We will be moderating harshly in this thread. Think twice before you post. Things we are watching for: image macros, balance whining, "eagles", player bashing etc. We encourage civil and reasoned critique of our moderation - please post it in the website feedback forum.
Please don't complain about MLG stream quality or MLG itself. They work very hard to provide you with an enjoyable service.
Enough with the racism discussions, this is a LR Thread. Cut it out. -- updated 7:55 KST |
+ Show Spoiler +Just watched the first two of the Idra/MC replays and, good god its depressing, its as though there are two Gregs, one a relaxed confident guy who monstered MC on the opening day, and other a sulky quitter.
He really need some sports psychology sessions to turn this mental block he seeems to get around into a winning mentality, or eye of the tiger, as it was put on state of the game.

I am European so I did not see MLG. What are the best series of day 1,2 and 3?

The MC / IdrA Day 1 game on Metalopolis. The MC / Naniwa Day 3 game on Metalopolis. The MC / Losira Day 3 game on Metalopolis.
Wait, what is it about Metalopolis ?
Even iNcontroL vs. Princess happened on Metalopolis lol.
Oh, and Select vs. IdrA on Tal'darim - I think it was Day 1, but might have been Day 2.

I just don't see how you can hold this position after yet another round of Korean dominance in a LAN setting.
IEM, all of Korea was at the top. This time they took top 3, with the other 2 Korean invites only getting knocked out by each other (July never dropped a set to a foreigner).
Meanwhile the Koreans play like crap (relatively) in online tournaments. It's not a coincidence.

Even Idra said on SotG lag plays a huge factor in their worse online tournament performance. He's speaking from experience himself having lived there for so long.

Lol yeah. Or the recent thread by intrigue that kicked up a shit-storm.

Great event from MLG this time but dear god do something about those 300% volume commercials and if you had 1 stream muted, it would be come unmuted when the commercial came on and stay unmuted even after the commercial was over. And please show games even if the casters are on a break. Missing the whole MC - Thorzain series cause noone could cast was mega mehhhhhhhh

MC - Thorazain was not casted due to problem with sound, ie Thorazain could hear the casters.
twitter quote: WellPlayedOrg Not shown on stream, MC and Thorzain in game chat. Thor: I can hear casters. MC: good manner. If Idra, he would not have said. Thor: :"DD"

+ Show Spoiler +its the same thing that i thought in 2nd series MC didint even change his openings too much. Its sad to see Idra throwing 3 games in a row like that and even in the last game he played poorly compared to games in the first series

Such a shame huk didnt attend MLG mma didn't scout a proxy 4gate and died in 5 min, great build by huk but it doesn't say as much as you want it to. having a nifty proxy build for one game doesn't win a whole tourney Luckily HuK massively outplayed his allin with his fast expand build in game 1 then. And it was still more about MMA playing that horribly than anything else. Therefore showing that MMA isn't always a fantastic player.... seriously some people will do whatever they can to bring other players down. If MMA played horribly in one game, it still means he was outplayed, and it means he isn't consistent enough to show that he is a better player consistently. And some people will do anything to defend their hero. Someone tried to use the fact that Huk beat MMA as some kind of proof that foreigners aren't doing that bad against koreans and someone responded to that, no need to get defensive. There's a difference between having a bad day and just being outplayed.
I actually mostly thought it was an intresting thing to note, its not proof of anything at all, no 1 game is, something we all know so it doesnt really need to be said. People read in to much in posts. Im not claiming HuK are better then MMA just saying he certinly beatable by foreigners and I would be very curious to see how HuK would do in a tourney like MLG now with all the teamhouse practice he has gotten. Aslong as he can avoid PvP I think he can go pretty far =) But I must say, MMAs TvZ has probably the best lategame ive seen ever

Final game vod link is broken I think: + Show Spoiler +http://vod.pro.mlg-cdn.com/columbus2011/starcraft/STARCRAFT_B_06_05_MMA_vs_Losira_Final_Day9_DJWheat_Comms_ H264_750_2997p.mp4
Anyone has good link to download the vod?

I hope everyone will just cut the whining and step up to the competition. Just look at Nani, he was smiling and laughing after his + Show Spoiler + and he even looked like it was an honor to + Show Spoiler + against him.
Western SC2ers are not on the same training/disciplin level as Koreans are now. I wouldnt argue about skill that much its more a fact of time and motivation.

Has there been any interview with idra about his games?
|
huk lives in korea which means he's benefiting from a lot of what makes the koreans come in and dominate in these situations.
unless that argument is that those of korean descent have magical blood that makes them great at starcraft

Lag really is horrible, for the koreans in online tourneys

I hope this motivates a lot of players. I think that having these Koreans come to MLG's should hopefully cause the players to train harder, and practice more, knowing the challenge they are up against. And, more importantly, I hope our top 2 players, players who can compete with the best in the world, will not choke in the finals anymore.

sad to see koreans take top 3, but I really think we could have seen idra up there had it not been for the ridiculous mma match

Anyone can upload video of Naniwa's dance ?
