I think the problem its that the players that got top 4 in this tournament have little to no personality, if someone like MC or MVP had made it that far, there woulda been 3x the viewership.

You are treating this like an invitational. Hint: It wasn't. All players that were here were here because they qualified. That means that the best zerg/terran players weren't here BECAUSE the best protoss players defeated about all of them in the qualifiers. Why do you think only 2 korean zergs were able to qualify, 0 korean terrans, yet 5 protosses?

Because few months ago when Korean qualifier took place Protoss had advantage over Z and T in Korea. Currently its not true anymore.

Stephano, Curious, Roro are top 10 zergs. Sen definitely played like he belonged there as well(although it could mean he ran out of steam eventually).
All that means is that Browder is right and the game is evolving. People who think protoss and terran now have it bad need to actually look back to the days of terran dominance to realize what real imbalance is like.
Since zerg went "op" 10/24 in top 8 gsl were zerg(8/24 were P).
How many zergs were there before? Last 3 seasons? 2/24. Last 10 seasons? 14/80.

TBH, as the supposedly the biggest tournament of the year, this is a huge letdown production and viewer count wise. I don't think we ever hit 100k concurrent during the whole event, although that can be attributed to the bad time zone when the game was played. Still, in comparison, to TI2 and Riot's S2 Finals...... we're far far behind in terms of these 2 aspects even considering the live audience (the whole arena was definitely not filled) and the tv viewing count.

there was also a chinese and korean stream was there not?

well.... parting is awesome, known for being cocky and is also doing ceremonies usually. he might not know much english (if at all) but he certainly isn't boring.

Didn't manage to stay up for this. I've never missed a GSL finals where I had to stay up late, but I really wasn't feeling this. Certainly didn't feel like a "global champion" was being crowned.
i was driving down the road this november eve and spotted a hitchhiker walking down the street. i pulled over and saw that it was only a tree. i uprooted it and put it in my trunk. do trees like marshmallow peeps? cause that's all i have and will have.

So with this one check, Parting has won the equivalent of about 2.5 gsl's worth of prize money.

Why it's so hard for people to accept the fact that right now there is NONE who is distinguished enough to deserve to be called the best player in the world? Why there is such need to find someone? It's weird... I guess people want a king afterall...

A lot of bitching over minor/trivial things for an otherwise good tournament.

because they were representing themselves, not their country
even at the ceremony parting was like "flag? what's this about? oh yeah, I represent korea". Blizz did well, but they didn't do it right.

what about having a world championship with national teams for sc2?

ive heard they had some national teams in broodwar, the beta and the beginning of sc2.... why not bring national team competition back?
in the end korea wins but people would enjoy it a lot just to cheer for their own countries. Doesnt feel so random anymore. even a europe championship would be pretty awesome with sweden vs france and other good countries like russia, ukraine, spain, england, germany.

i think you could have at least 8 good teams for a tournament..

I dont get why they to do regional qualifiers when the best players from certain countries arent even good enough to get past roud 1 of the korean qualifiers. To the people saying thos was the hardest tournament all year. Any tournament with tons of foreigners wont be close to being as hard as gsl

You need different tournament for that. WCS could have been all for national competition but the continental qualifiers destroyed that option. WCG could introduce national team competition - that would be cool. Of course the cost of flying all these people would be quite high

It depends on how you see it. A majority of the toss win are due to some sort of all-in. The majority of the win that doesnt involve all-in are the wins that the zerg were too afraid of the all-in and didnt drone so toss make big ball and run him over. It kind of coin flip. It also been said that immortal allin was really powerful but the fact that toss HAS to do the immorta allin every game to ensure a win is kind of disheartening. It also hard to scout it out

Well i think that's what people should be focusing on. The asymmetrical balance drawbacks.

I hate it when people say things like "terran was OP at the start" While that may be somewhat true you have to agree that not many people actually knew how to play the game then. If you were able to go back in time with the experience players have now it would look a whole lot different IMO.
