It is not that for OSL/MSL, qualifiers count as royal roader path in OSL/MSL. The only requirement is first time participation, no matter which stage of the tournament.
Offline qualifiers certainly don't count for Royal Road purposes...
but also, if someone's coming in through Code A prelims, doesn't it take 2 seasons to win Code S?? :S

Thanks for that! There's so many great magic articles out there, it's hard to keep track. Can't believe I hadn't read this one yet though!

So has anyone attempted to qualify-for-the-first-time-ever, succeeded and then won the OSL/MSL in one go? How many games is that btw?
According to ElephantBaby, JD is not a royal roader. He won EVER 2007 but he was actually in Daum 2007 Ro48 and lost to much (didn't check the OSLs before that).
OSL Royal Roader only counted players who qualified for OSL Group Stage (Ro 16) which is the OSL proper. Everything before that are qualifying tournaments (ODT, etc).

Both are fine to crown a royal roader . Yup basically this. Life is still a royal roader along with Sun.
Potential* yeah?

Being a Code A regular precludes Royal Roading unless you want to devalue the term entirely. The first time you're above Code B is your Royal Road run (even if it takes two seasons due to the format).

So how is JD a royal roader?
Code S is actually stricter than OSL since Code S is Top 32 and OSL proper is Top 16.

code S = OSL ro16, code A = something like OSL ro24........... royal roader only counts if the player is first time participating in the ro16 of OSL, regardless of the past. same should be for GSL

People are probably salty about Life rolling over MKP(fan favorite).
Life and Sun are considered royal roaders by definition. The TL staffs who wrote the recaps has classified Life and Sun as royal roaders from the beginning of Code S Season.
Same with Yoda and Symbol. But they are not royal roaders anymore.

Source: http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=365589 Yoda, Life, Heart, Rain, Jaedong, Mana should be all the potential RRoaders for this season. 2/6 pretty freaking good for Ro4.

Since GSL's format is different, the definition of Royal Roader should be adjusted for the format.
Whatever that definition is, no one will ever agree, ever. Standard internet.
But to me getting knocked out of Code A means you are already royal roadblocked, but staying in Code A and winning in your first Code S still counts.

Only Life and Sun are the remaining royal roaders.

Yesss! Couldn't be more happy with who made it through! At this point I could say I'd be content with any of the remaining players winning it all. Even though I do have a little bias towards Life(Because of Startale ^^)

Guess we will have a pvz final most likely. And I don't think rain can beat life who destroyed last gsl champion seed effortlessly. It could also be st's first time to break the curse.

Man anyone can win this year Ok... everyone except Taeja :p
