So instead of wanting foreigners to improve to get to korean level u want to ban koreans so foreigners have a chance...i mean really do people with this argument even think of how stupid this sounds?
No, they don't get it. They are twelve years old. I should start TSESL=THA SWEDISH EXTREEEEEEME STAR LEAGUE, that way a swede will win. None of those nasty americans.
The thing is, there is still value and interest in knowing who the best players of each region are. IdrA wouldn't have nearly as many fans if people didn't recognize him as the best NA Zerg. Yet, if you only watched games where IdrA gets stomped by Koreans, that'd never become apparent and he'd be just another foreigner Zerg.

That's why so many people are butthurt about idra losing, even though he got 4th place. They wanted idra to beat the koreans but he gave up
Yea dude he must've given not. It's not like he was outclassed and outplayed or anything.
given not?
Idra wasn't outclassed in any way. In short he played like shit because of what he did to himself. His mental state was nowhere close to where it was for the first day in which he cleaned out his group.
Idra crushed himself more than anyone else could have.
That's the beginning of the end for him and cheesing MC repeatedly didn't help.
Beginning of the end? You know we're talking about Idra here right... he's been pulling stunts like this for years now. Idra rage quit a game and lost the series vs Nony in TSL because of ONE probe.

MarineKing would be great at MLG. The guy has a great personality and shows amazing emotion during games.
The logical choice should be NesTea, MVP, SlayersMMA and whoever wins the super tournament.
NesTea - earns it by being the reigning GSL Code S champion. MVP - earns it because he won the GSL world championships recently. SlayersMMA - as reigning champ needs to be given the opportunity to go back and defend his crown. Super tourney winner - self explanatory.
They'll probably bring a legend (July raging through the open bracket was so awesome) and an up and comer (Don Rae Gu? Alicia?).
Getting the MLG invite is going to be something that Koreans are going to be fighting for now.
i would looooove to see DongRaeGu in the next MLG :D
We really should start a campaign thread for MLG to invite DongRaeGu to Anaheim. They might overlook him since he isn't currently in Code S or Code A, but the guy is one of most popular Koreans on TL after his GSTL performances and him streaming for the community.
I really want him to be invited. He would show some amazing games.
What I've been wondering:
- An all expense paid (reasonable expenses at least) to MLG Anaheim from korea can't cost more then 1500 USD. - I figure there's at least several 100 people wanting to get their korean idol (cough nada cough) out to an MLG event.
How hard is it to set up a paypal fund to get a korean into the open bracket? ;p

Call it what you want, IdrA broke. He did give up. He didn't fire up and give it his all and fight to the last breath (MAYBE in the last game... but that was it).
He was a broken man, especially in the third game. That's why MC wiped the floor with him, if he had been playing at his fullest potential (see day one), he would've beaten MC.
Honestly, the best way for the foreigners to improve is to play against the Koreans as much as possible. A korean won MLG, good, the forgiven scene needs to get angry, train hard and seek revenge at Anaheim. STORYLINES PEOPLE, STORYLINES!
I can't wait to get my hands on the replay pack from today's games, I didn't get to watch them today at all, and streaming takes up way too much bandwidth on my current internet plan (used 8/50 gigs of my bandwidth yesterday watching the matches ;_;)
I'm pretty happy that the korean invites won top places, I hope they keep sending koreans over to play MLG in the future! They made for exciting games, and good drama.

This. I feel like we're going to see an even better MLG at aneheim because of todays results. Sjow, Thorzain, Naniwa, and Idra proved they at least stood fighting chances against the Koreans they faced today alone, not counting Day 1 and 2. IIRC a few of the group play matches were 2-1s as well. The potential is definitly there.

The best solution to this would be for foreigners to train and be at parity skill with Koreans. Time for foreigners to step up.
That would be ideal, but if foreigners don't step up, as they didn't during BW, regional tournaments still had their place, as the TSL showed.
I think at this point it's close enough though (TSL, close MLG matches) that it's not really necessary yet. I think if the skill gap really gets that high the Koreans just won't show up like with BW

Only IdrA would be in Code S if he didn't leave Korea; clearly he can hang with Koreans as well.

I fear they've lost a lot of faith in us... maybe they should.
hopefully it's motivation for foreigners in the future.
I'm sure it will be. If you're someone like Sheth, who looks *dominant* in a lot of his games vs other foreigners, he would rightly have been feeling pretty good about his play and it's really hard to get better from that position. He (afaik) hasn't met any top-level Koreans at LAN before. Now he (and other players in similar positions) has, we'll see another jump in foreigner skill level I think, they now know what level they need to be at to compete, and they'll push each other at it.
I look forward to more Koreans coming back to Anaheim, and finding it a lot harder than they did at Columbus. I'll call it now: Anaheim finals will be Korean vs Western-player, and it will be a close series.

ya many of them didn't know where exactly they stand in terms of skill with the koreans. this will serve as a measuring stick, and hopefully will encourage them to work even harder

That's not fair, he canceled his CC, that IS pretty much an auto loss. The MMA thing was different. That was a strait up being consumed by his doubts. So I think yeah this could be a dark time for IdrA...
OR he could fire up and just be amazing from here on out.

If Koreans don't play with the foreigners, the skill level will just get wider and wider. While the Koreans stay in Korea, with the other best players in the world, and play tournaments in the GSL every single month, the foreigners will be stuck playing themselves and not improving.
The best way for the foreign scene to improve is to keep taking on the Koreans head on. I am positive that eventually someone will put together a run and at least get a top two in a MLG with Koreans.
Idra probably could have done it if his mentality wasn't so terrible.

MLG is a Starcraft 2 tournament not a popularity contest.. If you don't like watching better games with more multitasking and micro than I really don't know what to say.
I don't really completely agree. The MLG is probably one of the biggest SC2 tournament in western side. This is seriously going to hurt the income for the progamers, and may discourage new comers because they just can't find a western sc2 idol playing. Sure some would learn to find a Korean progamer that they like, but having one that speak your mother tongue (or something you understand) is something else.
No disrespect to western progamers through, not saying they are no where as good as korean (in fact, I think koreans are just a tiny little bit better in general, but that is also why they are better) this is my opinion as an asian myself.
It might be one of the biggest as an event but the prizepool is quite small comparatively with 5k first place every 2 months or so.

Foreign players have no one to blame but themselves. It isn't the Koreans' fault that they are better.

yeah lets all make excuses. MC says he was jet lagged day 1 blah blah no one cares. at the end of the day u look at the results and it says MC > Idra.
