So, if it grows out to be a greater scene and it gets more advertisement with all other parties included ofcourse i am sure that wont be a problem. The games of this cup and the future cups will be casted ofcourse. Korea could run its own women's starleague, whats stopping ESL from tapping the entire world for competitors?

Korea's sc scene is much broader as you know and female gaming has the recent years been growing rapidly but im afraid female gamers are more casual gamers and tend to play more wii or simple puzzle games rather than rts. However i am sure events like this promotes the games to other females and if we create a stage like this it may grow out to be of substantial event.

It's not like a sports where u need to use more muscles and stuff but everyone behind the pc = fair and square This type of tournament is a great way to foster community and to get more people involved in SC2, which is always a great thing imo. Good luck to the girls!

As if a girl can't have as much talent as a male moving a mouse and keyboard around. I thought segregation was a bad thing, people shouldn't judge skill at a sport or a game based on sex. No, they aren't segregated, because segregation doesn't just mean "women-only events." that would imply that women vice-versa could not join supposedly "male only" tournaments. Except the 100000 other tournaments that exist AREN'T male-only and all women are perfectly able to join them, it just happens that you don't see it. Also, the objections of "bias" are just plain stupid. There can't be bias when there's zero opportunity cost to any males, as once again, there are a bajillion other tournaments that us guys can play. This is simply an event to encourage a more "niche" demographic of the SC2 community, much like the High school starcraft leagues.

I am trying really hard to ignore these kind of comments but i am just persistent on trying to convince people like you how simple minded thinking that is. Its not about gender here.. its about promoting esports to the minority within the esports. The ratio is very disproportional. We are trying give girls a stage were they can shine instead of dissapearing in the mass. Girls can still and will still compete in regular tournaments but this is just an event for girls. We also want to give girls a chance to meet up.. and compete against one another. Male gamers are generally more competitive whereas girls are less competitive this doesnt mean girls cant beat guys of course. A lot of girls want to compete among one another too so this is a perfect occasion for them to do so. Last but not least, as girls are a huge minority in sc2 scene we really would like to foster the community with this and let it grow and bring more girls in. Please think before spam with msgs of female based tournaments being sexist because its just a short sighted argument.

I mean people make Nation based tournaments and somehow I don't see everyone jumping up and calling why can't the French compete with the Ukrainians? Are they not equal? It has nothing to do with it... It's just an even for a specific target audience for a specific reason. So yea people organize events as they please. Have a problem? Don't tune in or make a better event yourself... EDIT: Just a silly question: how do you know/enforce it's a girl signing up/playing? I mean it's an online event

Its pretty obvious that there are fewer females openly involved in sc2 as compared to male participants so dont you think its a good thing for all of us to help make it more acceptable and put the minority in a "spotlight" (sorta speak) to help encourage that part of the community to grow? The tourny isnt about females being less gosu than guys its about showing off the female players skill and what better way than vs there fellow female players, i think its a great way to further develop sc2 and make our community more diverse. gogo ESL Female cup5!
