Here we go again. This weekend is about good games and good fun. Don't rain on that parade. Play nice guys. Here's the very standard and friendly:

- NO Balance Whine.
- NO Player Bashing.
- NO Caster Bashing.
- NO BM whatsoever.

Breaking these rules (from pg 166 forward) will be met with severe punishment.

mlg is a joke. so every single mlg the finals are going to be unbalanced because whoever came from the winner bracket has a way easier chance.

This is how every single double elim tourney works.

The extended series part of it isn't how every other double elim tournament works... if DRG is in the finals against Naniwa starts out 2-0 and just needs to win 2 more of 4 games.

He doesn't know what he's talking about. It's two separate BO3's if Leenock wins

Uhm, you're supposed to have an advantage coming from the winners bracket Oo
How would it ever be fair otherwise??

I would say yes. DRG's worst match-up us ZvP.

Yea that's basically the idea. The guy who hasn't lost should be rewarded.

I'm okay with that, but the tournament seeding heavily favors past participants.

He has always been pretty darn good.

I think he had a combination of bad luck (losing to Liveforever, being in an up and down group of MKP and Nestea) and nerve issues early on in his career too. Glad to see hes playing up to his previous hype.

Even guys like Nestea has been tooting his horn as well. He labelled him the next big Zerg King in an interview.

Take it with a grain of salt.

Wasn't there money on the line?

Only 750 more and like I said earlier he doesn't need the money and he only cares about winning.

The difference between 1 spot means very little to him.

$750 is more money than he's won at most MLG events this season.

And it's irrelevant because players like him and huk make most of their money off their contracts.

It is getting paid $750 to win 2 games. There really is no excuse to not play that - I don't care who you are. No pro player is at the point where they should turn that down.

Seems that should be a decision left to him and his management.

yeah this is kind of ridiculous, he should be able to freely pick which matches he decide to play -_-

would have loved to see haypro vs idra though, if they would have even casted it

They never cast the consolation matches... so I have no idea why everyone is up in arms. If he doesn't want to potentially win the money leave him alone cause it doesn't affect what you get to see at all.

I think everyone is missing the point. Idra is essentially saying 30-40 minutes isn't worth $750 dollars to him. It's his job to play video games. He signed up for MLG Providence, is scheduled to play and is choosing not to.

That's pretty spoiled if you ask me. But I guess it's not a surprise, considering he asks for $300+ per hour of coaching.

He's free to play or not play in whatever games his team will let him, but that doesn't mean refusing to play isn't ungrateful/spoiled.

Does he really charge $ 300 per hour or are you just exagerating?

... Do you understand the concept of double elimination?

are there any other tournaments in other sports that have this rule?

imagine the world series:
oh hey cardinals you only have to win like 2 games since u beat rangers this season before

lol?

DRG's build is a bit desperate, might work though.
With an average game length of 7m36s over his 6 games in GSL3, this is a no-brainer. BitByBit pulls more SCVs than yo momma at a club on Mar Sara. ♞

I don't think so, I think MVP once took it with a simple Bo3. Not certain.

So that is half of the equation; now try figure out why that is so? Sure the MLG finals have been underwhelming, but why should the winners bracket winner be punished for winning every game? Every other play gets 2 chances, why shouldn't he?

Personally i think a straight Bo9 finals would be so sick!

I want DRG to win this to make it exciting; but Leenock baby! The unluckiest zerg finally getting things to go his way
