Players such as Jinro, HuK, and Adelscott did not apply for this tour, so don't ask why they aren't on this list. DIMAGA, Kas, and LaLush turned applications in late so they will not appear either. Please take some time to learn who exactly applied. Please inform yourself about who applied and who didn't. |

Have some reasoning/explanation about why the players were chosen. This needs to be transparent especially when the list of players are done by invites. Posting it up like that without any reasoning is not very professional imo. The bracket show did not announce the players and the reason TSL even had Korean invites was because they were not able to do Korean qualifiers. Their selection from that point was pretty obvious as they invited all of the TeamLiquid players, GSL winners and former SC legends.

I'm done. Probably gonna be banned anyway. Glad some of you got my point, though.
sure players that train in korean progaming house conditions are considered to be stronger than their american and european counterparts. but that doesnt mean everybody wants to see 1:1 a second GSL just because of a silly strapline.

I was a bit surprised by it myself since I follow the EU scene pretty closely and hadn't heard much of him until lately. But it seems he is carving a spot for himself and I do think that he is easily better than players like Catz, Cruncher, Darkforce and Fenix.

NASL = NOT ABOUT SUCKING LESS. C'mon man, don't be a turd. 400k prize money, and those 15 players would make for a stacked tournament all of their own. No, of those 15 the players that are MUST watch IMO are Moon, Idra, and maybe Kiwi. Justin.TV invitational on SC2CASTS.com has about an equal lineup, so far. July, Boxer, Nada, MC, (even Ace) all have better credentials that those chosen so far. (so do Top, Ensnare, Squirtle, Rainbow)... Oh so you want the GSL? No, he wants a tournament of highly skilled players. You know, the best players in the world? Right.. He named all Koreans that can be found nightly watching a GSL. This isn't the GSL. That's my point, and it was never advertised to be the GSL. "BEST PLAYERS IN THE WORLD" I think we all remember that. None of us are asking for a Korean dominated tournament, but almost completely excluding them turns the NASL into the North American Average Player Starleague. If players like Darkforce, Catz, Cruncher and KawaiiRice get in, I also expect Nestea, July, MC, MVP, Boxer and Nada. This "Best Players in the World" talk is like crying because someone lied to you. Yeah they HYPED their new league, yeah they said the best players in the world would be there. So what? All leagues in the world say that! There are great players there, some of them probably ARE amongst the best in the world. Just accept it won't be all filled with Koreans and a few foreigners (cause any other combination would still be accused of not being the best in the world) and recognize the quality of players that are being invited. I don't want it to be filled with Koreans, but only ONE was announced among 15, some of whom are arguably not among the top players, even in their respective region. Like others, it is a little bit worrying that players like Darkforce (not even a top5 EU zerg in my book) can be invited where as some very good Koreans are cut.
Well I have read many posts saying Darforce is top5, top3 zerg in Europe, so it is clear that each person has a different book. The NASL has reasons for choosing as it does, reasons that they need not even explain (if they do, good for them).

Jesus Christ, if this is people's huge complaint, that's incredibly frustrating. You would probably boycott the World Series because it's really only American. Same for the World Series of Poker. Guys, the Olympics aren't held in Olympia! And the gods themselves don't descend to crown the victors! Let's not watch them either! And the team that wins the Super Bowl gets a trophy that's shaped like a football! If it's not really a bowl, then the name is lying to us!
Honestly, you make me sick.

I may have to avoid this thread from here on out, because it's looking like it's going to be nothing but the epic struggle of "Why Cruncher? We want Artosis instead" vs "What happened to results and Koreans" idiocy.. I really want to side with the NASL on this one, but I'll refrain until they can adequately hype something without looking like they're completely half-assing it. (Posting 15 names on your *and I hesitate to actually call it a* website, and then trying to hide it in html is how you release the first day of news that thousands of people have been anxiously waiting on for a month?? How does that mess-up even happen? Giving us a bracket selection show like the NCAA tournament would've been going above-and-beyond (like the TSL did with DJ Wheat, which was awesome). Starting a thread on TL just so there would be an easy point of reference and way to keep up with it would've been expected, and perfectly fine. Messing up on your own website? Get your shit together guys: you've got the resources to make this something really special.
+ Show Spoiler +Can't wait til Avilo is accepted tomorrow by mistake..ugh

Don't really agree with some of the invites, given that there's already going to be some highly accomplished players overlooked for people with little or no tournament results in.
Would also love to see a reason for each player being invited once the list is finalized.
But that's all rectified by the fact that Moon is invited! Good choice!

|
Only one of first fifteen invites is korean. Looks like they did put a cap of 5 invites on the korean. I was hoping they invite 10.
|
I think the NASL is running into the same problem that blizzard has been having for a while - that if you invite community participation a disturbing number of people will decide that they are now entitled to get exactly what they want, and if they don't they whine and bitch and moan.

If you think sc2 is about entertainment, you are saying its like WWE but I respect the game too much, I would liken it to tennis or wrestling: furious, competitive sport. And as a spectator I want to see the best of the best. edit - I do like the NASL invites for the most part actually.
and please define best of the best... There's a reason it's opinionated. Where is MVP the best Terran/player in the world now? Or Fruitdealer and tester? You could not give me a top 25 right now that didn't have someone say "I disagree"
my point is that we probably haven't seen the better invitees yet and we haven't seen the questionable player play against them.

Well I was telling my friends how the NASL was going to put the Western SC2 scene on par with the Korean one but now I just look dumb. Oh well I guess I bought into the hype and I will hope for the best.

Also I think it had been very clear from the beginning that NASL take more into account than just player skill so I don't understand how this comes as a chock to some people. Did they honestly think we would have like 40 Koreans or something?

so much flaming and hate in this thread. not even HALF of the players have been announced yet. are there some questionable invites? maybe, but maybe isnt yes and they will just have to prove themselves in the league. it's the first season, and if a player doesnt deserve to be in the league then they will be rooted out. more koreans will be invited i am sure. chill guys

Yea that's exactly what i want. It's the same reason i was more hyped for the original TSL's back in BW than any MSL or OSL.

They want the best NA/EU players plus *some* of the best Koreans. Nothing wrong with that. AFAIK the purpose of the league is not to give more money to Korean GSL players who play it on their off-time from the GSL. It's to grow the NA/EU scene. You can't do this by shutting out most of the NA/EU players.
