Those who have a chance would be able to afford the 10 dollars registration feee. This will gurantee quality. IMO stop making noise over 10 dollars! Um.... $10 is not much of a deterrent, even if you're bad at the game. Unless you're like 16 years old, $10 is 1 meal.

That's the point, it's not much of a deterrent. But it's enough so they don't have 50% fake sign ups. It's a pretty well established system.

I guess Thorzain thinks he can play both at the same time, though. But yeah, the foreigner scene is still mostly an amateur's scene, and outside of the pros NASL already invited and those who are playing in DH, there aren't that many more competitive gamers.

Well, Thorzain is a fucking smart then. I don't know how any pro from Europe or Korea could look at the current pool of players and NOT find the time to play. All they need to do is contact Xeris directly and they can probably figure something out. Especially since it's looking like there probably won't be more than 200 players total in the Open. This reminds me of the inaugural season of GSL, which Fruitdealer won. The talent pool was very low, compared to how stacked the GSL is now. The NASL is the most lucrative tournament out there right now, and the first season is anyone's best chance to win it all.

No need. The Koreans involved in the NASL, should know about the this open tournament and they could tell their teammates and other players they train with. Additionally, it seems that some Korean professionals know Teamliquid, so they should see this very thread. And I think many people of playxp know about this, they can forward information of this tournament to the Korean scene. As much as I want to see the best Koreans participate in the NASL, I don't see a need to baby-feed them everything. If you are totally oblivious of the non-Korean scene, you can't complain that you miss the sign in of the biggest non-Korean events.

Alright, I don't think there's much point in anyone signing up anymore. Dimaga's got this. ![]() Seriously though, I'd like to see Spanishiwa in the open. And ppgBubbles. Bubbles is especially underrated.

Trying to be a professional gamer is a lot like trying to be a professional rapper or comedian or artist ... there are no scholarships, or draft, or schools or union. There is no linear career path that guarantees promotion or long term success. You have to put yourself out there, chase down every opportunity, and invent ways to make a living. It requires a tremendous about to discipline and personal accountability. For example, you can't be the type of guy that blames an employer's expectations or a tournaments inability to reschedule for not being able to participate. If a player can't make the time to participate in a tournament for $100,000 -- one that only requires a week of games and $10 to determine if you qualify -- than it probably doesn't matter how good they are at SC2. They should probably give up on professional gaming and get a 'normal' job like the rest of us.
