Overall there are still enough awesome players in this to make alot of interesting matchups, and those who aren't deserving will be weeded out. Good job.
[NASL] Players (final) - Page 191
Forum Index > StarCraft 2 Tournaments |
Players such as Jinro, HuK, and Adelscott did not apply for this tour, so don't ask why they aren't on this list. DIMAGA, Kas, and LaLush turned applications in late so they will not appear either. Please take some time to learn who exactly applied. Please inform yourself about who applied and who didn't.

You guys have to realize that some players don't care about their ladder ratings, and instead are using it as ways to practice for tournaments. So players will leave games they get cheesed, or GG early when they mess up, so that they can get more games in... Anyways, I think Minigun is one of the best PvZ players in the world right now, I mean he took out IdrA earlier this month and Ret too. But w/e. Also, on the topic of iNcontrol, I don't really know how good he is. He doesn't strike me as a top top player, but we'll see.

To be honest, I didn't expected much from Xeris looking at how he run past tournaments (Root WARZONE, Tour of Duty or Global Gamers Invitational). The amount of delays and various issues made people lose interest in those tournaments even if the prizes were quite big. So many people are upset on the invites and all we got were some ambiguous explanations (talking about Nightend and Demuslim). Thorzain was a top EU player even before beating FruitDealer - constantly beating top players in various cups and having a 65% win rate on EU ladder is impressive and he doesn't at least get included in the "Why we didn’t pick them" list. And then there are people who come and say: Don't worry Nightend/Demuslim, you will qualify next time - yeah easy to say that since you don't care anyway, but you guys don't understand how much work these players put into gaming ... Demuslim even made special preparations for NASL (as he posted earlier in this thread) only to get home and see players like Vibe, dde, Stalife or Painuser being invited instead. Yes, there is a lot of "hate" in this thread but it's for good reasons.

Destiny has a WAY bigger fan following (1000 to 1 big), his application video was probably on par or better than MoMaN's (better in my opinion), and he has shown amazing promise and brutal improvement since joining ROOT. Because vibe is better then destiny. As of right now Destiny has no results in tournaments (does he even play in them?) while i'm pretty sure vibe has won some smaller tournaments, and I know he's placed well in some tournaments as well you have to have some sort of achievement not just have 1.5k viewers watch you on a stream.

There is something to be said about consistency in top 4 or top 2 finishes and dde has the most consistent results in that regard in NA. That is NOT arguable. He also finished JUST outside the points system for the TSL qualifiers, and once again, that was the toughest series of showing consistency than anything, the players that qualified via points for TSL are in my opinion the best tournament players in the world.

...and then they don't invite some of the people with biggest fan bases (destiny, minigun come to mind) and massive qualifications (fruitdealer, *prime, dimaga) because of bureaucratic crap. i'm not sure what to make of NASL yet. there are some awesome players, but the organization seems wanting. for someone who really wants e-sports to succeed in the west, it's worrying to say the least

I think the caster used it every single time in the Machinima tourney as well which until today I have no idea who won.

I haven't seen ViBE play recently because I haven't had the time to watch tournaments lately, but from everything i've heard from players in the top 50 north american ladder that face ViBE, he was NOT a fan favorite pick, that destiny would be in contention to make the NASL for, ViBE is a player who was selected because he is a serious underdog that will shock people through solid play. Destiny is NOT that type of player. I sound like a serious NrG fanboy but I'll be honest I have no associations with those guys and only see them through RESULTS which is what the NASL should have been based upon, and those two NrG picks are results-based picks, not fan favorites, not guys who get 4k viewers when streaming, but guys who win motherfucking tournaments. Someone go get neverexpo to come in here and post every top 4 that dde, mihai, and ViBE have gotten since release and you guys will shit some guinness book of world record sized bricks.

It is now on the player's head to get all of their shit done, not the leagues. In BW for a league or tournament to have legitimacy you needed the best players so you could corral them. SC2 has toooons of good players all chomping at the bit to participate. It's their job to get invited, not the league's job to convince them to come. Some people have commented on them not being very professional or unorganized, I think just the opposite. They had very strict and specific guidelines so they could meet their own deadlines which resulted in some people getting thrown under the bus. It sucks for the players, but it's so the league runs without a hitch. Excellent post. Players really need to step it up now if they want to distinguish themselves from the masses, and preferably not by stirring up drama in forum threads. I have the utmost respect for the NASL organizers for sticking to the deadlines they put forth. I will be pulling hard for iNc and Artosis! FIGHTING!!! <33

He wasn't "just outside" the qualifying points, he was 40points behind, and if that is the benchmark for "just outside" then A LOT of people were "just outside" the qualifying points for TSL. Not doubting that it is difficult winning a 64/128man tournament, but there aren't very many pro players in the RedditOpen, certainly very few when compared to a 64man tournament featuring some of the best of the best. Not trying to diminish DDE's place, he has done well, but in terms of accomplishments alone, Minigun certainly deserved to be in the NASL over some players that managed to get in. What Xeris said about race balance seemed quite fair though, there are quite a few good NA Protoss players and it would be difficult to include everyone (and in terms of Terran players, DDE certainly deserves to be in the NASL over other Terrans that have applied), but I guess you can call me a Minigun fanboy, because I can't help but feel that he got cheated from a spot since he has achieved quite a lot more than some players who are in the NASL, not to mention a lot better as well
