MLG Raleigh Day 1 RED Live Report Thread - Page 394
Forum Index > StarCraft 2 Tournaments |
Obligatory public note for all large tournament threads: The following is a list of behaviors that will get immediate bans: 1. Whining about stream 2. Bashing other games 3. Flaming other users 4. Bashing players 5. Complaining about imbalance. It is in no way complete. Keep in mind that there's a difference between pointing out that the SC2 and CoD streams were switched and whining about it (same thing on pointing out/asking about stream lag and whining about it, etc.). Also, just because you post something and aren't immediately banned for it doesn't mean you won't get caught. We'll be going through this thread very carefully. That being said, enjoy today's games! Time stamp: page 38, 6:23.

Two team players could trade spots and suddenly the same players would be cheered against? Thats stupid. The only reasonable method of deciding who to cheer for is on an individual level. With the koreans, they have the better games because they are harder workers, and have the better skills. I am fine with cheering for Huk for example because he is a foreigner AND a code S level player when playing his best. Cheering for haypro over someone like bomber just makes my brain explode however. This tells me two things about you. A. You've never been to a sports event where anyone has given a fuck who wins. Visit a Major team sport event with your home town / home country participating and get a taste for it before going about it being illogical. It's called living a bit, instead of drying up in your own waste like an old fart. B. Underdogs are always interesting to root for, because the happiness to see them winning and the sadness to see them losing is a very worthwhile emotional investment and gets you pumped to see the games and makes you feel more alive. I feel bad for you, because with those arguments I can only assume you don't go out much. Really do visit a team sport event with a huge booming crowd and you'll get it.

I get sick of crap like this. Yes, it would be nice if MLG had arranged their schedule a little bit better. However, remind yourself of all of the following: There has to be a game about to start in order for them to "jump in" to one. They can't enter a game that is in the middle of being played. They're in group stages right now, and we're waiting for 2 of the groups, so that means at maximum there are only 3 games going on right now. Very possible that all 3 are in the middle of something. Supposing they can track two players down who are about to start a game, they then have to be at the right computers. MLG doesn't just have every single computer hooked up to all the equipment they need to stream in high def across the world. It's likely only the same two sets of computers hooked up to the two streams. It's much easier to rotate players than to rotate equipment. However, that means that if and suppose they found guys who were about to start a match, and if and suppose they could move them to the red or blue stream computers, those players would then have to pack up their keyboards/mice/etc, and move them, and adjust all their SC2 settings and etc on the new machines. We know from previous sets just today that this process can take upwards of 15-20 minutes. Those players would then have to stay at those computers until they're done playing, and you have no idea how long their game could take. This could conceivably screw with the play schedule that is announced beforehand. Say it's time for Huk to play Naniwa, the game that I am currently staying up to watch. Only when it's time for them to play, you have Idra playing Machine on those computers because they were put in as a fill in so we wouldn't have to wait and their game 1 was randomly 45 minutes long. Now I don't get to watch Huk and Naniwa on stream which isn't fair to me and the potential membership money that I bought, and it's not fair to Huk and Naniwa and their teams and sponsors who aren't getting the screentime that they were expecting because they were scheduled. So tl;dr yes, it would be nice if there were less downtime. But it's not so easy as just "jumping into any open game"

Foreigner skill will naturaly rise if there is more money, cause people will practice harder and things like ladder will eventually (up to 5 years) get to Korean level. Maybe if the prize money is drastically increased far down people will have more desire to win and thus practice harder, but what does that have to do with letting koreans play in the tournaments or not? The sum of prize money offered is completely unrelated to who decides to attend the tournaments... They're trying to increase that as much as they can regardless, which is in everyone's best interest, as far as I understand.
