"Sick" forcefields ARE exciting, because very few Code S level Protosses, even, can put them down as efficiently, as effectively, and as accurately as Parting just did in Game 2. Blame my untrained Protoss eye, but landed fungals look almost identical to me, regardless of player skill. The skill in fungaling seems more to do with managing your Infestor energy, deciding when to use fungals instead of IT's, and having the vision/awareness and positioning to "decide" to ensnare a certain clump of units. That last point is similar to forcefields, except that with fungals it's a simple "one-click" process. If the units are in range, I click on them and they are fungaled. For forcefields, if a group of units is in range, you have to land more than one forcefield (unless it's a small ramp, of course), decide on the shape of the arc you want (taking into account the map topology), and get them down quickly enough so that the units can't escape. For both fungals and ff's, you have to space them out perfectly or else you're wasting energy due to overlap or you're missing units due to a gap. But even then, leaving a gap in your fungals is no big deal because the vast majority of the units you intended to fungal will be rooted, whereas with forcefields, depending on how many gaps you leave and the size of those gaps, your 4-8 forcefields could end up virtually useless because all the remaining units will be able to funnel through the gaps. And I forgot perhaps the biggest difference: with forcefields, they almost always restrict movement of an army in one direction (either preventing their advance, or preventing their retreat), but the army is free to run in the other direction. With fungals, they're rooted in place. In short, please don't equate forcefields with fungals.

Forcefields are much more difficult to use properly than fungals, there is no comparison. If you're incapable of appreciating this, you're probably not going to enjoy PartinG's games, go do something else instead of bringing down the vibe for the rest of us who are. I completely agree. Perfect forcefields aren't that easy as some people think. Even pros are fucking them up so often, it's just PartinG who does them really good almost always. And after his games all the zergs come to whine "omg its so easy to just f click everywhere blablabla". I wanna see them do perfect forcefields.

It's only amusing the first few times.
