Personally, I think Naniwa and Stephano are equal in skill.
I don't think we can judge this until we get them to play each other.
IMO not. That would only be one matchup. PvZ is probably Naniwas weakest and Stephanos strongest.
So you want them to play all the matchups? O.o
Actually, GSL season 3 requires you to play a different race each set in order to determine who the better player truly is, so I guess we don't have to worry about that. We actually could know who the best of the two is.
Congratulations to Stephano. Not to surprising to see him 4-0 Alicia after beating much stronger PvZ players in Hero and MC. Good luck when you go to Korea soon

Their 'skill' is referring to their overall ability as pro players in ALL matchups. A 1v1 would only test their ZvP.
It is the only match up you can make a direct comparison for. It's still important.
Ok, put it this way. If Stephano 3-1'd Naniwa in a Bo5, that in no way makes Stephano more 'skilled' than Naniwa.
A better way to judge it would be to put them in a 4 player group with MKP and DRG, have each player play each other in a Bo5 and see which of the two comes out ahead.
That would by no means be a true indication, there's tons of factors that make it impossible to determine if the results are a 100% reflection of skill (players not always playing to their true potential, slight map imbalances, luck, etc).

Not really. That would be assuming the other races they played were all of equal skill as each other as well. Not to mention not every group offered mirror matchups.

You all are fucking disrespectful assholes. Seriously, pathetic. Quit your fucking whining and arguing and post something relevant.
ON TOPIC:
I just got home from the venue and this by far was the best finals I have ever seen. Even if it is the only one I have ever seen live you have to admit that there has never been a better ceremony for the victor. Between the champagne, dancing, the crowd, and the fact I got to stand on stage beside inControl and Idra (^_^), it was truly amazing.
A close second would be the Dreamhack Open in Stockholm when Thorzain was totally overwhelmed by the emotion.
This was much of the same, but Stephano embraced that emotion and let it all out on stage. That open display of love and excitement from Stephano, NASL, the casters, crew, and the crowd is the type of thing that the rest of the world needs to see. That is eSports.
I also have huge respect for NASL to have the balls to put the Grand Finals of ALL the tournaments in the spotlight today. Tribes, WCS: Canada, and CSL deserved to be in that spotlight, and the crowd treated them as such. If only you would do the same, then you might be a fan of eSports as a whole and not just elitist Starcraft 2 fans.
This obviously does not apply to every single person who posted in this thread, but it applies to the overwhelming majority of you, which is disappointing.
You may disagree with my opinion and statements and I respect that. Or you may agree with them, and I respect that even more. Hopefully you can respect my opinion regardless and continue to contribute something meaningful to this thread.

A more simple argument is that a player's skill should be judged by the sum of his matchups. 1v1 only tests one matchup, and in this case, it happens to be Naniwa's worst and Stephano's best. If player X happened to be weak against player Y, player Y was weak against player Z, and player Z was weak against player X (due to varying skills in specific matchups or whatever), you'd be stuck in a triangle saying X > Y > Z > X and you'd get nowhere by comparing players in direct 1v1s.
Home from day 2 it was fucking awesome, dance party ftw. Mr bitter loved the cookies we made and zoe and frodan had some as well while the rest were taken backstage for them. I got a hug from rotterdam and got to shake clutch's hand ^-^ ! Kinda sad alicia didn't come out after he lost, I would have cheered for his valiant effort. I need to write blog on monday detailing the awesomeness of the event and some of the weird but cool things like the passive agressive tech guy.

I got a video on stage during the "dance party" of Stephano dancing away (and kicking the NASL hostess, Lauren, in the head after being flipped upside by someone)
