If you try to play a tech switchy, heavy aggression style like your suggesting, then what you have is a small (medium if forgoing upgrades) sampling of both roaches and mutas, neither of which are particuarly deadly until hitting critical mass. What's "truly" powerful in tech switches is large, sudden tech switches like when suddenly you make 20 mutas. But to be able to so easily tech switch like that you need to have 5 bases to easily change your army composiion. By going a huge tech switch it gives you alot of map control and suprise factor, and you can definitely do some damage, but its at the cost of forgoing a faster hive which leads the "ticking time bomb" of a 200-200 mech push to be oh so stronger. I think what your suggesting is that they quickly switch as SOON as they push with either roaches/mutas. So that Terran is never at ease. But this is so misleading in that you think that good mech players solely counter roaches with tanks and solely counter mutas with thors. Mech players positionally place Turrets vs muta switches, and top level mech players add in a few thors as well as they're dealing with roaches. They naturally deal with the "small" tech switches of 8-10 mutas or 20 sudden roaches, because honestly two thors aren't too bad vs roaches when supported by tanks(they act as "tanks" to the tanks, teheheehe). Also, to be able to constantly tech switch like you suggest means that the zerg has suffered little to no drone losses, because if they lose even 10-15 drones to some hellions, then thats a full wave of units spent replenishing drones. Then you lose the "timing" that tech switches offer, the heavy aggression style. And that's why your statement is a misnomer. | ||
