Players such as Jinro, HuK, and Adelscott did not apply for this tour, so don't ask why they aren't on this list. DIMAGA, Kas, and LaLush turned applications in late so they will not appear either. Please take some time to learn who exactly applied. Please inform yourself about who applied and who didn't. |

As for the results results results, there are probably not even 50 players in the foriegner scene who have won a minor tournament (1k dollars+) so thats just stupid.
edit: all of these players have done at least well in minor-major tournaments (top 4, finals, etc, if not winning outright)
People dont complain about not getting what they want. THEY COMPLAIN ABOUT NOT GETTING WHAT THEY ARE PROMISED.
Dont tell me "best players in the world" and invite people who cant get through Code A.
DONT.

Seems this won't have too many Koreans, so it will be a foreigner event with some Koreans here and there. Cool to see that 3 out of 4 of the Germans I wanted in this league are already in. Now the NASL only needs Goody the King and my German dream team is complete I'm a little bit skeptical about some of the NA invites (namely Cruncher and CatZ) who I don't think are on the level of European pros at all. I'm aware that it's the North American Star League, but tbh I hope NA and EU can work together here and you choose the best foreigners and not too many NA players just because they are from NA. And @ people who say Cloud is bad. Lol, you don't have any idea about Cloud then obviously. And Darkforce is easily top5 EU Zerg and there are not so many good Zergs to choose from on EU/NA so it's kind of a given to invite him. And I will say this again: Goody the King must be invited to this! NASL can't be big without the Panzergeneral :D I'm sure this has been stated before, but Cruncher has done quite well especially against europeans.. beat Sjow in bo7 show match beat Kas and Strelok in the recent Justin.tv invitational
Ok, if that's the case I just made a fool of myself lol

This guy has not been playing very long and is already top 50 in the world O.o I don't think so.
Sad to see someone got cut for the abusive 1-2 base protoss Cruncher =/

If you honestly expected the "North American Star-League" to be filled with Koreans, you are an idiot.
Besides, guess what? This is only 15 invites! There weren't even close to 35 Korean APPLICATIONS. THEY CAN'T INVITE PEOPLE THAT DIDN'T APPLY.

NASL = NOT ABOUT SUCKING LESS. C'mon man, don't be a turd. 400k prize money, and those 15 players would make for a stacked tournament all of their own. No, of those 15 the players that are MUST watch IMO are Moon, Idra, and maybe Kiwi. Justin.TV invitational on SC2CASTS.com has about an equal lineup, so far. July, Boxer, Nada, MC, (even Ace) all have better credentials that those chosen so far. (so do Top, Ensnare, Squirtle, Rainbow)... Oh so you want the GSL? No, he wants a tournament of highly skilled players. You know, the best players in the world? Right.. He named all Koreans that can be found nightly watching a GSL. This isn't the GSL. That's my point, and it was never advertised to be the GSL. "BEST PLAYERS IN THE WORLD" I think we all remember that. None of us are asking for a Korean dominated tournament, but almost completely excluding them turns the NASL into the North American Average Player Starleague. If players like Darkforce, Catz, Cruncher and KawaiiRice get in, I also expect Nestea, July, MC, MVP, Boxer and Nada.
This "Best Players in the World" talk is like crying because someone lied to you. Yeah they HYPED their new league, yeah they said the best players in the world would be there. So what? All leagues in the world say that! There are great players there, some of them probably ARE amongst the best in the world. Just accept it won't be all filled with Koreans and a few foreigners (cause any other combination would still be accused of not being the best in the world) and recognize the quality of players that are being invited.

I think TSL did a better job of announcing the players. I watched the almost 2 hour TSL bracket show and was impressed. Have some reasoning/explanation about why the players were chosen. This needs to be transparent especially when the list of players are done by invites. Posting it up like that without any reasoning is not very professional imo.
|
Has Cloud won anything? I didn't even know he made the move to SC2.
|
Going to refrain from saying anything about the skill of the players picked until all 50 are announced.
Also I agree with the post above me wanting some kind of explanation as to why every person was picked. Don't need some long explanation just something so we know you didn't draw names from a hat.

Cloud won the XMG lately, beating mana and Hasuobs 2:0 and 3:0, hes very high ranked in the ladder so i think hes a much better player than most of the people complaining here realize.

I wonder if they will post an explanation as to why they invited each player.
Would anyone else like this? Or is this asking too much?

Would anyone else like this? Or is this asking too much? It's completely unnecessary. A tournament organizer has absolutely no reason to justify the players they invite.

Cloud has won 5 tournaments, placed second in the ESL Pro Series behind Socke, with three more second place finishes and another two bronze medals. His most recent tournament win was the ESL Go4SC2 Cup on 13th of February.

there were no players announced in the bracket show, the bracket was announced in the bracket show.

I really agree with this statement. Reminiscing back to GSL 1, there were some pretty awesome players but there were also many bad (GSL-wise) players. It isn't until the most recent GSL and I truly felt comprised the best of the best in Korea (and judging by the recent SlayerS > oGs in the GSTL maybe the GSL code A/S doesn't contain the best players overall).
The one thing I am really looking forward to from the NASL is watching some of my fan favorites. Sure I like watching Koreans like MC hammer opponents but there is nothing like rooting for my favorite NA players. It is something to watch high level play but it is also something to watch similarly high level play and then go post on their facebook page "qxc you are such a badass! USA represent!!"
I think the NASL will help breed much stronger competition in other regions of the world besides Korea even if it does start off a little rough. This could lead to many strong players from different nations which could raise interest considerably. I know I didn't give a lick about pro SC2 until I started watching ROOT. For me it was that connection of nationality and gaming that sealed the deal. I really think the NASL will foster those connections and some of the nay-sayers will be biting their tongues in 6 months or a year.

I don't want it to be filled with Koreans, but only ONE was announced among 15, some of whom are arguably not among the top players, even in their respective region. Like others, it is a little bit worrying that players like Darkforce (not even a top5 EU zerg in my book) can be invited where as some very good Koreans are cut.
