Here we go again. This weekend is about good games and good fun. Don't rain on that parade. Play nice guys. Here's the very standard and friendly:
- NO Balance Whine. - NO Player Bashing. - NO Caster Bashing. - NO BM whatsoever.
Breaking these rules (from pg 166 forward) will be met with severe punishment. |

I was an instafan when i think open season 2 maybe when all the fOu guys were tearing it up in the early rounds. He always showed such great play so early on. We all know how he'd get 'bad luck' and face top notch players and get knocked out of GSL right away. It was very frustrating as a Leenock fan! But even him getting knocked out he never played particularly bad, he just got outplayed by better players. Such is life.
He'd show things though which set him apart from other Zergs which is what i loved most about his play. He would build more than one spine crawler for defense while other Zerg would leave expos completely undefended and lose them to single medivac drops.
He's the only guy to really use baneling mines. Well, him and NesTea, but Leenock really took Banelings to a level NesTea couldn't be bothered (or didn't need to). I remember once Jinro commented on how annoying baneling mines were, but we never saw them! Jinro then revealed he practised a lot with Leenock. It's no wonder.
Leenock also had some of the best bunker rush defense ever. Terran would bunker his natural and he'd calmly destroy the rush every single time without fail. You knew he'd never lose to a bunker rush. Although MMA decided recently to 2 rax bunker rush, which punished Leenock. But he made it out of his GSL group and looked really good in doing so.
The underlying story of The Leenoctopus has been his juggling act with School and SC2. Every time he'd lose, i'd be thinking in the back of my mind "if only he was full time...". It's the same with Nada. It's difficult seeing players lose knowing that they are being held back by something. You can call it an excuse, just like jetlag. It's real, and it hurts the viewing knowing that one guy isn't able to play at 100% of what he could. To have Hwanni now say that Leenock doesn't go to school is like the final piece of the puzzle. Finally, the shackles are off. The Leenocktopus has been unleashed, and he is now Champion of Earth.
I'm so happy.

leenock deserved it mores, and people are glad that he won. he did what naniwa did in the first mlg of 2011. now that naniwa has gotten fat, he started slumping Get out! Funny thing is that naniwa has gotten really skinny and handsome lately!

Naniwa surprised me, because he's usually so solid about scouting and playing carefully when need be, but even after getting hit with early aggression three games in a row he really failed to scout in that final game and predictably paid the price. In a way Naniwa reminds me of Idra in that he's mechanically great and overall quite solid, but there's something often very staid and predictable about his play and it holds him back from being truly great. He's an A- level player and I think Leenock may be an A, and at his age he has the potential to become an A+ (aka true bonjwa). So you dont think Leenock was Olympic today?

DREAMHACK Winter will SAVE THE DAY! oh please. Naniwa got punished for doing same build. leenock outplayed naniwa hardcore pure and simple. get over it. Exactly. When one player "outplayers" the other player "hardcore" its not a fun final to watch. Given Naniwa labeling players "stupid" every now and again and the rarity of seeing players completely destroying their opponents strategically wise many games in a row, I think it was pretty fun to watch.

Don't worry for Terrans, GSL coming back soon.

They're a good watch. You can learn a lot from it.

I cringed a little whenever I watched Naniwa come out on stage pre game or post game because the crowd would boo him for no reason. On top of that , so many people B lined for the doors as soon as leenock won. what the hell? I agree. I also think that booing players is really unacceptable. I thought the starcraft community was better than that. this has been both the most epic tournament yet the most disgusting one in terms of crowd the WORST crowd of MLG history by far.
seriously? what's wrong with the crowd booing someone? it means they're emotionally invested in the series. every sport has villains. If they don't like what someone does they should be allowed to express it. no one complains about sports fans booing refs if they dont like a call and refs are a lot more innocent then players. heck the eagles fans even boo santa and throw snowballs at him and no one has major problems about it.

As a spectator, I personally hated every single game Leenock played against NaNiWa. I understand "It's a tournament, he does what it takes to win" but watching a Roach Rushx3 +7pool series is NOT entertaining to me. I'm not a Leenock fan in the first place, and while I'm not a NaNiWa fan either, it sucks to see someone go down like this. I personally feel really bad for NaNiWa. He gets told by NesTea pre-game that he's going to crush him, after he already beat NesTea once, proceeds to pause for a confirmation on the map, and gets hated on. Wins the series, finally comes out of his shell a little on-stage, and gets vilified for it. I think this quote from Slasher says a lot: @Slasher Rod Breslau Just spoke to Naniwa, he's sad the crowd boo'ed him, will bottle up his emotions till he wins the championship. Leenock wants a shot. #MLG NaNiWa has had people rooting against him from Day 1 of this event, and it just kept compounding. You could see on stage after he became the villain of the weekend, he kept his words and emotion to a minimum, and to hear the crowd being against you every game can really hurt your mentality. Congratulations to Leenock for winning MLG Providence 2011, he came from the Open Bracket and did the seemingly impossible. I'm personally hugely disappointed in the MLG Providence audience as a whole, and the ESPORTS community for their NaNiWa hate this weekend. Leenock outplayed NaNiWa in the finals, that's a given, but the play was not inspiring or exciting for anyone who isn't a Leenock fan. NaNiWa accomplished something no foreigner has ever done, or was expected to do this weekend, and got nothing but vilified for it. Good luck in the Blizzard Cup to both players, best of luck to NaNiWa in Code S next season. aLive better crush Leenock this season. + Show Spoiler + Naniwa gained a ton of fans. What is this melodramatic bullshit all about? I agree with you mostly, but stop with the world against Naniwa rubbish. You didn't watch the whole weekend, or see the LR Thread and Twitter and Reddit yesterday then. The community absolutely thrashed NaNiWa, between discrediting his Global Invitational wins, to smashing him for his personality on stage.
Naniwa can only blame himself - he bad mouthed his opponent and commentators amplified to to hype his games vs Nestea. The mob is fickle - it may be a shame but I don't think the negative feeling will be enduring.
Naniwa apologised for the behaviour and went out of his way to show respect to his opponents today. In the end he showed great games throughout the weekend and will bring a another foreign presence to GSL which is important to some viewers.
Naniwa is slightly polarizing and will always have his fans and detractors but I don't think he has much to worry about in terms of popular opinion.

Quick question, how did they decide on who got higher final rank for prize pool for Idra/Haypro and Mc/Huk

glad to have attended MLG dallas this year! the 2011 season has just been super bad ass, the korean-exchange is an awesome move by Sundance/MLG
can't wait for 2012

I was having the time of my life a couple of hours ago. My fellow swedes doing incredibly well and now everything is absolute shit. Im up at 3:30 am and have school tomorrow. Naniwa after being disrespected by so many people, loses in the most anticlimactic final I have seen since Nestea v Inca. The wheater is shitty, school is shitty and my life is fucking uninteresting. Fuck all of this.
Ps: Im Coming for you Fionn...

Heat of the moment man you see shit like that all the time with everyone else. Naniwa is no different. It only makes him human, so I wouldn't keep picking at that bone.
