I wish more players would get together and make a fist against the ridiculous situation that is BNet 0.2 without LAN support for tournaments. Think about it, how much trouble has already been caused by the constant lag issues whenever there is even a slight peak of activity in a concentrated region of BNet? A Lot, too much.
The delays affect the mental state and focus of players, cause huge delays and problems for the tournaments and more. Then there is the constant issue with Blizzard having to whitelist events and not doing a good job at that. That some players stay meek and pretend to be blind to the issues at hand doesn't mean it's all fine and dandy.
I have been a Blizzard fan my whole life, but it's getting out of hand with the obvious degradation of their online and offline service and support. This combined with a much larger professional gaming scene makes for one bad formula. I do hope that Blizzard is working on a solution for these constant issues, and I fully agree with the decision of Naniwa.
I think the best picture was drawn at IPL when people had to play singleplayer or BW when internet went down to warm up. I couldnt stop laughing. Even freaking WoW has LAN version.
And i dont understand why IEM gets so many flak, at almost every other tournaments similar conditions were present. IPL, HSC, MLG, even there was a regame at GSL.

Maybe Naniwa just rage quit the tournament like we ALT F4 from a loss in StarCraft but then we come back. He just does it at another level :D .

!!!! YAY !!!! That's great! I know I said I wasn't a fan anymore a few pages back, but when your a fan, you can help it And I do understands Nani's rage, but upsets me he forfeitet after one game when this issue might desolve after awhile (: Ok, now nani please just, dont type. Be nice and try your best!
ESL should just have him kicked after forfeit. Now he "changed his mind", what a joke.

Even if that was true (and he's nowhere near that bad) he is still 100 times more mannered.

I personally got no problem with Naniwa's decision this time around. Playing with lag is a problem, if it's a normal ladder game. Not to mention the prize pool of the tournament. Maybe could've asked for a re-schedule or something in that line, but it's his call in the end and I don't have anything bad to say about this case. Probe rushing thou - pretty stupid :D

On January 19 2012 22:52 TeeTS wrote: Well this situation is completely different from the one in the Blizzard Cup...
A tournament has to guarantee proper playing conditions. And LAG is the worst possible thing that can happen. As TLO said on Apollo's stream, you'd rather play without a chair than with lag, especially as a pro gamer. And when you host a big money offline tournament you have to make sure, that your internet connection is capable enough. REALLY big organisation blunder.
And it doesn't make any sense to discuss which player may be more affected by the lag. It must not happen on a tournament that wants to build up such a prestige like IEM wants. It seems like a fuckin joke to me, to be honest.
I am pretty sure they checked the internet beforehand...
1. The venue is a huge permanent eSports-LAN-cafe that should have perfect internet connections for hundreds of pc's at the same time anyway
2. They used the same venue before
I guess the problems just occured today and could not be foreseen.

lmao all the swedes are getting so defencive <3 love the patriotism tho : D

100% sure Tiger Woods would refuse to play with a broken golf club also.
Good point, hope the new PC they're checking out for him will let him play 100% or close!

Would DDE forfeit a tournament over a game? Naniwa is a disgrace to ESPORTS and Sweden overall

Lets say you have a desk job, and your boss supplies you with a chair that falls apart if you sit in it a certain way. Would you just do your job standing up or would you ask for a new chair?

With all respect, I don't think NaNi gives two craps about "your" spot, if that spot includes a two hour delay and then being forced to play on a laggy PC/connection.
