This is exactly my memory of growing up watching the Leafs. Haven't watched many games since the lockout 2004-2005 lockout that cancelled the entire season.

That poll was awkward as hell lol. Even more surprised Nazgul was he one who struck the hammer.

That's nonsense. He's obligated by contract to stream for EG, and while I cannot read his mind, I imagine the fact that he only streams when he has to means he cares more about winning than entertaining random people on the internet. This is not a situation unique to Jaedong, and most other teams do not have these types of restrictions. But hey...$$$

Sponsors have never pressured EG for underperforming players, said so by Alex Garfield himself in an interview recently. It's about marketing, not in-game performance. Exactly. EG isnt buying wins when it signs up new players or sets up things like a pro-league team. They are buying eyeballs and they do a hell of a job, even if most of their fans end up caught in a battered-wife syndrome with the team, "but they just need stephano and then they will definitely finally win something" They also try to buy players right as they've peaked. Sort of. They buy guys who are famous because they did something big. I think JYP is actually their only investment who had a more TL-esque approach, where they bought a guy in whom they saw a lot of potential.
But ya, at the end of the day: Alex Garfield has his dirty money, EG is the richest team by far in the West and you know they will never fold. They've certainly created an incredibly viable model, even if that model primarily involves crushing their fans hopes before restoring them again not via performance but purchase of another highly regarded player.

Relax, guys, EG-TL did pretty well in recent games, coin toss right there again. They will get their turn soon.
They are at least solid mid tier team, if they commit fully with their rosters, and practice hard, championship is possible. Ofc assuming they won't send out 2 foreigners in one series again for the whole year.

My boy Leenock could teach those two a lesson on how to pull your own weight.

JYP in the ace match? What???
|
I think the major downside to not playing Hero or Taeja in this situation is the opportunity cost. Let's say Hero went out and lost to Soulkey. It would likely be a hard-fought game, and it would give Hero some time to get comfortable in the ace chair, which might help out a lot next round. Ok, if JYP wins then it might look like a good play, but no way does it have the right percentage... it's way to early to be trying to play mindgames with the ace pick.

Honestly, I think Thorzain has a better shot at good results than Puma. Stephano will definitely be put out when he comes Korea.

puma just switched to LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL (the new lol dota clone powerd by sc2/blizzard now aviable in bronzeleague)
and jyp in ace ?
well this kinda reminds me why i dont like EG but love TL
User was warned for this post

I think people are overlooking that Stars was also being crafty with the shy pick.
Both teams were expecting a different player than they ended up getting, JYP got the short end of that stick.
This stuff happens, Proleague is a long haul.

TLO improved a lot recently, so he's a much better choice than the current players. Sheth is going through some stuff, so he's out though. you keep saying foreigners like TLO keep improving but tbh it's all about the result. Yeah may be he did well in R8 in HSC. But I'm sure he'll choke or lose in high level matches...
There is nothing in the blood of koreans that makes them better at starcraft. Seriously, pretty sure that it's all about practice. It's way more efficient to practice in a team house with a good coach and good team mates... what most foreigners can't do. But HuK/Thorzain... they can actually do that now, in Korea. If they put the effort that it's needed and they practice a lot with Hero/Teaja/JD i'm sure they will show great results. They already proved in the past that they can beat pretty much anyone when they are at their peak practice wise, when they are confident and when they are not jet lagged and shit.
Now WILL they put the effort? that's another story.

JYP in the Ace over Taeja/Hero/Jaedong?

Yeah, Thorzain is genuinely excited to be there and hasn't shown bad games so far. Feel like he has a good chance to improve with some more booth experience.

He has a perfectly good contract with T8, and he chose to go on loan. He wants to connect more with fans. With foreign fans. He has wanted that since his time on Hwaseung.
Now, suppose it's in the contract, so what? As I said, he streams a little bit sometimes. That's not the end of the world. It wouldn't be fruitful if he streamed all the time, either. It'd like a kid eating a poisonous amount of chocolate on Halloween or Valentine's Day. It's not useful marketing if you have an endless supply of Jaedong streaming to the point where it becomes common. I mean, fuck, I bet it was in Casy's contract that he had to practice a lot of Starcraft. Does that mean the contract is somehow holding him back when he wants to meet girls instead of practicing and then loses 0-3 to Iris in the 3/4th place match of the OSL? You're harping on this idea of "contract" without really saying anything. Yes, professionals have contracts. That's a good thing for all parties involved.

My point was more about EG's signing practices and how they are more concerned with brand marketing, while other teams are more concerned with making their players better.

If there was a twilight council cancel, I'd think players would be more aware of building cancel tactics and that he could adjust a little better. Puma and JYP seem to be lacking patience and trying stuff that is theoretically good but not right for the situation. High ground zealots were a nice idea, but those could have done more beating down immortal shields.
On a side note, it's getting really hard not to use adblock when I hear that same boppy Mini commercial every minute. The TC was cancelled at about 75% (or greater) completion.
But did JYP see the TC, or just a bunch of stalkers and/or 3 gates or something?
I'm trying to figure out if JYP should have felt really lucky to scout the TC, or if he should have been suspicious that he was allowed to see it or something. I'm just curious how much of it was planned or a snap call (it's smart either way), and in glorious hindsight, it seems like a pretty logical play to make: fake 3 gate blink/robo on Antiga, expand with later robo, defend any 1 base push relatively easily or be ahead economically. I'm wondering if the logic simply breaks down if JYP is able to execute a 3 gate blink himself, or if Shy in fact does something entirely different if he sniffs it out of JYP.
It's not so much clinging to could have beens for EG-TL, since JYP and Puma were playing quite impatiently anyway. I am rather dubious of strategies that rely on tech cancels when the lost resources could make the difference. This is especially possible in PvP, where defender's advantage isn't very much.
