The ideal map would allow for both early aggression and an evolution into long macro games.
My ideal game to watch would be one where player 1 starts with aggression in the early game, player 2 defends and decides to become aggressive in the mid game, at this point lots of action happens and the game goes back and forth, players stabilize and go to the late game, now they bring to bear their best macro on multiple bases, multi-tasking all over the map and precision army movement and control.
If maps restrict games to late game macro fest's only then it can quickly become boring. Korhal Compound doesn't look that bad yet, yes you can place some tanks on the high ground but it doesn't directly hit the hatch and the tanks can still be flanked and such. Time will tell how people's view on the map evolves.
Great tournament overall by Asus, loved it all. Great casting, great quality of the streams, 0 lag for most of it, no long wait times between games. I'm looking forward to future tournaments!

Are replays going to be released from the tourney? There are some sick builds that I need to copy

He's not really arrogant or cocky. It's 100% humor.
Only topic where he is particulary arrogant is about ZvP since he sincerely believes no Protoss can beat him if he doesn't mess up (has said it on several occasions).

Maps do play a role in the match-up, especially ZvT where positioning is everything. Polt is very experienced with exploiting chokes and ledges, and a map that has them will make it that much harder for Zerg to deal with him.
Stephano needed to be more patient, but in general his engagements were not as bad as people made them out to be - a lot of the times, he was simply forced into making unwinnable calls due to the way Polt positioned his army. That's why he chose to counter-attack so many times.
Stephano, unlike most other players, doesn't just engage haphazardly. He too very good at making proper engagements and that's why many times he would test the waters and back off - he's not a player who just crosses his fingers and goes in. But Polt didn't give him many opportunities in those games. Map plays a factor in that.

I'm guessing the games should be played on a completely flat map then. :p These are the maps that you people voted for! (Korhal and Cloud Kingdom).

3-3 marines are imba. Thanks for making it glaringly obvious Polt!

I was never interested in Polt cause I'm not Terran and there isnt as much content from Korea about players/characters. But man, he made me a fan. You could really see how happy he was to play there. Even if things didnt go well he had always a smile on his face. Such a nice aura around him.

Lol at all the people crying imbalance. Polt knew that stephano uses a very abusive ling heavy style and he used that knowledge to his advantage. I don't see stephano ever beating a player much better then himself anymore like he is used to now that terrans should know how to stop that very very abusive mass ling style.

or: maybe polt is just a very very good player

All of the games were fairly close but Polt was clearly more consistent with his game plan and much more aggressive than EU/NA terrans that Stephano regularly faces. It's been a tough work to beat a great zerg like Stephano, but Polt was extremely patient and kept up with his micro/macro all game long. That's the difference between a Code S level korean terran and a top-notch foreigner. The Koreans always make fewer mistakes no matter what pressure they feel. Apollo put it in a perfect way: Polt, the GSL Super Tournament champion, definitely knows what it takes to be a champion. On the other hand, though I'm not a big fan of Stephano, his showing really convinced me that he's probably the best foreigner the scene has to offer right now, certainly the best zerg out of KR.

Yes clearly, Puma is a terrible player getting 3-0 and Polt is God of starcraft for beating Stephano. All is clear now, Stephano is a gimmicky player he is figured out, no way he is good. The finals were so one sided it makes GSL finals look exciting, the amount of sarcasm in this post is incredible !

Really disappointing. Anyway, I just saw a terran beat armies with broods, ultras, and infestors, without making a single ghost, so I'm gonna ignore those people whining about snipe now.
On a side note, why do tournaments even have korhal? Don't they usually avoid small, uninteresting maps with a difficult to hold third base? They should. Err, you're complaining about a map that came out of the TL map contest... And don't talk about the ghost nerf, we didn't see proper zerg deathballs in these games. And let's be fair, Poltimus outplayed Stephano pretty heavily in macro and micro and yet kept on losing his armies to infestor ultra, the composition ghost used to counter. Enjoy the great nail-biting games!
Didnt you see the lucky vs POlt ganmes? Yeah I reckon you aint using your brain too much lately... Its just now, you cant go uuber mech into mass ghost, you need a mobile army to wreck a deathball.
