3v3 Starcraft Tournament

Hi Guys,

I just got back from the GSL finals in Daejeon South Korea. It was wild!! I love watching the games live. Well I do love the 1v1s I think that Starcraft tournaments should include team games. People argue that there is to much cheese with 3v3s or 4v4s but if you play well as a team using different strategies and countering the other team the games are in my opinion more interesting than a 1v1.

So I wanted to post on here and see if other people were interested in it. I have made a facebook group called 3v3 Starcraft Tournament. For those of you interested in having a 3v3 tournament join to group and lets arrange some games.

Players don't want to waste practise time learning completely new strategies and timings. Also, Starcraft section?

Two things:

1.) This should probably be in the SC2 forum (assuming it's a 3v3 SC2 tournament and not a BW one).

2.) In my opinion, 3v3 and 4v4 is not as interesting as 1v1. The problem is not "too much cheese." The problem is that the only legitimate strategy is to mass low tech units at the beginning. Watch high level BGH in Brood War. Yes, they're two different games, but the same concepts apply, as they would to RTS in general.

Consider two teams that are both PPZ. If one team has both Protosses rush 2 or 3 or 4 gate zealots, and the Zerg rushes for zerglings, while the other team doesn't (let's say one of the players tries to expand or tech), then the team that rushed for units has an incredible advantage in map control, which is arguably the most important thing in team games. With this advantage in map control, all three of them can target one player, and cut off the reinforcements from the other two players, so of course that one guy will die, as he is fighting a 1v3. Then it's 3v2, and from there, even if the opponent has an eco or tech advantage, it's still a lost game for the team with only 2 players.

It's the reason ZZ was such a powerful team in BW 2v2, and why Terran was arguably the worst race for 2v2. ZZ gives you the most map control, while Terran has difficulty helping to establish map control early.

Well high level 3v3 and 4v4 on BW was and still is extremely entertaining to watch atleast if you have some understanding of teamgames. I still have not gained that when it comes to sc2 but I assume it has potential. Dont yet know if it is good or bad that there are alot of maps and all current ones have ramps.

As for you opening post, I dont really know what game you are talking about. Or what place teamgames should be filed under? Should they be played in GSL Team league? Should teams have to add teamplayers to their roosters? Was sad when they stopped 2v2s in BW as that was the only thing I watched.

EDIT: I'm apparently too tired to make much sense.
