Players such as Jinro, HuK, and Adelscott did not apply for this tour, so don't ask why they aren't on this list. DIMAGA, Kas, and LaLush turned applications in late so they will not appear either. Please take some time to learn who exactly applied.

Please inform yourself about who applied and who didn't.

People need to stop worrying about the list for the first NASL, after the scrubs get knocked out and the better players start to qualify their way up it'll become even more awesome.

Allthough you explained the decisions on demuslim and nightend, based on the posts i just red i have the impression that their is some kind of unprofessionalism with the NASL. Especialy those two cases are showing how bad you communicated with the players.

I'm definitly not a fanboy of those two players but i want the NASL to be recognized by people outside of this whole scene and after reading the discussions about demuslim and nightend i tend to think that the NASL was not able to handle the applications well enough.
Why didn't you just asked Demuslim about his injury in the first place. This does not make any sense to me because YOU want to have the players in your league to be succesfull with it.
I cannot judge the whole case of Nightend beeing not picked for the league but i do understand his point in blaiming you for not cummunicating with him about this whole VISA thing. After reading your explantation why you "assumed" that he wont get a visa i was in fact angry.

Just putting a big prizemoney on the line is not enough. You actually have to care about the players too.

He was one of 3 koreans that won the first round in TSL. Fruitdealer, MVP, Nestea, Genuis all lost. Boxer is deserves his spot.

I am happy with the list now! Every region has weak players that can grow in the list and strong players that deserve to be there. The only thing I am unhappy about is select. He should have an American flag next to his name so people don't get confused.

What what what?! July, MC, Zenio, BoxeR, Ensnare, NaDa, etc etc.

They really brought over some of the best of the best in Korea for this tournament. Gives a lot of legitimacy to it and with what we've seen in the TSL/FXOpen/GSL WC the best foreigners are able to hold their own no problem.

Screw all the haters this league is looking to be SICK. Yeah there are some weak players but you can't honestly expect to get an objective list of the 50 best players in the world for this tournament. The weak will be sifted out and people who deserve to play will be able to qualify.

So hyped!

Looking at the Team SlayerS, its obvious where Boxer's focus has been recently.

He's one of those guys who just makes people around himself better, and that's clearly what he's been doing.

If he starts to focus back on his own game, I'm sure we'll see results.

He may not be top 5 in the world right now, But I'm pretty sure he is still Top 50 easy.

I'm Happy to see a strong Canadian showing, even without HuK present we got 5 Canadian players in the NASL.

Always happy to see us make a strong showing, probably the most Pros per capita of any country except Korea obviously.

Thank you for the extremely clear and concise explanation of the selection process. You were fair and reasonable and it's unfortunate certain players weren't chosen for various reasons but that's the way things go. I'm super pumped for the league!

Well overall the list of players looks okay. I think the guys that really dont seem to deserve spots over some of the guys that didnt get in would have to be:

iNcontrol
EG.Machine
Vibe
DDE
Stalife

INcontrol is at least a big part of the community but the other guys only claim to fame is being okay, or in Machine's case, being the worst player in EG

Stalife is a friggin beast (and is canadian...which tells enough by itself)

I 100% agree.
No one seems to realize how legit he is.

Yeah I'm pretty sure he's going to do decently. I'd be very surprised if he finishes in the bottom 3 (that's the group that's not guaranteed to be in the next season, right?)

Again, I agree completely. I highly doubt he'll get knocked out easily.
He plays fantastically. Super excited to watch him play.

North American Star League – The Players

We hope that this will shed some light to the community about our application and selection process. On February 1st I contacted as many teams as I could and allowed them to begin preparing. These are the people/teams that fell under the category of “direct approach.” When we opened the application process, I contacted those teams again to allow them to officially submit their players. Anyone whose team manager was not directly contacted was part of the “public application” pool.

Because we were running at a fairly tight deadline, we had to close the application period at March 16th – we were not able to consider all the “public applications” received after this time. This applies to players such as DIMAGA, Kas, and LaLuSh, for example. Now, to clarify: the “application” is not just the video. The application is complete when the contract has been signed. The process for a public application was for them to send their application video along with manager contact information to apply@nasl.tv . After receiving their info, I would then send the contracts out to be signed. LaLuSh, DIMAGA, and Kas did not follow this application process.

Mostly I've only got myself and bad communication within our team to blame for screwing up the application. I do however accept the explanation of late applications not being considered as I think it's reasonable to stick to your deadlines/rules/process.

But I've got a question regarding the explanation you provided.

You wrote that you had to close the application period at March 16th. Did you mean March 11th, when player applications from public approach were due (according to your deadlines and process thread), or did you really mean March 16th?

Checking my sent mail folder, you should have received the delayed application March 13th at around ~1pm PST.

As I understand it player videos for public approach would also have been due March 11th, together with the mailed applications?

I see alot of delayed videos having been uploaded, some even considerably later than Dimagas, implying more players were delayed in sending in their applications. Now I don't know how important the different deadlines are for your application process (maybe the video deadline wasn't as important as the other deadlines, and you cut people some slack on that). It does however seem there were a couple of exemptions to the deadlines based on the upload dates of many of the videos.

So, questions:

1. Which of the deadlines were the most important?

2. Did you consider applications all the way until March 16th? How come? Wasn't that after the deadline?

I didn't expect to get a slot in NASL either way. But as it is now -- my application wasn't even considered. And I'm eager to have you explain some of the discrepancies in that explanation you provided.

Sure I will respond:

"Application Deadlines
Team & Player Contracts (direct approach) due: MARCH 10th, 2011 11:59 p.m. PST
Player Applications (public) due: MARCH 11th, 2011 11:59 p.m. PST
Player Videos (direct approach) due: MARCH 13th, 2011 11:59 p.m. PST
Team & Player Contracts (from public application) due: MARCH 16th, 2011 11:59 p.m. PST"

Taken from this thread. (NASL Deadlines).

We absolutely closed applications on the 16th -- I.E. all contracts not signed then were not considered. The deadline for public applications was March 11th as per our thread & public announcement. Yes, some people submitted their videos late, as I stated before, the video =/= the application. The actual application is complete when the contract has been signed. We understand that players have different reasons for being a bit late on videos, I.E. language problems, not having a webcam / camera, etc... so were more lenient with the videos, as long as the contracts were signed.

I hope that clears it up -- sorry if there was any confusion in my post!

Ok, for clarification: As I understand it, you had to sign a contract to complete your application (and consequently have it considered).

But if you didn't send in your application by March 11th, you would not receive any contract to sign anyway, right?

It's a pity. Back then I was under the impression I wasn't sending in a complete (and valid) application unless I had the video link attached to it. There was no reason for me not to think so either.

Also (my excuse), I honestly thought for long that our team had been contacted and was asking for my slightly confused managers to clarify the situation. Once I found out they hadn't been contacted, I had less than 24hrs to borrow a camera and pick up some video editing/encoding skills.

Knowing what I know now, I could have easily sent in the application in time without the video link.

Anyway, gl with NASL, i hope you succeed. For ESPORTS

It's pretty obvious that having multiple application deadlines was confusing, there should have just been one deadline where everything was due, tough luck sir.

This is a great tournament list, although I can name a handful of NA players who are both more qualified and popular/fanfavorite than Cruncher.

Do you realize how difficult it is to win a 64 or 128 man open tournament? regardless?

How many pro players do you see in tournaments like this time after time that lose in 3-4 rounds. There is something to be said about consistency in top 4 or top 2 finishes and dde has the most consistent results in that regard in NA. That is NOT arguable. He also finished JUST outside the points system for the TSL qualifiers, and once again, that was the toughest series of showing consistency than anything, the players that qualified via points for TSL are in my opinion the best tournament players in the world.

He wasn't "just outside" the qualifying points, he was 40points behind, and if that is the benchmark for "just outside" then A LOT of people were "just outside" the qualifying points for TSL.

Not doubting that it is difficult winning a 64/128man tournament, but there aren't very many pro players in the RedditOpen, certainly very few when compared to a 64man tournament featuring some of the best of the best. Not trying to diminish DDE's place, he has done well, but in terms of accomplishments alone, Minigun certainly deserved to be in the NASL over some players that managed to get in.

What Xeris said about race balance seemed quite fair though, there are quite a few good NA Protoss players and it would be difficult to include everyone (and in terms of Terran players, DDE certainly deserves to be in the NASL over other Terrans that have applied), but I guess you can call me a Minigun fanboy, because I can't help but feel that he got cheated from a spot since he has achieved quite a lot more than some players who are in the NASL, not to mention a lot better as well

I didn't say Minigun didn't deserve to be in, because he also does, I'm just saying dde isn't in the same category as some of the others. dde is someone i thought should have been in 100%, there are many more questionable players but dde is not one of them, because even if you say winning all those small tournaments isn't as big of a deal as winning that jtv invitational (arguable), fact is NOBODY has matched dde yet in what he's done, which is just winning.

We see pros all the time who never enter tournaments? why? When they do, they get knocked out, why shouldn't they have to be the ones to prove themselves.
