Also your example wasn't probably poor it was horrendously poor. A better example would be: The Lakers are playing the Heat in the playoffs and Lamar Odom got injured, it's definitely going to hamper the Lakers ability to play well as a team and put them at a disadvantage, it doesn't make the game "unwatchable" because one team is at a slight disadvantage. But if you feel that way you don't have to watch. But saying flat out: "These games are unwatchable" is just plain ignorant. If they are so unwatchable from an entertainment or competitive standpoint (not a legal or moral standpoint like your wife beating example) then simply don't watch. I take that back, it wasn't a poor example, it was a good example. The point is that there is some sort of injustice occurring. I don't see how you can compare getting injured with having to play with lag. There's a certain parallel but it doesn't work completely. Of course, the injustice part is a whole different perspective on the issue that you obviously don't agree with, so this is a case of agree to disagree.

Out of 12 people who passed into the second round, 7 are EU, 2 US (1 of which prefers the EU server, qxc), 2 Koreans and a Taiwanese player. I couldn't be more stoked about the results. As for lag, Jinro explained it pretty well here: http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=205366 Yes, lag CAN play a semi-large factor in the outcomes, but not nearly as huge as decision making and strategy. The Koreans (as you can well see if you read their interviews) just basically dropped the ball on any kind of practice or researching their opponents. It could be due to overconfidence, due to unfamiliarity with the foreign scene and due to not practicing with higher latencies, but fact is they were clearly outplayed in every match they lost. I do believe the second TSL will produce much different results, once the Korean and foreign scene get more in touch with one another (and that's happening all the time with the international tournaments and all the foreigners playing in Korea). Also, I think it's a good proof that SC2 DOES involve less down-to-earth, pure mechanics than BW, but that was never in question, and, at the risk of receiving megaflames from all the BW veterans (whom I respect and certainly understand their complaints) I think it's actually really good that this time around, the focus is on actual STRATEGY and decision making, and not just pure mechanical speed and skill. I second that. I am surprised by how many people focus on lag while not discussing how freaking good adelscot play-style was, pretty unorthodox compared to 99% of PvTs i see there, and that last push (with making walls behind him) come on !! u gotta love that PIMPEST PLAY!!

Genius missed with so many forcefields, he probably throwed em at the best time, but when the forcefield hit the ground 1 second after you throw them its easy to lose. Nestea reaction time was super slow those burrowed roaches, and all those lings he throwed into their death... Ace won IEM and hes not even close to nestea or immvp... hope we get to see some of the top koreans at a foreigner lan soon.

There were such huge mistakes in that game on Goody's behalf that it made me cringe.

There were such huge mistakes in that game on Goody's behalf that it made me cringe. He outplayed Nestea in terms of decision making. Nestea dropped the ball and didn't deserve to win. Goody was far better in decision making when it mattered than Nestea in game 3, hence he won. Moving from the nat to the mining expo wasn't a mistake by Nestea, it was brilliant play by Goody. The commentators said it was a bad idea for him to move away from the nat, but it wasn't at all and it finished the game off. Goody suchs mechanically, but his decision making is great, and you can't take that away from him. He deserved to win game 3 because his decisions were better than Nesteas.

Everybody keeps talking about what a beast he is, yet I haven't seen him win a single match yet (watching GSL and TSL). I mean, he did win the assembly with a lineup that I would call pretty sick, so its definitely not skill that is lacking...

And you can't prepare for lag. If you don't believe me, if you are EU, go play some MMORPG on brasilian server.. Now imagine it is SC2, with even worse lags.

Well..I'm not trying to say the Koreans lost because of lag, but it has always, and will always be a problem with e-sports. It's why in the past major tournaments for money are played on LAN. How often do you see a Korean pro gamers in the GSL miss trapping units with forcefields so badly that they end up blocking themselves from getting to them? I know Genius did it to himself atleast once by placing a forcefields where units used to be .5 seconds before they went off. SC2 is a pretty volatile game, and something like that could change the outcome of the game completely. Really when it comes down to it you just have to remember a very large portion of people on TL now are bronze-gold armchair athletes who have no idea what they are talking about. People who just trust implicitly in what the commentators are saying; even when it's blatently wrong. Now there is nothign wrong with that. It's no different than any other sport. People don't tend to get annoyed with the legions of sports fans who complain about their favourite sport while being too out of shape to even try to play it, why should SC2 be any different? Just remember that and try to learn enough so you can come to your own conclusions, don't be so worried about what the crowd says.

It was a poor example. This is a better example: Those two chess players are playing with a unfair clock, its affecting the game. Its the worst tournament EVER!! Well... dont watch if it affects you so strongly. And if somebody is beating his wife you shouldnt look, but you should act and certainly not have a discussion about you should watch or not, since the beating up is affecting the game so bad.
