After watching Adelscott vs. IM.MVP vods I am convinced that Adelscott won because he was better and nothing else. MVP did not do any large blunders except that he went for unupgraded MM against upgraded gateway units and I don't think lag has anything to do with that. I forsee Terran using mech against P to negate this.

I know this is real stupid but where can I find the VOD's? Couldn't see a link on the front page?

Just caught QXC's games against Genius. Pretty epic games, but Genius did seem a bit rusty.

Watched MVP vs Adelscott too. Just watch MVPs play and see how much Koreans care about this tournament.. propably playing casually like the thinker. Too bad, I was hoping for good quality korea vs world games here. Seems they are more disdainful towards us than I thought.
Plus he loses units that he shouldnt lose due to lag.

I'm not sure if you've ever seen MVP play before but typically he can control his units at an above Bronze league level and things like losing units to probes and being completely unable to kite are not the norm.

Considering MVP displayed zero unit control throughout any of the games Adel should have steamrolled him and the only reason the games were close is because MVP was constantly spending his money, whereas Adel would go into fights with 20-40 supply less than he'd have if he could macro well.

It seems to me that the only way to stop this kind of "blind discussion" is to make interviews with those Koreans who lost their games yesterday and ask them about their feelings and thoughts about all these lags - this will be the answer to all the questions.

I don't think this is really an option. If the Koreans had won maybe, but they probably don't want to come out and look like whiners. The TL guys might want to ask them about it privately though, but they're also probably already aware of exactly how much the lag can affect play, given that they have guys in Korea already.

As for the results, as Jinro explained sure the lag is an issue. Maybe slightly more for the Koreans than the Europeans when playing on NA server. But surely you can also practice for it and get used to it, so that it doesn't make you uncomfortable and affect the rest of your game - mechanics and decision making - so terribly much. If the Koreans didn't do that it's their own fault. Preparation is a very important part of the game as well.

In the end especially Adel and QXC showed some amazing games. They made so so many good decisions under immense pressure in their respective 2nd games. We should give credit where it is due and just appreciate the spectacle that was last night.

Koreans are also more sensitive to lag, its the result of being spoilt with LAN latency with their super fast internet.

Remember back in iccup days when Kors would draw a sad face T_T and just leave 3 seconds into the game despite what was imo pretty damn good lag.

On the opposite spectrum Chinese players strive in lag due to crappy net lol.

There wasn't anyone with a correct bracket after the first weekend. (best one was 7 of 8) :p

Now the leader has 10 of 12, I think, and 20 people with 9 correct predictions. There's a rankings page in the Bracket Contest thread.

What I really liked about the results today is that in every game the player who actually had to qualify won over the guy that was just invited. Its justice in some way.

I have watched every single GSL S/A game. So yes, I have watched MVP quite a lot. A few milliseconds delay doesn't explain why he donated his entire M&M army several times and made bad decisions about when and where to attack. Also, seeing MVP moving around his entire army between expansions and still not being able to negate Adels Zealot harass wasn't because of lag. Adelscott basically picked him apart. Now, MVP maybe went into this tourny casually and lost because he wasn't motivated and taking it seriously but thats his own fault.

Catching up on Vods... Nestea lost that third game because he forgot roach speed and only noticed when his roaches were too slow while closing in on tanks.

What are some other recommended games?

And he lost the second game because he was greedy.

I know several people have mentioned Genius' tweeting something about his TSL games, does someone have that link? I'm curious.

I think what we can all see after watching the VOD's is that the koreans lost their games, not because they were beaten, but because they did not play to their potential. im pretty dissapointed at the level of play. Blantant mistakes made by some really awesome players. Adelscots 3rd base was sitting there undefended for along time, very little harrasment from MVP and when he did it was so bad. meanwhile he didnt keep on on upgrades OR bases. well of course he'd lose. Adel could mass zealots and probably win the way MVP was playing. It was obvious to me pretty early that MVP would lose both games.

and Nestea throwing away 20 borrowed roaches whilest being pumped by seiged up tanks. i mean seriously. are you telling me that is the best zerg in the world at work?

watched all the games and concluded that

1. koreans lost because of latency/lags issues.
2 the reason the games were close was because the koreans were so good that they're still able to macro/micro with huge bricks on their feets
3. foreigners are huge biasers, when they won, they claimed it's skills, when they played on a server half a world away and lost, they claimed it's lag. they even moved to korea to play and practice to eliminate the lag issue, yet denied it totally when they won because of unfair advantage.
4. koreans don't whine.
5. foreigners, especially the bias blind fans.... are yikeee...

sickening...
