lol sounds like someone told Naniwa how ridiculous he was being.

Maybe we'll see a full group afterall.

Nani is back in the tournament area, checking another PC. He is not officially out of the event. #IEM

LOL Naniwa, forfeiting the tournament due to technical issues. Everybody else continues to play. Ridiculous!
A wasted spot for the tourney...

Excellent move by Naniwa. If he's uncomfortable playing in lag, it's a superior choice to forfeit rather than play. If he loses all his games his reputation is harmed much more than picking up his keyboard and mouse and leaving. In fact, the latter increases his popularity and defines his personality.

Good choice.

It's Blizzard and IEM's fault. Blizzard for being greedy asshats that won't give us LAN, and IEM for forcing them to play under these conditions. But Naniwa should have tried his best regardless for his team and his sponsors who presumably paid for his travel and stuff.

I respect Naniwa for making this decision. I wish more players would get together and make a fist against the ridiculous situation that is BNet 0.2 without LAN support for tournaments. Think about it, how much trouble has already been caused by the constant lag issues whenever there is even a slight peak of activity in a concentrated region of BNet? A Lot, too much.

The delays affect the mental state and focus of players, cause huge delays and problems for the tournaments and more. Then there is the constant issue with Blizzard having to whitelist events and not doing a good job at that. That some players stay meek and pretend to be blind to the issues at hand doesn't mean it's all fine and dandy.

I have been a Blizzard fan my whole life, but it's getting out of hand with the obvious degradation of their online and offline service and support. This combined with a much larger professional gaming scene makes for one bad formula. I do hope that Blizzard is working on a solution for these constant issues, and I fully agree with the decision of Naniwa.
Balance. Enjoy the process instead of focusing on musts.

He acts like a 10 year old. I guess he phoned his Mum (or maybe, and more likely, his manager) and she (or he) calmed him down -_-'

Via @IntelIEM

WTF naniwa??
you could at least have forfeited before losing to strelok or after advancing from group play, now you are unrightfully taking the win from strelok.

ehm, Strelok still gets his win for this, White Ra and Titan gets walkovers
http://wiki.teamliquid.net/starcraft2/IEM_Season_VI_-_Global_Challenge_Kiev

would be 2/1 for strelok vs 2/0 from others. It's a disadvantage, hope Nani stay's in though and otherwise make it a 2/0 for Strelok.

All the sporting analogies fail, this isn't a safety issue. It's just an annoyance that makes them play a bit worse. Pro's put up with it and do their best. Everyone's under the same conditions and they'll still be a winner. The issues will be worked out before the end of the tourney, nani should've just hung in there but got pissy cause he fucked up vs strelok.

Lag doesn't affect everyone in the same way. Players that prefer a more passive macro style will arguably be less affected by lag then players that rely heavily on micro.

For example, Goody would, due to his playstyle, not be as affected by lag than a player like MKP. You can still put a ton of tanks in good positions relatively easily with lag, but marine-splitting against speed-banes on creep becomes a whole different matter with lag.

lag or not its kinda disrespectul to ff a tournament that u got a free invite to

So you mean that tournaments have no blame in not managing to make a lag free environment. Lets not cut the grass for the football players next so they cant play their game and see what happends, this might be a smaller scale than big football tournaments but its still the same principle.

It's more like quitting the football game because it started raining. You can't control bnet .20.

this^

It's more like playing football with one leg because you had a limb cut off.

How is it more like that. Fine change the analogy but you still have to apply it to both players equally.

Because they didn't just get off a 20 hour flight to get there

titan went on 20 hour train ride, soooo (RUssia be big man)
So.. this Earth, nice planet you might say- WRONG!!
