I don't think anyone wants it removed, just the concept of it being "free" causes some trouble. Energy cost would be the best solution if something was going to be done I think.
It's an amazing ability and makes for amazing plays.

Also most people want to make it cost energy rather than cooldown, which is not the same as removing it. Note that it would also prevent the templar one-shot so that would be an interesting shift.

You're ignorance is quite astonishing, bio is much more exciting in SC2 then it was in BW. Its very fast with good damage output but its also very, very fragile, thus you can't brute force most well entrenched opponents, you need to run them apart. The best and most memorable TvT games we've ever seen where either marine-tank wars, like Flash vs Ryung, with beautiful positional play, surrounds and flanks, or it was pure bio vs pure mech, where the bio player does his best to keep the mech player off balance and contained, while the mech player does his best to position well enough to receive attacks and then go for a big death push. Not saying mech vs mech is boring or anything, but it will become stale quite quickly if it becomes the only standard, it doesn't often as much overall excitement as bio centric styles.
I've just honestly never seen why marine/tank is more popular than mech itself. To me it doesn't really make much sense as marine tank is destroyed by tank/hellion (with blueflame) even with micro from the marine tank player. To me, all the exciting marine tank games would have been just as mobile/exciting with hellions in the game instead of marines and if there's no marines in the game it makes air switches so much more powerful.

Not the same thing because marines are much more micro-able, their efficiency rises the better you split them and stutter step them while helions don't, at least not to the same degree. Helions are also not as fragile, so the emphasis on controling them better, to make them more damaging but to also raise their survivability, is much less then that of a marine.
Marines are also better as an all around raider unit, they can destroy infrastructure not just sack workers, that makes positional play more important against them because allowing even 1 medivac worth into your base can be catastrophic.
I'm sincerely sorry you feel helions are more exciting.

I think the best way to nerf it is to just increase the cooldown. That way it becomes much more of a decision instead of being something you just use every time you can. Maybe 1,5 minute? Giving it an energycost would actually buff it vs protoss because it could save medivacs vs ht's.

That's plausible as well as long as Terran has to think twice before using it instead of just using it constantly no matter what.

That depends on the cost. Terran bio rely on medivacs to heal all that splash damage or it melts.

Yeah that was the nerf i thought of as well, so you could maybe get in, but couldn't just insta pack up and zoom off as well.
