[NASL] Players (final) - Page 188

Players such as Jinro, HuK, and Adelscott did not apply for this tour, so don't ask why they aren't on this list. DIMAGA, Kas, and LaLush turned applications in late so they will not appear either. Please take some time to learn who exactly applied.

Please inform yourself about who applied and who didn't.

Hmm. Agree on the DeMuslim-case, why would he even apply if he didn't think he was going to be healed by then? How hard is it to contact EG-manager or DeMuslim himself(god forbid) so they can hear what the situation is? Other than that, I think it's going to be a good league, and things like this happend. Good luck.

Is there any statement on why it seems like one player from the smaller teams seems to have made it in? Ex: sixjax_dde, Nrg.vibe, col.stalife, one.cruncher (now col.cruncher though, I think)

Is it a coincidence that the 'weaker' players for the most part individually represent an otherwise unrepresented team? I'm unsure on Moman's team, but he might be similar.

I feel like there is more reasoning behind why these players are being picked than what we're being told.

Edit: Maybe i'm wrong. I didn't realize that sixjax was NRG. Nevermind me.

Am i the only guy that accept and understand the reasons and choices that were made to choose the 50 players?

Everyone that's missing is because they didn't apply or didn't do it on time and a few others that were left out is because of race balance and other minor things.. we have a legit 50 player league, several weeks of good games between 50 of the best SC2 players of the world.

I will buy the VODS because i think it's worth it, great work guys!

No, even if this thread is nearing 200 pages of mostly shit talking and baseless accusations it's still only being generated by a handful of users that take it upon themselves to create drama.

why people dont just STFU and enjoy , its gonna be way better then mlg and iem!

and btw they dont put you a gun on the head to buy the ticket so if you dont like it then dont buy the premium pack

oh another point , for those who say "that guy is more skilled then this one , he not deserve hes spot and blablabla" just look a San , he was the worse gsl player and BAM , he praticed hard and hes now one of the best toss.
I mean mabey "those less skilled or less deserved" player are gonna pratice like crazy and make some upset and who know mabey become the next San

Ps: so sad for dimaga

To those negatively critizing the nasl...

Does everyone realize how big e-sports can get in the NA if this booms?

It will be huge, it's getting huge as we speak.

It's a list of 50 people. Unfortunately that means not every top player can get it.

They need to make money off it as well. So not only do they invite top players, but people the community favorites.

If there are players that don't belong, then they will be weeded out pretty fast. They may have taken your favorite players spot, but there's always next season, and if they really deserve to be there, then they will probably be able to get through using the qualifier. I'm not sure how well I would have done if they threw me in there now. I can't say I would be confident playing someone like ogsmc in a tournament. Although I would love the chance too (favorite protoss player <3)

Nasl is a business. I want to watch it grow. Am I little disappointed I didn't get in? Ofc..but will there be other chances to get in, other turnys (especially if the NASL takes off) ? Yes.

Starcraft 2 is so close to becoming huge in the NA. Instead of negatively criticizing one of the first businesses to actually try and expand E-sports in the west. Lets give it our unconditional support. Starcraft 2 can be huge, but only if the community supports it.

Buy your ticket, sit back, with some food and coke, and enjoy the show. I know I will.

Oh btw, thanks for the support to me guys, it means a lot.

Best post I've seen in a long time. Particularly the bolded part.

So this is like not criticizing America when we decide to go to war, then? Just unconditional support to our dear leader no matter what for the sake of patriotism? Nah man, doesn't work that way for some of us. We want eSports to be huge in the Western world and if the NASL is doing something worth criticizing, it should be criticized. It's because of our love of eSports that there is so much passion - to stand idly by with blind faith and acceptance is never an option.

yes because criticizing our government when it sends people off to die is equivalent to which 50 people will be in the first season of a multi season tournament that will have not one but TWO open qualifiers for next season. We shouldn't just sit idly by but we also shouldn't blow it out of proportion, and in either case we should support all the players that are in and watch the games so that we can have more ESPORTS in the future.

@the actual list itself - Its hard for me to see one person on there who doesn't have the results, popularity, or raw skill to be in this league (and most of them have all three). I am entirely too excited for this, I'll probably fail all my classes this semester because there is just so much awesome ESPORTS action to watch!
also i think you should be able to combine like 5 archons to make a really really shitty oliver stone film - Keanu_Reaver, bw balance genius

The reason incontrol is in the league is simple. It's a STAR league. Star power has a lot of influence over he gets put in and who doesn't. That's the reason I'll be tuning into his games, because I know about the guy much more than most other gamers.

Looks like a good list i just hope when they promote this league that they just don't its the top 50 players of the world or something like that because i mean they really should have had qualifiers for a league like this instead of "Oh lets invite 50 players we want to invite"

There are a few things I strongly disagree that NASL is doing; really do. I do not agree with some of the player list, the selection process or for that matter the people selecting...but I still wish them the best of luck as most people should.

Hopefully we will see more players like ThisIsJimmy, Minigun, etc in the proposed next one. Or in possibly a more "open" league.

Don't stretch things too thin bro, Star league is just taken from OSL and MSL and other stuff from BW because Star is the short way of staying starcraft, same reason idra says star 1 and star 2 instead of Brood war and starcraft 2.

So if NightEnD failed to get in because he didn't pre-emptively prove his ability to get a visa, does that mean everyone else had to do the same. Or is it just because he's from Romania, and BratOK, a player from "one of those countries" has had some problems getting a visa in the past?

Thing is, Romania is in the European Union. There's no reason to expect that he'd have any more problems getting into the US than any other player from Europe.

I'm still quite excited about the NASL, but this and the DeMusliM thing makes me a little bit weary. Wasn't there also an issue where Jinro or Huk (one of the TL guys) said that oGs had NOT been contacted, contrary to what NASL had stated? (Not specifically oGs, but I am sure they stated Korean teams had been or would be contacted, and if oGs isn't the first team you approach I don't know what is).

You've got the potential to make something brilliant here. The cracks are starting to show, but I hope you keep it up and get it done. I'll probably get a Premium pass, or whatever you choose to call it.

Please, don't respond to random posts without actually reading the full discussion.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Visa_Waiver_Program

The Visa Waiver Program allows people from certain countries to enter the United States without a Visa. Romania is not one of those countries yet, which means NightEnd would need a Visa to enter the United States.

Being in the waiver program makes it easier but outside of that countries are not treated equally. European Union country citizens will find it a lot easier to obtain a visa than a lot of others including Korea. For example i need a visa to travel to Australia from the UK however i would be shocked if I was refused one.

You can still get refused entry if you lied on your boarding pass with a waiver the same as if you lie on your visa application.

I was responding specifically to this part:
"There's no reason to expect that he'd have any more problems getting into the US than any other player from Europe."

This is simply no true. Most European players would not even need a Visa as they can enter the United States for up to 90 days due to the Visa Waiver Program. Getting a United States Visa as a Romanian citizen can still take up to 63 days.

This.

It's unfortunate that NightEnd feels slighted, but I can understand from Xeris' and NASL point of view why they would not consider him for the first season. They have a relatively tight schedule, and there is a very low chance that his VISA situation would be resolved before the start of the tournament.

Even if it was possible for NightEnd to get a VISA before the LAN Tournament, it is reasonable for the NASL not to want to bear that risk.

Imagine how much worse it would be if NightEnd was accepted, made it to the final 16, and did NOT have his VISA ready. The NASL would have invested time and effort marketing and promoting a tournament with a player that can't even participate.

I totally agree with your point, except for one little part.

I would not have minded a single second if NASL simply said ''Due to our fear that you might not have the VISA in time well have to exclude you'', but simply disqualifying him because he didnt present the VISA (which was never stated as a condition) and not even explaining the situation with him directly (hey lets just post about it on a public forum) to me feels like a pretty big mistake.

Yea sixjax sponsors nrg. and cruncher plays solely for coL now, so you listed 4 players who are split up into 2 teams. Not really a theory behind that..

Well bro, I don't remember where I hear it from but I do recall either incontrol or xeris or somebody defining the word star in that sense for the league.

Nightend: I don't know you or Xeris personally, but let it go.

Next season, man; next season. Complaining now isn't going to get you any closer to what you want at this point.

after how much i ''cryed' now mark my words i will not be invited in 2nd season or in 3 they will find an excuse like this if not a bigger one .

Its run by Xeris and iNControl. You bet your bottom dollar you will never see an invite (but latter seasons aren't run by invites so don't worry champ )

No. It isn't ran by me. I've said this countless times. Also why the hell would we have a grudge against him? He is a fantastic player... obviously he is upset with not being selected for this league.. anybody who cares about this game would be (100% understandable).

Why do you feel the need to try and stir a pot that doesn't exist?

How'd ya get that invite then?

Your achievements don't even compare to 49th least achievement earning person on the list.

Achievement/skill isn't the only selection criteria. Having a large fan base gets you in as well.

People with larger fan bases didn't get invited. DeMusliM has a whole country supporting him, the same for NightEnd. Heck i don't think he's skilled enough to be in the tournament but if it's a popularity contest. Destiny gets 8k viewers in the late hours sometimes and consistently gets around 2k. No more than iNcontroL gets.

DeMusliM didn't get in because of his hand
NightEnD didn't get in because of visa problems
Destiny is a zerg and as such would have to replace one of the other zergs
iNcontrol has a larger fan base than Minigun (saddly)

I have no visa problems i got my passport for example in 2 hours and i would get visa in 1 week but i had no ideea i need visa :D so as of said i wont play in NASL

that is exactly what i thought.

the whole organization simply doesnt seem to be perfectly organized... the #1 rule shoudl be to inform at least each top 50 player about everything...

InControl didn't word it like he did, but InControl has said one of the main purposes of the NASL is to create Stars--personalities that people become fans of and follow perpetually.

Darkforce is actually very popular in the German scene.

He often visits TaKes house and commentates for different tournaments and cups, while also participating in them.

Pretty good balance of Koreans/Foreigners. Sad to see some people get in on popularity alone, but things could have been so much worse. All in all this is a pretty sick group of players.

Whats more is I think latency for people playing from Korea/Sea will not be nearly as large as in issue in this tournament with so many games being played. I highly doubt you will see players playing on the NA server for the first time. In fact I think we will see an overall higher level of preparation in general, which means we will see Koreans practicing on the NA server, which is a pretty damn good step toward uniting the communities. The timing couldn't have been better either with top players from each scene facing off in TSL3 and the GSL World Championship.

Also, I think the guys behind the scene handled the PR for this much better. They barely said anything this time. People were getting outraged in the thread and they just stayed silent and let the end results speak for themselves. Much better way to do things IMO.
