Due to conflicting schedule, HerO withdraws from the tournament after qualifying for a WCS Asia seed. This was determined to be acceptable by HerO, TLAF and Mr. Chae before the tournament began. It sucks we don't get to see another excellent Protoss in the running for the WCS KR final but we'll get to see plenty of HerO at MLG and even more of By.Rain too!
I wanna see the Squirtle/PartinG finals we were robbed from in GSL S2, and it doesn't look too unlikely. I'd probably give Seed the slight edge in the first series though, Squirtle should be a pretty heavy favourite for the second one given his PvP history, but Creator's been on fire lately so you never know.
Hope herO can pull through in the elephant wrestling
Man I can't predict tonight's games. Feel like it's going to be three 2-1s...
Seed 2-1 Parting. Hard to bet against Seed with his GSL title and IPLTAC win. Also, with his good wins against Coca and Gumiho earlier in the tournament. I feel he's more 'clutch' than Parting too, and Parting is more susceptible to small game-costing stalker mismicros.
Squirtle 2-1 Creator. I think they're equally skilled but at this point nerves will play a big role. Creator's still inexperienced and he seems emotional. If he drops one game I think he'll lose it and it's PvP so he'll probably drop a game...
Hero 2-1 Roro. Hero's beaten 2/2 zergs this tournament and Roro's lost to 1/1 protoss. And with Kespa ZvP, you don't bet against the protoss...
squirtle vs creator too 1sided for squirtle i feel in the polls, both are equally good but squirtle has the slight edge becuz he is supposedly more calm and collected but im surprised its at 65/35 rather than something like 55/45
I knew you had written it down in the resource thread but I was half asleep and just wanted to put something up when I did it ;p I'll adjust it to the unified font
Seed and Squirtle have superior PvP than their counterparts, however Seed should make it less close than Squirtle, because Creator is a beast who never should be underestimated.
I have to admit, while reading today's preview article at work I was imagining Fionn face-down on the desk, in the dark, clutching a bottle of whiskey while bathed in the cold white glow of the monitor upon which are written the words... PvP.
Can't wait for my new computer to arrive. I was floored when I discovered that Japanese Amazon accepts COD. :D
Seed and Creator to make it through, i believe. Also i hope RoRo makes it through as well. I mean i like HerO, but we need some non protoss in the upper brackets for diversity sake ;p
I just have completely not been enjoying any of the stuff they're doing before the games lately. Usually there's at least one or two songs that are catchy, but I haven't liked any of these. T_T
Hell, in general for the WCS I haven't been too keen on the music selection. I guess it happens.

I'd just like something new period. It seems like we've had the exact same songs all week and a little before that, too. <.<
It'd even be preferable if they just did 20 minutes of Gangnam Style like they did before the GSTL finals.
At least I can comfortably not understand the words to any of it.
A lot of popular K-pop is given Japanese lyrics that synch up to the exact same beat as the original, while preserving random Korean for no reason and any English is left unchanged, and it completely fries my brain when I hear them played in a konbini or karaoke bar. @.@

A good bunch of Korean words sound the same and have the same meaning as Japanese too.

Yes, a lot of popular K-pop songs are given Japanese translations for the Japanese version. Anything played in Japan is not going to have Korean lyrics in the song except for a few random bits here and there.
I have heard one or two songs played on the usual pre-game K-pop list that have Japanese lyrics. One of them was by 4minute, if I recall.

They are allowed, Kespa doesn't want them to participate. Difference.
yeah partly makes me wonder if they want the their players to catch up more before showing them in full force
Well if WCS is any evidence i'd say some of them already have caught up. Not allowing them to participate in Code A prelims is just making it harder for them to catch up even more.

I don't know what 'family' is in Korean, but here:
They make Japanese versions of Kpop songs with Japanese lyrics. That's what I've been talking about. I'm sure if you listened to the original version enough, you can hear how the words aren't the same. That's Japanese.

oh lol silly me lol i misunderstood than i thought u were saying kpop songs(that arent the jap ver.) have korean lyrics but random jap words in it that make no sense but just fill in so the song "rhymes essentially". =P my mistake

I think he's saying that some jap versions leave some korean words in it. So there's actually 3 languages in some songs.

Fair enough. I was just trying to point out that when I don't understand the words, I just sort of get a feel for the rhythm of the words, but when I'm actually out and about and hear these songs where I live, I DO understand the words but the rhythm is all mucked up and it hurts my head.
For the record, the words that I know of the same are 'shin' 新 meaning new, and 'san' 山 meaning mountain. I realize that knowing Korean is the cool thing here but that's unfortunately not where I live. XD

This too. Because I hear the Korean versions first most of the time, the version I hear while shopping next week just scrambles my language circuits.

Sure it can, it just doesn't happen all that often. Alicia vs HerO at MLG arena was the most recent example of a lategame PVP. Carriers, motherships, storm harass, it's pretty cool.

Yes. And then if you have more collosus you win. Unless your collosus are shooting a pylon for the entire fight. Then you lose. Other units don't matter really.

The characters I wrote are actually Chinese characters, so the fact that they're said the same isn't surprising to me. ^^
For extra bonus confusion, the same characters can be pronounced two different ways in Japanese: 'atarashii' and 'yama'. 新しい at least looks a little different, but 'yama' 山 and 'san' 山 look the exact same! Have fun guessing which reading to use :D

Well, the winner gets a direct seed into Globals, it is still very important(also the cash prize). WCS Asia only has 6 spots and even if you discount the non koreans, that is still 9 players fighting 6 spots (The winner of this also gets to play but won't take a spot even if he finishes Top 6).

With only four terrans in the Asian championship, potentially five and only one Korean terran if Polt wins, I vote that we hire Taeja to run a terran boot camp. Weeks of intense, painful study of how to turn toss into goo. Turn these other Asian terrans into bloodthirsty killers, Taeja!

With warp-ins and about equal production, even a 1 stalker advantage can quickly turn into 2 since you have higher DPS and it just snowballs from there.

Terran by design is just a much more exciting race to watch. Hopefully HOTS changes that.
Hopefully?
he hopes that all races become interesting and exciting

I should add in that "by changes that" i don't mean make terran boring to watch ><

If by recently, you mean 6-7 months ago, then yeah. Terrans DID dominate in the 2nd half of 2011. But it hasn't been the case for a while now.

And an Oracle I guess.
And mothership core enables new macro abilities that add flexibility. There is no telling what strategies will become possible with early recall and purify.

So by not at all you mean we get a proper tier 3 air unit, a defenders advantage and proper harassment capability :p
I mean the army compositions of Protoss are not going to change much, so you're still going to be watching colossus and shit. there will be some fancy abilities like recall and energize and the oracle can harass but army engagements are going to look the same as wol unless the tempest ends up being really good against all 3 races

I can't see the mirror matches changing much at all, TvT will potentially become much more exciting because it always gets to factory tech, the other two will be probably be the same, struggling to get into the late game, a lot of micro aggression in the early game, but if the mothership core gets in, I have no idea how PvP will be.

If mech becomes usable in TvP protoss composition will need to adapt to it. Admittedly that's a big if.

Lol, if only that was true. Sadly it is not. Far from it. :p
1st time I laugh today - gg Hero and Roro it was a fun game. Forcefield won't guarantee a win cuz they woul run out of energy eventually and coming all way back is hard also.

Hahahaah never seen anything like this game!!! pylon surrounded by force field lolllll
EDIT: Wait, just to confirm, in multyiplayer game if u lose all buildings, you lose right? Which is why hero tried to protect that lone pylon?
Yeah. If you have no buildings, you lose, even if you have an army, even if you have the resources to make buildings and the workers to make them. No buildings = loss.
haha what a terrible basetrade by both players, this was awful... these guys obviously haven't played these scenario's often because they did so bad, if hero just went for assimilators instead of pylons he had won easily...

Yes. But the real reason everyone is facepalming is because Hero had a much bigger army in a base trade scenario. Carelessly lost all but that one lone probe, built two pylons at exactly the same place, built 1 pylon rather than 2 assimilators and didn't bother to protect his buildings when he could have done so with effectively 1 or 2 sentries.
Haha Hero smiling as he walked past the stream cam. On the day that Violet passes away, that is just .... beautiful. Losing like a bronzie, but enjoying it.
Edit: Somebody please make a fanclub, as I'm not willing to due to not being good enough to consistently update and maintain it. Please make me the first member as well!

parting won game 1 with a bo win, game 2 parting forced 2 cancels on seed's nat, and became far ahead, game dragged on until seed was trying to get mothership first, however parting controlled his 200/200 army better and won the game with LAZORS
I'm always surprised when progamers get into lategame andosero the one thing that can kill them. Have a bigger army in a base race? Protect your remaining buildings. Winning in a PvP? Get an obs for DTs, etc. it happens pretty often and it's kinda baffling that this isn't a fundamental that is universally known to think of the one way you could lose and prevent that from happening.
Base races still happened in BW right?
With that said, thuroughly entertaining games tonight.

No they were pretty bad.
A pity... I really enjoy early to midgame PvP.. I just dislike it when it goes into sitting in their base for 15 minutes and getting the perfect combo going...I love games with Phoenix openers..

In korean pro BW? Base races happened once a year maybe even less than that. It was really rare to see. In sc2 base races are usual and I don't get it why (it's so stupid gnah...).

I think it mainly comes down to map design and also in games vs protoss they can just warp in at your base so by the time you get back he'll have a bigger army than you.
My interest in watching SC2 was starting to peter out, but the KeSPA players have definitely breathed new life into SC2 for me. Especially KeSPA zergs.

Let me guess you dont play protoss.. the early to mid game is all about build order wins which take no skill.. 15 minutes at least theres a bit of skill involved although still not much from how big of an advantage people get from build order wins early on

there hardly are any build order wins in pvp anymore, there were neither today as well. All the builds that won/lost fast could have been stopped by proper positioning and micro.
