NASL is a great tournament, but I think the constant rescheduling needs some punishment sometimes unless it really is a HUGE issue (e.g. NightEnD's current problem). Walkovers are needed to balance the scheduling, and it just piles up on top of each other until it becomes a huge clusterfuck. Sometimes players need to learn that simply skipping due to holidays (or in Stephano's case, simply not appearing) is a major issue and needs to be stopped. It is a difficult situation, there are rare cases where players are to blame, however there is a complete over-saturation of Starcraft out there now. With a decent number of premier tournaments, loads of intermediate tournaments and countless weekly cups and show-matches players (and viewers a-like) want a piece of everything. It just all seems like a logistical nightmare. The way I see it there's three options to solve this (and none of them are good). 1) Set dates where you play several games and essentially stockpile replays. - This was basically the method they used in season 1 (and 2?) and I think everyone (along with the NASL team themselves) agrees that it won't be done again. The current system has its problems no doubt, but it's still a huge improvement and I hope the old system of playing games up to 4 weeks in advance doesn't make a return. 2) Lock players into contracts, not allowing them to participate in certain tournaments - This just won't happen, end off. Even if NASL wanted to do this I'm certain there would be next to no player/team who would agree to it since there's just so many options out there. Aside from the potential loss of prize money from other tournaments there's the loss of exposure which teams would deem unacceptable. And that's not even mentioning the red-tape/legal crap that comes with that 3) Tough love: Set strict walk-over policies and tougher deadlines for informing admins of participation in other tournaments - Kind of what was mentioned in the above quote. Possibly the most feasible of the three ideas but still probably won't be done. Even if NASL did set stricter deadlines and were less flexible I still don't think it would solve the problem. Instead we'd be left with up to a third of matches been walk-overs and loss of viewership. Ultimately I think the current system is good. Yes today (or yesterday for American viewers) did highlight how the system can fail, but we're almost half way through the season and this is the first time it's happened. There's usually at least 2 matches shown every broadcast (and when there isn't the filler is entertaining enough). All I will say (for my 2 cents) is it really could do with a little tweeking and some fine-tuning. Also I really wouldn't want the job of the NASL person behind all the logistics.

Quite a lot of the matches were live and those that weren't had relatively fresh replays, in total 21 walkovers were issued. This season so far 6 walkovers have been issued (with current trend leads to 13,5 walkovers over entire season) but there have been reschedules all over the place. In all honesty I can't remember the last day there have been no changes to the lineup and this makes the league very hard to follow. In addition to the problems listed earlier with the new approach you also have that a part of your viewerbase mainly turns in to see <player x> play and as a result get pissed off when they see that his match won't be aired today but god knows when.
