Considering the kind of wrench it would throw into established players, as well as the fact that the creator of the idea (Barrin) has withdrawn it and said it's worse than the current setup (he personally prefers 8m but 4 per trip), not sure how this would ever get implemented.

Were you not watching the game on Whirlwind? Metropolis is all about split map lategame, that's more map design than matchup dynamics imo.

That was also due to very different playstyles - Tails was doing a very momentum-based timing-attack game against mutaling; Lure was doing passive macro play against a turtling zerg.

The two opposite playstyles existing is what Blizzard wants; like it or not, deathball v deathball has a place in SC2 (at least according to the current design philosophy).

Personally I think it'd be nice if deathballs were more broodlord-ey (even moreso) - having durable, low dps units with spellcasters against other durable, low dps units & casters could lead to some really nice drawn-out engagements. Deathball v deathball would be fine if it was a longer tug of war, but right now the first 3 seconds is mostly decisive.

i think warpgate mechanic makes balance by maps incredibly hard
