Combined European National & Qualifiers
What can you do if you want to compete in Blizzard’s StarCraft II World Championship Series, but your nationality means you can’t enter one of the main National events? Don’t worry, because there’ll also be the Combined European National for players from other countries! On June 23 and 24 a total of 16 players will meet at the new ESL TV Studio in Cologne to determine two more participants for the World Championship Series Europe Finals
How to qualify for the Combined European National The Combined European National will gather 16 players who have qualified by finishing in the top four of four dedicated cups. We will hold these four cups, as well as a fifth to determine replacements, in May. The 16 qualifying players will have their trips and accommodation for the final event in Germany paid for.

really excited about WCS quick question though. why do stephano, socke, levin, fenix, killer and comm get direct seeds to the world finals after winning their nationals wheras players who won their nationals in other countries do not get a direct seed? i.e. UK, sweden and poland have arguably better sc2 players than france. yet the french national winner got a direct seed instead of having to participate in the continental finals
one other thing, if stephano has a direct seed after winning the french nationals, why does he even attend the european continental tournament?
thanks very much

> why do stephano, socke, and comm (and Vibe and a russian) get direct seeds to the world finals
Blizzard deems the countries as the biggest in the world in terms of Starcraft user numbers and sales (and ofcourse Blizzard will know from number of users if anyone).
> levin, fenix, killer They did win the South America Continental Final, so that is no direct seed - they are 3 of 32 participants on the World Finals in Shanghai.
> Y have arguably better sc2 players than Y As said, based on player numbers not "better player" which is hard to measure
> why does Stephano even attend the european continental tournament 60.000 extra dollars prizemoney and Europe's Best to play against.
