Go Illusion! You can do it!
|
Illusion is trying to throw this as badly as possible. Moving out with a few marines against roaches, doing it against with marines and hellions and then placing a tank in literally the only location where it can be sniped.

the ice in hots sure is slippery

Holy shit what a game. Great drop play by Illusion
|
Sick game 1... lots of back and forth cant wait to see the rest of the series play out
|
I declare that game one to be the best game of HotS thus far.
|
Nice game, If Vibe just split his units to defend drops, he probably would of won. Don't know why Zergs always bring the whole army to defend one drop
|

I did some other stuff, thinking that the game is over and Vibe won. I come back and see Illusion not mining and Vibe on 1 mining base. And then an awesome engagement.
Not bad ... Not seeing the mistakes that led to that situation probably made that situation infinitely more enjoyable to spectate ^^
|
Interesting but also weird game. I'm not yet used to HotS I guess.
|
Rooting for mah man Illusion :D Good luck bro.

Great reaper play by illusion

Now that was just trying way too hard to be cute by vibe.
|
It pisses me off. Build a fucking raven instead of wasting scans.
|
Haha I'm genuinely surprised by how good hydras are.
|
There's not really a point in using blinding cloud in this situation imo. Illusion is not relying on tanks so the bio only looses 1 or 2 seconds of dps.
Also having the bio hugging the roach/hydra ball doesn't change much, if it was against banelings yes it would be usefull, but here the bio just runs up and melts Vibe's army.
Edit: Broodlords is a weird choice in this situation as well, Illusion is very mobile, ultras would be more usefull.

The lack of banelings vs these heavy bio compositions is not helping, yeah. Also infestors always seem to come a bit late. I feel like vs upgraded, medivac'ed bio balls you always need some decent AoE (i.e. banelings, fungal).
|
This is pretty much the first HOTS I've watched. I didn't feel like tracking all of the changes. Just figured I'd see it when it was "done". This is really neat. Excellent game.

These steroid abusing hyper hydras are pretty funny to see.

People not too interested in illusion vs. vibe apparently...too bad for them because 2 great games to start off the series.

What a cool, close game.
5-10 banelings in Vibe's composition when he saw Illusion was so bio heavy would have made a huge difference. Bio would have to retreat, rather than attack, allowing Vibe to take the better position.
I also had no idea blinding could was so powerful.

I'm so, so, so, so glad Binding Cloud is in the game and I'm a mech player.
Roach/Hydra is probably the coolest possible combination for zerg, especially if it's mostly hydras. Anything that makes that composition work is beautiful for the game IMO.
Ling/Bling/Muta is far too coinflippy and dependant on if the banelings land, where as roach/hydra viper is all about the clouds, the stutter step from both sides (if bio) and the pure control, not just baneling splitting from a (basically a-moving zerg).
My god I love HoTS.

wow this series is very good.

He's at least making widow mines last two games, but hasnt done much with them.

Late infestors...
But a blob of marines under fungal + blinding cloud looks pretty fucked. Holy cow that combo of spells look strong against bio.

reapers into widowmine is where it's at Perhaps he was just planning to open the series this way in the first game, but after seeing Vibe's problems with it, did it again in the second game. Vibe kinda figured out how to deal with it this time, so maybe a more HotS strat is coming next.

so we can definitively confirm hydra rape bio even with a very hight medivac count :D ( there were also one Stephano vs MKP some time ago where stephano wins with roach hydra vs mass rines-medivacs )
Btw casters doesn't seems aware of it. "no way Vibe can win vs this terrifying terran army" into 1a into Vibe rape Illu.... :D
And viper just seems OP vs T :D

I wasn't planning on staying up late to watch MLG as I watched IEM the whole day... but boy am I glad I did. Great games, highly entertaining!

I'd rather have something that takes skill to use be overpowered (see widowmines (although not OP), Vipers and Carriers) rather than infestors which in WoL were just click here to kill everything. <333

Yeah infestors was too easy to use, boring to watch (anti-micro) and, even worse, super good vs everything, literally everything, every fucking unit, from marines to BC, etc. But eh the second problematic point of infestors was killing units for free... and then they make viper and swarm host witch, whereas more complicated to use and more specific, kills units for free :/ Btw infestors stays a very good unit in HoTs
So, we will see with time, but for now i'am not really enthusiast about theses news units....
|
Illusion and Vibe have played the most entertaining TvZ between foreign players in a long time. Bravo gentlemen

Looks like Illusion is still good as ever.

Infestors got a damage reduction and a casting nerf. They're not that great really. You're not going to see infestor ling builds because infestors don't do any damage.
Swarm hosts only work when you have a momentum advantage because they suck in small numbers, Illusion gifted his army and the worst possible time so Vibe was able to build up swarm hosts and pressure him with a supply lead. It has nothing to do with free units.

Yeah reminded me of my swarmhost games. So glad other zergs are using that composition now and not going roach/hydra. Swarmhosts so so so good in zvp if the zerg player knows how to use them :D

I'd say Demuslim is an EU terran, since he played in WCS UK. Hard to say who is better, since both have beaten pretty solid opponents, but neither has won a major tournament. For me at least, I think they are roughly equal.

Tanks are pretty good against swarmhosts, but (atleast as mech) it's oftentimes hard to know you have enough tanks to hold them off, but also push back. With Bio I would assume it would be to abuse the mobility of them, hold your bases with some bunkers and go drop.

I think the key point is "you can use [this thing] if you have enough of it". If you have enough (tanks for example), locusts just die and do nothing, if you don't, you start losing an ungodly amount of stuff and position, and you have to move around the SH.

It was close, I would have like to see what would have happened had illusion ignored the 3rd and went straight into the natural. That plus chasing the roaches so far north (excellent job on vibe's part buying time) just gave vibe too much time.
