Well, OGN moved The Champions, their LoL tournament, up two days so that they could show the WCS all this weekend.

Does the Korean lineup really feel like they're the Korean world champions? MC and MVP opting out was horrendous. Scarlett and Stephano feels like perfectly appropriate to master over their domains. But Creator, Parting and Rain? I like them all and they're great, particularly Rain, but so many people's absence feels like it makes this less of the world championship that it is supposed to be.
If this was truly the tournament to find the best in the world, it would be 27 or 28 Korean players and 4-5 foreigners.
Just have fun with it and don't try to use it as the ultimate test, because It's not.

In terms of current skill level and recent win/loss records, I think Creator, Parting, and Rain are all quite comparable to MC and MVP. While it would certainly be nice to have more GSL champions involved, I don't think we are going to be lacking Korean skill this tournament.

It was a lot more Koreans and a lot more foreigners in the beggining.

We aren't lacking Korean skill. We are lacking Korean Terrans though.

Stephano going to take down tourny after tourny!

I'm not sure how to respond to this, because I don't understand the point you're trying to make.
Yes the regionals had lots of Korean players, because it was the KR regional. What should have been done is give more seeds to WCS KR and WCS asia if they wanted to make it the hardest tournament to win. As it stands now this is no more difficult than an MLG, perhaps even easier.
You don't even need to decrease the number of players from other regions, just make the tournament bracket suitable for a larger number of players.

. Besides rage Good job implying someone else to be biased, and then following it up with a statement that blatantly exposes your own. I was actually a big fan of SeleCT before he quit SC2. I like IdrA but he is far from my favorite player. It's just sickening to see the amount of hate he gets, 99% of which has no logical foundation whatsoever. I like Stephano, I think he's an innovator. But there are 2 things IdrA has over him. 1) Mechanics (Stephano himself has said that he doesn't believe his mechanics are that good) 2) ZvZ. Stephano's ZvZ is ok, but IdrA's is good. Good beats ok. That's not to say Stephano couldn't easily win, ZvZ can be pretty coinflippy at times.
Do you honestly believe that Idra's zvz is better than Stephano's? I guess fanboyism really is a thing

pretty excited to see the results.. just looked at the liquipedia article.. can't believe how little terrans there are.. and there seems to be a lack of korean terran talent.
still a great line up though.

This. The reaction that a ton of koreans withdrew from the tournament just proves that this is by far NOT the most important/prestigious tournament in the world.

still a great line up though. WCS Korea was at the start of the "We have no clue what to do please show us the way lord MVP" phase of TvZ and polt took out MVP first round forcing MVP to abandon the tournament for IEM, prime and hoseo terrans got confused, went on full tilt vs zerg and all got knocked out during the preliminaries, hack + happy got ran down by rampaging elephants, polt went full retard and kept failing doom drops vs toss and got taken out by miya in for the final spot at Asia.
Oh and there was dreamertt, hands up if you give a fuck.

The tournament-format is really quite bad for finding the best player. Instead, we'll find one from a list of really-good-and-quite-close-in-level players and crown him/her emperor. It's a real pity that more thought wasn't put into the design of the competition, but the ways of Blizzard are inscrutable.
Edit for plight of womanhood

The sad thing is it should be, considering the prize pool is huge.
Blizzard should have announced the prize pool for the world finals before any of the qualifiers even began earlier this year so the KR players could understand that this tournament is worth their time. It was only announced on September 15th when all the regionals were over and almost all the continentals too.

Did it prove that GSL code S doesn't mean much, when Rain forfeited his spot?

I think it's either going to be Stephano or one of the Koreans. I guess Rain is a favourite.

That's different because Rain is a kespa player who has never before seen the light of a foreign day. Also not sure how voluntarily he gave up that spot. However, tons of people dropping out of a tournament like this or not even participating is different.
