We will be moderating harshly in this thread. Think twice before you post. Things we are watching for: image macros, balance whining, "eagles", player bashing etc. We encourage civil and reasoned critique of our moderation - please post it in the website feedback forum.
Please don't complain about MLG stream quality or MLG itself. They work very hard to provide you with an enjoyable service.
Enough with the racism discussions, this is a LR Thread. Cut it out. -- updated 7:55 KST |

This. I feel like we're going to see an even better MLG at aneheim because of todays results. Sjow, Thorzain, Naniwa, and Idra proved they at least stood fighting chances against the Koreans they faced today alone, not counting Day 1 and 2. IIRC a few of the group play matches were 2-1s as well. The potential is definitly there. ya many of them didn't know where exactly they stand in terms of skill with the koreans. this will serve as a measuring stick, and hopefully will encourage them to work even harder If it doesn't the foreign scene will fall further and further behind....sigh.

i would love to see foreigners win but i want to see them win over a korean
i mean take the koreans ot of the mlg columbus and we would have just a normal tournament but with them we had the chance to experienced the best story's in the sc2 esport history
i don't care about the na/eu players i want to be entertained and when thy lose bad for them but this is not my problem train harder, don´t gg to early, don´t brake your hands etc.^^

Just 3 months ago we had IEM World Championships with Squirtle/Moon/Ace taking the top 3. I would like to believe the foreigners have gotten a bit better since then and though Koreans still swept, this time it was at least top tier Koreans doing so.

It will either way. The only way it wont is if foreigners suck it up and continue to challenge and face Koreans head on. Any other result will lead to the western scene falling. You can't ever reach the best if you don't face people that are better than you, so any kind of separation from the Korean scene is helping to widen the skill gap.

He didn't fire up and give it his all and fight to the last breath (MAYBE in the last game... but that was it). He was a broken man, especially in the third game. That's why MC wiped the floor with him, if he had been playing at his fullest potential (see day one), he would've beaten MC. yeah lets all make excuses. MC says he was jet lagged day 1 blah blah no one cares. at the end of the day u look at the results and it says MC > Idra.
Yes. MC may be better than IdrA
I don't understand why people are giving someone shit for this, there is only one person who is ARGUABLY better than Mc right now.

A korean won MLG, good, the forgiven scene needs to get angry, train hard and seek revenge at Anaheim. STORYLINES PEOPLE, STORYLINES! Well, a single Bo3 roughly once a month for half the year isn't "as much as possible" but yes, that would be best. I wonder if some sort of practice partner agreement could be setup. But I don't know if it would be successful due to latency. Hmm.

I used to llike MLG so much because I knew a foreigner I liked would win. Now with the best koreans coming over every MLG, the chances of a foreigner winning are slim. No more getting to see your favorite foreigner that you can INTERACT with (not here a translated interview) win MLG. So instead of wanting foreigners to improve to get to korean level u want to ban koreans so foreigners have a chance...i mean really do people with this argument even think of how stupid this sounds? No, they don't get it. They are twelve years old. I should start TSESL=THA SWEDISH EXTREEEEEEME STAR LEAGUE, that way a swede will win. None of those nasty americans. The thing is, there is still value and interest in knowing who the best players of each region are. IdrA wouldn't have nearly as many fans if people didn't recognize him as the best NA Zerg. Yet, if you only watched games where IdrA gets stomped by Koreans, that'd never become apparent and he'd be just another foreigner Zerg.
You can figure out who are the best players from a region even if Koreans are there. For example, one can deduce that Naniwa and Idra are the best foreigners given the results of this MLG.

Stop being ridiculous. First, you say language is the problem and then when someone refutes it, you go on to say "no hes a Korean and will always be a korean".
MC and a few other Koreans actually provide interviews all the time if you're following TL's SC2 forums. They do stream occasionally as well by request (often specifically for the foreign community), but the main reason they don't stream as much is that they don't like their 1st person view play being so widely available and scrutinized by their potential opponents.
You are for some reason simply bitter and jealous. That's why you don't like the Koreans.

tbh I think the foreigners who will actually use this as a measuring stick are already pretty close. I feel like soon enough we're going to see a divided foreign scene as well, those who compete internationally and those who can't. I won't single out any player who I believe will be on the "can't" side but players like Tzain, Nani, Idra, Ret, Jinro, Huk, (ik the last 2 weren't at MLG) ect will all use this as a REALLY important learning experience and come into aneheim looking for blood.

I don't understand why people give a crap about foreigner or Korean winning. I just want to see a good game. If foreigners or Korean can't play well, they lose.

agree, without the koreans mlg wouldnt nearly have as good storylines, drama or high quality games.
im pretty confident in the foreign sceen that the gap wont get any wider and that the top notch foreigners will be able to compete with top koreans in teh future and maybe even lessen the gap as starcraft is blowing up.

Can we update the OP? I'm streaming the dual stream rebroadcast on Justin.tv because I was asleep during the entire broadcast. I don't have the time to watch everything but I've love to know the results/recommended games etc now!

Well if you want to take that approach, at the end of the day MC == Idra. They took the same number of games from each other in the tournament.
I'm not fussed either way, they both got axed. Just saying your logic is flawed.

i wonder how long it will take foreigners to relize that you dont go to korea to get rich. You go to korea to get good.

Not as much as you would be able to if you ran a foreigner tournament, since a lot of foreigners would have been knocked out by Koreans without ever getting the chance to play each other. For example, we never saw a Naniwa vs. IdrA game - so who is the better player between them? In a foreigner tournament they'd likely be the two finalists (along with Thorzain).
