Maps are newer doesn't mean they are more balanced and it doesnt mean they produce better games. Eh pvz is imba on TDA, things change in a year.
I'm pretty sure I'd be more excited watching a game on xelnaga caverns then on atlantis spaceship Crevasse should be brought back! Maps these days have zero varience. They all look and feel out the sad. It's a sad departure from BW where there was some truly unique maps that allowed players to develop really unique and wacky styles that wouldn't work elsewhere.
I'm a bit afraid that SC2 doesn't have the mechanical depth needed to make this kind of thing possible. I mean, you can't even skip a main/natural ramp without making PvP and ZvZ retarded, and you can't put a weird third in without degenerating vZ matchups into endless all-ins.

Since Terrans are constantly moving vikings back and forth it's not that difficult for Zerg get them all fungaled just like that.

Well two base maps are equally bad. Race mechanics affect map "quality" so much.

Well, 2 bases map had a midgame. Actual maps don't even have one anymore. :/
