I don't know why you're posting this here, it's just going to spark another flame war.

Wow how can people watch LoL? I don´t care about if it´s easy or whatever, I enjoy playing it, but watching it is just boring.
Every game I´ve watched these past days have been decided pre 10 minutes, then it takes the team 30 minutes more to win, while you are 90% sure off who will win.

That's like saying, why not decide SC2 games as soon as one player is 50 supply ahead

Makes no sense for Europeans, makes very little sense in a global perspective. Look at the number of stream viewers watching this LoL final and compare it to the number watching SC2. Also consider the fact Riot chucked some money their way for the finals stage. It's not a hard question to answer. If you read my post it was not "let's switch timeslots between LoL and SC2". I was seeking to discuss other permutations and possibilities, such as having the SC2-final after, having LoL on a Sunday and SC2 on Saturday or vice versa. Maybe ESL should consider not having SC2 at all if it can't be fitted into their schedule in a good way. It is maybe not a hard question to answer but I felt you still didn't. 1) ceBIT's final day is today 2) ceBIT closes at 6PM CET / 5PM GMT http://www.cebit.de/en/information-for/visitors/at-a-glance/opening-hoursMaybe now it's obvious (I edited my post while you were quoting it) No, it is still not obvious, very few things are. Some possibilites: 1. Have the SC2-final on a GOOD timeslot on Friday (as an European have only been watching restreams for this IEM) and let LoL have Saturday for itself. 2. There are 6½ hours between the starting times for the SC2-final and the LoL-final. There are conceivable (not necessary practical) ways to make the SC2-final to be played later, like re-scheduling of the 3/4-place match to another day. What is the typical length of a LoL-match? 3. Format of the SC2-finals (BO5) which influences scheduling. Do you honestly feel that there are no scheduling issues to be discussed at all? No improvements or changes which can be done to better the viewing experience and numbers? Everything is for the best in this best of worlds? 1. How is midday on a Saturday a bad time? You have football matches and other sporting events played then, you do not have them played late afternoon on Fridays. If they were to have the finals on Friday then given how long a bo5 takes they'd have to start it at 3PM GMT / 4PM CET at. least. while most people are still at work. Early on Saturday is infinitely better than any time at all on Friday. 2. I have no idea how the scheduling of the 3rd/4th place finals which happened at like 8AM GMT / 9AM CET today could effect the timing of the finals. There were also not 6 and a half hours between the seperate game finals starting, there were three, about enough time to play a SC2 bo5 finals, do the prize ceremony and get everything set up for the next finals. With LoL you've got to get ten computers ready for the finalists to play a bo3 where each game can easily take an hour, longer than that with the breaks in between for bans and picks. 3. If the SC2 finals were anything less than a bo5 then there'd be uproar over the format being awful. The only major tournament that was using bo3 for finals was MLG and thankfully even they have stopped that now. Also, look, CounterStrike finals were on even earlier than the SC2 finals and I don't see anyone bitching about that. All that's coming across is that you don't like LoL and that if SC2 cannot be the last event on in the day then you'd rather IEM didn't have SC2 purely so it doesn't have to play second fiddle. Well guess what, when LoL is pulling in five times the stream numbers of SC2 and the developer is actually giving a damn about esports then this gap is just going to increase. Yes LoL is free to play and has a link to the stream when you start the game, and yes there are less events so their whole community will tune in when there is one but until Blizzard get off their ass and actually do something to support esports that involves more than just sending Rob Simpson along to commentate then this is only going to get worse and worse and worse at least until HotS is released.
It is very commendable of you to react with such strength of emotion, you certainly have your heart in the right place. But please understand one thing, I am not against anything, I am not for anything.
I only wanted a reasonable debate about the motives, the advantages, the disadvantages, the possibilities when scheduling such an event. Please don't view this as a game versus game thing.
1. Fair point maybe, why didn't you say so from the beginning instead of arguing for arguing sake? For those of us which has to attend work 8-17 the IEM has not been very good to watch these weekdays, so I have watched replays. Which is not so fun. Please see: http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=319315¤tpage=25
Am I wrong in claiming that more people watched IEM Brasil than IEM WC? What does that say about the scheduling? Wasn't the lineup better for this tournament? For me a final late on Friday would have been preferable as I am not to keen on watching the re-runs (although I do).
2. Every match introduces uncertainty into schedules. Every uncertainty would introduce margins in the planning. I used the TL calendar for the starting times, considering the 3/4th and 1/2th match as the SC2-final.
3. I was thinking more like a BO7 and have the 3/4th match at an earlier point in time. Or maybe having BO7 the day before and consolation matches the day after.
LoL isn't the point. Let's take LoL out of the equation shall we? They are doing great, so there is no necessity to discuss them. It is about having SC2 games at an convenient time for viewers. This wasn't the case for me. So I wanted to discuss possible remedies to this. Maybe Cebit isn't the best venue with those closing times? Just a thought, why shouldn't we be grown up to discuss it in a calm way?
I am sorry that you are projecting your own prejudices on me, try to be as unbiased as possible when discussing with other people. It is easier to polarize the issue than to seek understanding, please be humble.

Yes the game usually ends shortly after one player is 50 supply ahead.

Depends on the matchup. If it's PvP, TvT, ZvZ or PvT then yes.
If it's PvZ or TvZ then it can frequently go on significantly longer than that, with the person (not Zerg) 50 supply behind still winning a lot of the time.

That's odd, I've heard the exact same things said about SC2...

Yes but that isn´t really relevant to the spectator. That´s just the design that zerg units are weaker and inflate your supply.

Congrats MC! Great finals, hopefully Puma and Feast get GSL seeds, Code S for Puma and Code A for Feast.
|
I shook MCs and MMAs hands, i am going to beat everyone on ladder now!
|
Well I don't think MC is still the best Protoss in the world but I still have to admit that he's the only that has the heart of a champion. He thinks like a champ and win it like a champ. Other Protosses don't have that attitude, they afraid of the final matches.
