He was able to build a bunker *almost* in time, although it just delayed his death.

Micro as T to stay alive. (btw, these aren't Terran tears. I'm a Protoss player.)

His strategy didn't depend on aLive not scouting. aLive went for expand, which means not enough marines to shut it down by scouting it when there's 1 stalker guarding the stargate.

Was interesting to watch but not sure how viable it is if the Protoss is more prepared. The thing is, that is true in so many respects for every race. There are still so many unexplored avenues in the late game of most matchups; whoever comes up with something fairly new holds a huge advantage just because reactions have not been defined or even thought out. There is so much gripe about late game balance, but honestly, we are so far away from being able to see the whole picture. We only get to see small glimpses of what will come; just as the way players played out late game in 2010 now seems ridiculous and plain wrong, it is hard to accept that we will not look back at the established truths of early 2012 and laugh in the future. (Of course, HotS might just invalidate this, but oh well).

Something doesn't sit right with me about this mechanic in an RTS its extremely hard to deal with if you don't have medivacs or burrow roach as zerg. You can basically cut the army in half automatically and deny the expo and/or kill the one half army off. and workers

I know the feeling, "I got this high ground bunker, HA take that all-iner," and then you just get out-maneuvered because you didn't take extreme precautions as you fear your enemy is double expanding or that your own cleverness will stump him. There's times you just have to understand the game situation and make more logical and safe moves, especially when you're already way ahead assuming a solid defense. Even if Genius pulled back in some perfect retreat, making good trades but aLive defending without taking crippling losses, aLive's ahead by virtue of expansion.

I understand why it was basic micro that zergs do with queens all the time vs 3 VR pushes in PvZ. It's impressive micro, but not worth everyone claiming that it's the best micro in the world.
