Not taking anything away from his win, I watched the ZvZ finals and he completely outplayed Lucky. His game sense is crazy. The moment you say that you are taking away from his win. No, Stephano did not beat - head-to-head - the Korean players who were considered the best coming into the tournament - that would be MMA, MC, Ryung, and Puma - but he beat all the players who beat them. And by beating them, those players showed that they were themselves top-level players. So why take away from Stephano? I think a lot of people feel that Stephano is getting more credit than he's due. From my perspective, this cycle of overhyping one messiah only to abandon him and move onto another is pretty unhealthy. Stephano had a great tournament and is obviously a top player, but him beating mid-tier Koreans, (yes, they are mid-tier, because they have not shown to be consistently top-tier -- this should be an easy concept) in one tournament isn't any kind of proof that he's the greatest European player, or whatever else people are saying. While some are trying to discredit Stephano maliciously, that doesn't mean the points raised by others aren't legitimate. Really? Is every north american contaminated with ignorance now? Do you know anything about the european scene? Stephano is winning absolutely everything and european players are miles ahead of NA players, so Stephano is obviously the best foreigner, how can you even doubt that? You should watch some EU tournament streams or his own stream and stop being so goddamn ignorant. you call people out for discrediting his win and then do exactly the same and it's all based on typical north american ignorance, it's not just americans I've made the experience that canadians can and actually are a million times more ignorant than americans, there's just so few of them that nobody usually cares about them. Whoah; that's a really dangerous post right there. Why is it dangerous? it's the truth, look at all the north americans in this thread and how they are bming stephano. stephano has shown consistent results over a couple of months now, he has dominated the EU ladder, EU tournaments and now IPL 3. Yet there still are people who claim that "hes not that good". I mean seriously? How ignorant can you be.... name one foreigner that is actually better than him.... I really want to know? Thorzain? He played this tournament and lost, Idra? he lost to the guy stephano beat..... Huk? Huk lost to stephano...so who is better, seriously? This is what I mean by ignorance... the guy just won a major tournament with some of the very top koreans participating and all people have to do is talk a huge load of crap about him. And it's mainly north americans.... if you don't want to be called ignorant then simply -> don't be so ignorant all the time.
Honestly you are overhyping quite a bit. It was his first major tournament and he won which is quite an accomplishment but it doesnt automatically make him the best foreigner. Yes he beat several other contenders at that tournament but consistancy determains who is the best in the world, The reason Nestea and MVP are the best in the world is because they hold multiple titles. When Polt won the GSL no one was saying he was suddenly the best terran in Korea by a mile because they knew the value of consistancy. Stephano played some terrific games and made some amazing moves but also made a few mistakes which could cost him in future tournaments so its a bit to early to proclaim him the next god of zerg.

Wow Stephano!!! Makes me so happy that he won and so sad that i missed the semis and finals because of sleep. Damn . Would'nt have thought that he could beat TheSTC, but that he beat lucky was expected i guess. France ftw!
|
Well done Stephano. Shouldn't had doubted in you man, somewhere deep within I knew you had it.
|
Why are you guys arguing over something like "how big of a deal is the importance of this guy's win". Just STFU, enjoy the quality of the event we had and go to bed.

Because at least half the enjoyment of sports for most people comes from discussing events and players with other fans?
|
Gratz Stephano! You played really well and deserve this
|
Awesome Stephano :D This guy.. He looks pretty damn solid all around.. Great to see a non korean win a major tournament for a change
|
Damn stephano, really hope you continue to do well, great player. with a good sense of humor as well!
|
No matter what people say, the fact that Stephano beat TheStc shows he's the real deal. A foreigner beating any top Korean terran these days is a great achievement.

I was at school and just checked the scores and GOGOGOGOGO STEPHANO :D:D:D:D=D=D=D

Hm, to me, the biggest surprise is that the semis were (besides MMA) who they were... Definitely would say (before this event) that they were weaker players than many who attended. Lucky, especially, came from nowhere, his play that I saw vs Boxer, and many other players was VERY underwhelming, however, I didn't see any of today, so I could be wrong on that count entirely. Inori, also, got to his position purely based on his PvP, which was very disappointing. GREAT EVENT IPL, everything was top notch, nothing you can do about some rampaging trucks right?

Are there vods for the player panels?
|
aint there any restream or vods?
|
Holy crap. I just woke up and found out about that Stephano 4-0'd Lucky. Very impressive. Good job Stephano.

It's not a dicussion when neither side will ever compromise what they believe in. It's actually alot like politics, kinda pointless for Republicans and Democrats to attempt to convert each other.

Very well done Stephano Could only see his 1/4 finals against Inori but damn what a beast he was this IPL.Good to see a "Foreigner" winning a tournament where were multiple top Koreans aswell. Hopes this opens the eyes of other Europeans/Americans and practise even harder as they now know it is possible to come to the same level as the Koreans (In Stephano's case even without "Korean" training)

I'm actually quite sad to say this, but that epicly long game Stephano had in the bag a few times. The roach harasses that he was pulling off was no where near as effective as it shoulda been, and its not even like he was focusing the wrong buildings, he just wasnt attacking with them. He had an opportunity just before the end to kill kiwikaki's ONLY mining base, and didnt...
Kiwikaki did well to win it tho, he was pulling lots of tricks out the bag to stay in.

This one sided final i dont mind Grats Stephano!
