I think a lot of people had high hopes for what was billed as high profile UK tournament. A few people turned up to the stream, there's no news from anyone to say it wasnt going live, no news to express a delay and someone mentions there's no one to cast. People see MrBitters twitter update and 2+3=4. With no one to say otherwise you can only see how the rumour mill gets fueled.
Obviously mixed communications between a lack of ability to cast and there being no casters isnt the biggest mind leap you can do based on a bunch of people not being given any meaningful information, only snippets from friends at the event.
Either way, it should have been broadcast the stream wasn't going to happen and perhaps the reason for it.
I think anyone who had an interest in the sc2 event who are shuddering in disbelief that a bunch of people who organise LANs "professionally" cant order enough PCs in time for installation and testing before the event starts is arguably justifiable.
I'm just sad it showed the sc2 community how backward the uk scene is in terms of organisation and service.

Changed my mind - dont want to input more on something i have only read from anreliable source, however much i believe it to be true :-)

I disagree. We cast the last EGL, it was a mess. I didn't ask to be paid for that event, I asked for VoD rights just to cover my travel and accomodation. The VoDs ended up being so awful in quality they were unusuable, because the incorrect equipment was there for production. Multiple i-Series have had issues, with i43 being the slickest to date. Most of the UK events I've seen or been involved in have had a multitude of issues that put them leagues behind events in other countries. Multiplay is getting there and are putting in some serious effort, ECL it turns out has now messed up twice in a major way. Myself and Apollo both said "we ain't coming back" after the last ECL. As it turns out, it clashes with prior engagements we both had anyway, but by the sounds of it if I were down there I'd have been flipping tables, it is yet another UK event that has been a mess from the start if this thread is anything to go by.
I am hoping i44 nails it, with IGN's help I reckon it will. The UK scene has taken too many kicks to the bollocks already, we don't need any more.

Well, i agree with EGL TB. I dont care how bakor tries to deny it but you read through this thread and he's watched posts on TL and then added what they've said to the tourny, pretty balls imo.
I actually attended i43 and it wasnt as poorly run as this joke. It had issues yeah but it wasnt unenjoyable for anyone really.
In short - EGL needs to quit while its behind by the looks of it especially if the last events were as bad as you say, its destroying UK esports and peoples image of us.

Their console gaming scene seemed to be running smoothly and there didn't seem to be any major issues. From what I could observe walking around, people were enjoying themselves and it was running quite smoothly. I feel like SC2 just gets the short end of the stick because the ratio of SC2 to console gamers is like 1:50.
Maybe the SC2 scene just isn't big enough yet for proper tournaments.

Correct, The Owner of ECL, Mellow, Lives with one of the gears of war players, and former Halo player Loco, I spoke with him a bit when I was their for a LAN one weekend, EGL was originally just consoles, But they saw how big SC2 was getting and hopped on, Its good that they did this, but they havent given it anywhere near the amount of attention it needs.

You're funny .
I wonder why it is easier to run a tournament where everyone actually has a pc, sounds like a paradox to me.
On an aside note: I had tons of fun yesterday

Mellow is a good guy, the only one at EGL trying to make a descent attempt.

Lots of anger in this thread, I think people need to calm down a little and stop jumping down each others throats, we're all friends here.
I hope stuff improves today t_t
Just looked at the brackets though, nice Bling and Deranging!

Just need to cool it dude, you know what it's like on a forum, borderline slander, not quite just people assuming things. You are there and that's what matters really.

"Its easier to run a tournament where everyone has a pc" so that no effort needs to be made.
They made no effort to ensure it would be setup and look at the results.
Seriously, i made a huge post about this and removed it because i didnt actually attend and i dont want to make comments based on inaccurate info from a forum but setting up PC's for an event is a very basic thing for a gaming tournament, surely they would know to leave adequate time to find replacements / fix issues? its a joke.
And its probably down to their stupid venue, yes its mainly a console tournament, they attract people to it by having it at the arsenal stadium to make more money - which in turn actually fucks them over as they have loads of limitations on what they can and cant do and how much time they have there. Ridiculous.
@LeonStarcraft - dude he made an assumption / a guess he was not anywhere near "borderline slander" - now you have clarified im pretty sure he would happily admit his guess was wrong, apologise and move on with his life..you need to take a chill pill.

I think we should try to reserve judgement until the event is actually finished and we get some more 1st person experiences.
On a serious note, will the stream be up today? Wanna see derpranging crush some face.

I'm sat at my PC on stage and knockout stages are about to begin. We are encountering no problems yet but I've just got back from lunch and it looks like the crowd area still needs the seating organised. Peripherals-wise, I'm set up and waiting for the go from the production crew.

The one hand i'm disappointed I wasn't ready for the tournament here in london, but on the other i'm slightly glad i didn't bother... the feedback and views shared are bbbadddd.
I hope it all the issues get resolved, and today goes a little bit smoother, And one last thing, don't let a few posts on TL start an argument between us.

Good stream quality, if it stays this way I'm quite happy with the event as a spectator. I don't care too much about missing group stages Of course for the players there it is a bit disappointing what happened yesterday, but let's hope today goes well.
