He used a few of his fungals on the voidray/observer, then on top of that he was probably trying to fungal a group of stalkers (because thats what he had to do to survive) instead of fungal the phoenix. Wasn't really a matter of making any micro mistakes (except maybe using the fungals on the voidray). Mc micro'd like a boss up to that point and also had a build that beat Stephanos (light on the roaches with more lings and infestors without enough energy to fungal).

Yes. I'm not commenting on the original point though. The guy never claimed that zerg design is linear, only that zerg macro mechanics isn't, which they are definitely not.

getting pheonix forces the 12 minute roach max to be slowed down because you NEED spores and extra queens (and getting spores slow down the 12max) or your queens get sniped
