NASL possibly lost a lot of subscribers with this first day. Good thing people on the internet have a bad short term memory and will forget this shit quickly when day 2 and 3 deliver. Pressure's on NASL! No not really. To me it seems they still can't hold an event. I waited the first season to hope it would be better. But it did not. Even if the 2 day after this are awesome, they still did not prove to be considered one of the major e-sport events like MLG, IEM or DreamHack. This. Watching high beams on two of five casters (while the other three do fk all) against a black curtain backdrop, with the earthquake camera and sound in one ear doesn't really portray the same air of professionalism MLG or Dreamhack does. It seems like they went in two days in advance to set everything up. I'd say it was a disappointment, but every single week it's been like this. You cannot look towards the future and say it will be different, when 8 weeks in their stream was crashing and had sound problems. The prize pool is bigger than almost any other tournament, and the production value is a webcam with no tripod. It's absurd. And yet the irony is, you only proved Bobster's point by comparing it to the "professionalism" of MLG. Think back one event to MLG Dallas, and the MLG stream was so terrible that the entire TL was "omg this is the end of MLG I am never watching again!!1one!1". Fast forward it by a single event, and you're now using it as the gold standard of streaming. NASL will recover. It's well known that customers of anything will only remember their very latest experience. As soon as NASL get it right, which may even be tomorrow, all this shit will be a historical footnote. The difference was aside from the massive stream issues MLG Dallas production was actually good when stream worked. Also Sundance and MLG staff were in constant communication with the people watching. Also MLG gave peoples money back and offered free HD etc. in order to help lessen the problems going on. NASL doesn't done any of these things. They just have massive issues and seemingly ignore the viewers/customers. In fact in the past they have even been known to rant at the viewers/customers dismissing the complaints. Yes, but we could actually watch the games. I presume we all tuned in to see some Starcraft, as opposed to MLG's patented BLACK SCREEN OF NOTHINGNESS. My only real problems with NASL were: 1. The sound issues. Nuff said. 2. Too much talent, too little use. I didn't think it was possible to waste Tastosis, but they managed it. 3. They didn't have 1/2 of the content they needed to fill a 12 hour show. The padding was so obvious that it became extremely bothersome. Simple rule: if you don't have enough stuff to fill a 12 hour show, don't try to run one. I can't believe that they really thought the pacing they had set was a good idea. The intro movies for the games were longer than the actual games in some cases. I'm willing to forgive technical problems. Technology is a traitorous thing at times. But somebody sat down and planned this and actually thought that 8 BO3s were enough to fill 12 hours. That's ridiculous, and inexcusable. I don't demand the GSL from every event I watch, but it's not hard to watch a couple of GSLs and note how they pace the shows, nor is that too hard to emulate. They want to run a long finals? Awesome. Then bring the content that justifies it. Run a team game as a side event. Invite EG and Mouzsports for a showmatch for a smaller prize pool, split the finalists into four 4 man teams and do some crazy 4 v 4s for the lulz. I'm sure we'd all have been happy to watch Boxer/MC/Select/Zenio vs WhiteRa/Ret/Sen/Darkforce. Even if that sounds like a horrible idea, it's damn well better than making the broadcast teams talk over empty space. Especially when Tastosis and incontrol are the only ones capable of making that vaguely entertaining. Or add a losers bracket system. Sc2 is a volatile game, and making someone fly so long to such a big event and then having them eliminated from the entire tournament in a Bo3 is silly. Ret got robbed the most, finishing first in the NASL and then having to play a potential GSL Code S winner in Puma in the very first round.
This is what I wanted more than anything.
It sucks for people like Zenio/oGs who probably paid 1500-3000$ to get Zenio over here and he loses 2 games and goes home with 500$.
Losers bracket also could fill that 12 hours they had, where 6 hours were filler.

Sry for asking for the 3rd time but can plssss someone tell me about the Whitera Select games? How did they go?

This is how I feel.
Huks having success. HE MOVED TO KOREA.
If we cant even hold a league in NA, and only have one guy from the entire world advance. WHATS THE POINT?
Ether players start to move there and put in at least a year of training or they just stop playing, then otherwise, why watch?
I'm all for Koreans winning, but I already watch the GSL. This is supposed to be NASL, Not another KSL.
Ether the players commit to getting serious, or this will keep happening... again, Again, and AGAIN.
Brain adaptation is a combination of repeated stimuli being generated from competition and the structured environment in which it comes from.
We dont have that sense of structured regiment. They do. And thats why they will always win. Taking a game here or there isnt going to cut it.

everyone else got free flight and hotel
it's one of the few mistakes they didn't make

Also, use the double-elimination system, making the players fly from fuck knows where just to have half of them being eliminated after 2/3 games must suck really hard to the losing players.

Blah, they don't need to make a statement or apologize, as long as they manage to improve the issues - and there was improvement already within the first day. Overall, the technical problems created more fun than discomfort. The games weren't ruined, which is the only thing that matters. When it comes to SC2 play itself, this Day 1 delivered well enough. I will remember it as quite entertaining, rather than annoying.
The MC-Boxer match + Show Spoiler +kinda proves that SC2 is already approaching stabilizing maturity stage, where macro > micro, decisively. Boxer played great, and won many micro battles, but when he doesn't macro enough, he eventually is overrun.

G1 Xel Naga Caverns, Select opens 2 barracks pressure, White Ra opens with a special tactics fast dark shrine and robo, as well as an expansion, tastosis assumes he wants to go for DT drops. That's a lot of tech to go for though as well as an expo, and Select rushes the expo and forces it to cancel immediately, then simply waltzes up the ramp due to a miss forcefield and insta kills white ra.
G2 Crossfire. Same build from Select again, white ra sends in a quick stalker and zealot to pressure but it fails instantly due to select's superior micro instantly putting white ra behind. Select gets quicker expo than white ra and techs quickly to medivacs and begins harrassing white ra who went for collossus, he damages white ra with a drop and push, and takes the gold base at the same time, could attack further but decides to go back to his base and get even further ahead. Funny moment ensures with white ra sitting right next to the unscouted gold base but not seeing it, before eventually finding it forcing select into combat, white ra is on the run and makes a desperate counter to select's main, nicely force fielding himself in select's base and goes to worrk on the production buildings but he's just way too far behind, and select eventually gets in and rolls over his army and takes the series easily 2-0.

We dont have that sense of structured regiment. They do. And thats why they will always win. Taking a game here or there isnt going to cut it. If the Korean are not in the NASL then I think your argument will be "I'm all for the European winning, but I already watch the IEM. This is supposed to be NASL not another ESL." NA players need to step up. It's not they are getting destory they all have the skill to compete with the Koreans. We see alot of 2-1 lost before when NA players play against Korean. They are making alot mistake in game led to losing and need to be more consistent.

Catz was definately right. I think there should be an open tournament for Foreign players outside of NA, and then only a few of them make it into the league. The rest is strictly for NA players since its a league and not a tournament. Give the NA players a chance, because it really shows its not an NA league when this finals happens. Look at all the participants. Theres pretty much no argument against this.
|
Well I guess the players will know for the next season to throw their last game if they're in the running for 1st seed so they won't get screwed over as hard as Ret has.
|
Is the MC vs BoxeR VOD available somewhere? The VOD on NASLs JTV page cuts off just before that match actually starts.

giving NA players a crutch isnt gonna solve anything. They just gotta step pu their training. The koreans sacrifice alot of their personal time and postpone school and work to live in houses to train living only to play starcraft. Until the NA pros do the same they arent gonna get anywhere.
Look at the MLB, NHL, MLS, NBA. Nobody says anything about european players winning but when koreans do its a crime against NA players. quit that xenophobic attitude.
