- 2 hour delay before start unacceptable. Get out of bed earlier or set the start time later. - Test the projectors the night before. NASL clearly did not do any testing, as they were only setting up SC2 on the projectors whilst the stream was live. Unforseen broken projector in the morning? Have a back up (that was also tested). Have a back up for that back up. Very bad planning. Everything should have been good to go the night before, not whilst people are sat watching the stream waiting for SC2. - Get a decent sound engineer. For hours the sound from the left speaker / headphone was non-existent. The chat was blowing up for ages about how the left side needing boosting, audio needed total rebalance and the quality was terrible. I quit the stream for an hour or so, came back and it STILL was not fixed. Unacceptable. - The first observer. Oh my. No health bars, no selection of units. Some people said it was the smart cam, or some other dodgy setting. It was like somebody who has never heard of Starcraft 2 was controlling the observer. They were just trying in vain to follow the casters and were flicking around all over the place giving people headaches. - Delay between matches. Need I say anything on this? It was far too long. The tournament format was poor and we could have had way more matches than we actually saw.

I this point I wouldn't bother though. It was $25 for full season access to HD streams and VoDs. But I don't think it's really worth it at this point since the season ends in 2 days.

Good thing people on the internet have a bad short term memory and will forget this shit quickly when day 2 and 3 deliver. Pressure's on NASL! No not really. To me it seems they still can't hold an event. I waited the first season to hope it would be better. But it did not. Even if the 2 day after this are awesome, they still did not prove to be considered one of the major e-sport events like MLG, IEM or DreamHack. This. Watching high beams on two of five casters (while the other three do fk all) against a black curtain backdrop, with the earthquake camera and sound in one ear doesn't really portray the same air of professionalism MLG or Dreamhack does. It seems like they went in two days in advance to set everything up. I'd say it was a disappointment, but every single week it's been like this. You cannot look towards the future and say it will be different, when 8 weeks in their stream was crashing and had sound problems. The prize pool is bigger than almost any other tournament, and the production value is a webcam with no tripod. It's absurd. On July 09 2011 21:35 Rici wrote: who won the mc vs boxer match? I'm here to watch the games anyways, and so long as the stream isn't crashing regularly then I don't really mind the whole learning process for them. Im fed up of people saying 'give them a break'. I paid them for an experience that was absolutely terrible. As a sensible consumer I have every right to complain when a product or service I have paid for is downright awful.

Just because you're doing something for the first time, doesn't mean, you can mess that up, especially if you're charging for it. It's not like they couldn't, I don't know, get there one freaking day sooner? Or hire somebody, who actually knows what they are doing?

I hate it that there are sometime no such simple things like as a loser bracket. GSL doesn't have a losers bracket. It's not that big of a deal. The production value being worse than a Livestream Vlogger with 10 followers largely overshadows the lack of acceptable tournament procedure.

Someone has to already explain to me how you can't know these basic things: - you need to test the hardware (projectors, cameras in booths, sound) in before hand. - you need someone observing who knows something about the game - you need to inform the paying audience why they are waiting and how long you expect them to be delayed if this happens - you need professionals working on the production if you expect people to pay $25 for this stuff If they wanted to.. they could have went to Incontrol and asked about some of this stuff if they honeslty did not know ANYTHING about running an event like this. There are really no excuses.

You say, just a water please. And they shit in your face. Then they say, "oh, this is my first day, if you need a refill I'm sure it'll be better than the first one (when I shit in your face). And it'll cost 25 dollars). Now, I'm going to go out on a limb and say I'm not paying 25 dollars to get shit on my face.

The production value being worse than a Livestream Vlogger with 10 followers largely overshadows the lack of acceptable tournament procedure. the difference is you dont travel on an 11 hour flight to get to gsl, you stay there and compete. and gsl happens every month + now team league at the same time where as nasl is a 3 month build up. my major annoyance (beyond what has already been brought up 100 times) is the fixed map pool???? wth. tvz on xelnaga is meh, terran favoured at best then after ret losing the first game he is forced to go crossfire, W T F. he was screwed before the games even started and this is for the guy who got first seed. the whole setup is designed to favour higher seeds, but we all knew the winner of the open bracket was going to be a beast. to win 10+ box's in a row takes something special. the idea that ret being 1st seed getting an easier time was always a joke, 2nd seed actually has the easiest. so it turns out he gets puma who is an old bw player and is getting some noise from the korean scene about being a beast. 2 terran favoured maps? bam, out goes the first seed. g.g. on a related note i hate that people keep bringing up that if its free you should shut up and just take what your given. this is the most ridiculous thing ive ever heard. even free events need sponsorship or advertisement, so if you want people to actually tune in to your free event you still need to deliver a quality product. hearing people who are in the business of selling these products telling people to just not watch if they dont like it is kinda funny and is hurting ESPORTS.

Did you have all day free to watch the NASL which was what, 15 hours with only a few sets and regular three hour delays?
