I still don't get this arugment. He didn't win because of MECH. He won because of a MECH timing attack! Because that's not mech apparently. mech gets worse as the game goes on, the timing attack effectively keeps the game from progressing by resetting the econ of protoss and continuing to grow the econ of terran. Look at the battles, even with an econ disadvantage, Genius did really well in the battles vs hellion/tank. I mean, isn't that kind of the point? I mean, I guess a comparison would be MMM vs. Mech in TvT. The MMM player attacks and flanks to keep the tank count down so the Mech player never gets enough units to really punish the MMM player, while taking more bases because they have map control until the mech player gets enough tanks which the MMM player is keeping down by being mobile. I'm not trying to argue mech is better than MMM vs Protoss, just that MKP did it and won with it. Nobody ever denied that mech could win if you managed to luckily kill 20+ probes early on. In fact, if you were to go through my post history you would see me saying months ago that the only time I would ever win with mech was if I managed to kill a retarded amount of probes early on.
that's my feeling too, and that seems to be the lesson from Goody TvP mech play. (mech had very powerful way of harass -- hellions, banshee --, but it's overall bad in army confrontation vs a good toss).

i think skymech is ok but it will always lose in direct engagements to storm+immortals+archons+chargelots+collossi out on the map
however, if the terran is defensive in his base with a 3-4 siegetanks behind a wall of depots and bunkers, the toss cannot attack into that because vikings instantly snipe and kill all the collossi then the rest of the army dies in the choke to tankfire after hellions vaporize all the zealots
i believe the best way to play mech is mass hellions, mass vikings, and then about 5-6tanks ONLY used for defensive purposes. you harass with vikings and hellions, and if the toss attacks you he dies because your tanks are sieged in defensive positions
upgrade mech and air to 3-3, while bio will have zero upgrades. with your first barracks, techlab it up and use it to make some marauders every now and then. marauders with zero upgrades still do 20 damage to stakers/immortals/collossi and arent bad without upgrades. the main rax unit that benefits from upgrades is marines, but if your going skymech as terran then you can rely on pure vikings for anti-air, with hellions being a mineral dump, and your first rax is used for some marauders and thats it
so thats how you play it. never attack the toss just be defensive with tanks while harassing a ton with vikings and hellions. if the toss ever moves out to attack you or your expansions guess what 20 vikings will land in his mineral line and 20 vikings vaporize a base in seconds. in fact 20 vikings deal as much ground dps as i think about 25 stimmed marines
so you can expand alot and if the toss tries to attack your expansions, 20 vikings destroy his base. so the toss is forced to be defensive and eventually it reaches 200food vs 200food and THEN the toss can attack. at that point only use your 5-6 tanks as defensive tools behind bunkers/depots at your bases and hopefully you can get 3-3 battlecruisers by that point and 3/3 battlecruisers combined with 3/3 vikings and 3/3 hellions will decimate toss

He's just the next flavor of the month. People just look at peoples most recent games and judge them. Parting could do amazing but he hasn't proved himself enough lately. His play seems really fucking greedy and terran just hasn't learned how to deal with it yet.
