The prize breakdown is amazing. It's evenly distributed enough for everyone who qualifies to not be disappointed, yet heavy enough on first place winnings to really make the grand final intense.

Evenly distributed prize pools are important, but grand finals that have a such a small difference in prize money between first and second place seem to take some of the competitive edge out of the games. Or maybe it just seems that way as a spectator because less is riding on the result.

$30,000 vs $12,000 isn't a big difference to you? That's gigantic... I'd argue almost too much of a difference (I don't think first should ever be much more than 2x 2nd place; for example, I'd make 1st $25,000 and take that extra $5,000 and spread among the other 31 players), but I do like how they are spreading the money to the top 32.

That's exactly what I said. So let me say it again.

You have to have somewhat of a first place price though.. I mean, 16 of the players will walk away with free ticket, free hotel and $1k, that's amazing really.

IPL, can we get a little more information on the site and tickets? What system will you use to distribute?

Obviously they will be in high demand and many of us (who would have to travel to the event) need to book ahead of time and want to make sure we don't get there and have no seats.

Hi there booshtv.

Ticket information and purchase will be available soon(tm) at http://www.ign.com/ipl

I am pleased to announce that we are taking seating seriously for this event. There are different levels of spectator passes. The premium passes (limited amount) will have have access to reserved seating areas in the main theatre (and we aren't overselling tickets aka people who have reserved don't end up getting "shafted" for seating during clutch match ups). So if you don't want to worry about losing a seat, you should opt for a spectator pass with reserved seating access.

There will always be open seating in the main event hall.

And to preempt questions, the break down is roughly 800 reserved seats and the rest are open.

We don't have any chairs in the main event hall. We have stadium seating.

Entry fee for the online qualifiers is $20 to help offset our costs, if you get top 2 in any of our qualifiers you get:

Free Flight
Free Hotel
Placement into the Championship Bracket (Minimum $1000 prize money)

Entry fee for the live qualifiers is $50, top 16 advance from the live qualifiers to the Championship Bracket.

Do the Koreans even know about the IPL3 qualifiers?

IPL3 was just announced today and qualifiers are tomorrow. I'm not sure if Koreans with poor English will even know about IPL3 in time to sign up for qualifiers.

Wait, invited players aren't going to be the top 8 from IPL 2? Lame. Koreans can come over by winning all the online qualifier spots.

Other than that, looks good.

Read the end of the writing and it explains why they won't be recieving those invites. In addition it is much more difficult for the koreans to get there than the other NA/EU players.

Oh and btw I am digging the Prize distribution. 30,000 is a nice sum of money but not too much to overpay the top performer / underpay the bottom half of successful players.

IGN hearing the community outcry that GSL and NASL prize pools are too top heavy!

I hope due to the prize distribution and paid flight we'll get lots of top players participating. I will be watching who qualifies very closely. Would suck that IGN puts out this very generous and gigantic event only for the big players to give the cold shoulder.

Just saying. Participation for IPL2 was... less than satisfactory.

We are reaching out to them as soon as we can verify our korean is correct.
