I don't understand that to be honest. You received a detailed email with dates, times and a link to the bracket on Friday. The date for today's cup was announced weeks ago.

So whoever is in bracket stage 1 are the only people who have a chance of going to Kiev? Europe's gonna be seriously lacking pretty much all of its best players in Kiev if thats the case...

Look here: http://www.esl-world.net/masters/season6/kiev/news/175922/

Today's qualifier is the "low-tier" one. On December 1st it will be the "mid-tier" one and on December 18th the top of the "high-tier"-qualifier will qualify for Kiev. I'm pretty sure we will have a very competitve European lineup in Kiev. Even though I'm extremely sad about the high caliber players dropping out today (Stephano, GoOdy, Osho, DarK.FoRcE...). Scheduling qualifiers like these are a nightmare right now with big events happening every weekend and players constantly travelling all over the world.

So today 16 players advance to Stage 2, next week we will host Stage 2 and obv afterwards Stage 3, in the end only 7 of all these awesome players will make it to the IEM Global Challenge in Kiev which will be hosted from 19 to the 22nd of January

The link you posted states that Stage 2 is december 1st, you said next week. Which one of them is it?
On the 6th day JF made Reavers and on the 7th day JF put his opponent to rest

So you're saying that the fact that there has been so many no-shows and thus default wins/losses for this tourney is coincidential?

I'm saying that all players were informed about date, time, IRC channel, mappool and tournament mode.

I know why some of the high profile players did not show up (see my first post) and I also know why some of the other players didn't play ("no time", "won't win anyways", you name it). What I don't understand is why you missed the start of the tournament... I agree that there were quite a lot of problems with the national qualifiers (and thus the transition to this international cup) - see the post of LaLush.

Is it that you didn't find your match on the ESL website? Or did you not check your emails for three days? I'm just curious why you blame the organization of the cup when you miss the start.

I don't really understand, what's the advantage of giving each country a different number of slots for the 3 stages, as opposed to just letting everyone who wants to play sign up?

I dont want to blame the organization for my missing the start. Just want to clarify that, no blaming or trash talking here. The tournament as a whole has just been very difficult to figure out compared to other ones, so you can take it as an attempt of constructive criticism, but regarding the emails, I have not received anything about when this tournament would occur. Actually, the only emails I have received from ESL for the last month have been about the national qualifiers regarding my signup and the specific match details for that specific event.
Obviously I could/should have checked the ESL website for when the tournament was to be played, but the fact that I have to do that to find out when my match is played, just makes it harder for participants.

Is the prizemoney for Kiev already secured, stashed, under key and lock? Or how long will it take the ESL to pay out prizemoney?
