I have a request for the VODS. Can you upload a game 3 regardless so that we dont get any spoilers seeing theres only 2 games? Thanks. Just put a random picture there and a randomly chosen time span and we're all good Would be greatly appreciated!

Am I the only person who feels SC2 needs larger maps? Not in the sense of more expansions and stuff, but actual distances between bases. Also, perhaps expansions positioned outwards / to the sides from starting positions rather than pulling towards the middle. It seems that players are too afraid to be aggressive in mid-late game because losing a few units practically means you'll lose the inevitable 'big battle' that's to follow because the distance between the two armies is perhaps 5 seconds of travel time, which kind of sucks.

Also, lol forcefields.

Just watch them via the VOD thread.

http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=203014#Ro32

You can't get spoiled that way, just don't click the "Set 3" button before you've watched the second set xD.

Very impressive play by Tyler and Sen, Tyler always brings out interesting builds that work well for him.

Cant say i'm shocked about fruitdealer games, bit sad to see tho.

Cant wait for the rest of the games, gonna be a lot of great games for sure, and if not we have day9 and chill!!

First, QQ 2/4 on bracket prediction. Didn't think Fruitdealer would fall in the first round and even more shocked Boxer didn't.

Having said that the Boxer vs. Nightend games were pretty darn awful. All three games turned into maxed army slugfests with very little to distinguish the players' actual skill. That said game 2 I really feel like Boxer could've *easily* won the game with the marauders in the beginning if he just targeted the stalkers. I was in so much shock when kept letting his marauders get picked away.

The best match was Fenix vs. Sen, really liked both players style, only wish that Fenix had of controlled his tanks better because those battles tended to be more one-sided than they would've been otherwise IMO.

Looking forward to day 2, but not as epic a start to the TSL3 as I had wished.

It was to be expected to be fair

I'm kind of disappointed the first 3 korean/chinese invites in this tournament are also the worst ones. But at least MC and Jinro will be tonight and we'll see some incredible Korean play!

How is sen bad? I don't know how to response to this biased senseless opinion.

Probably more people are on your side than mine, that is I think a lot of people want larger maps.

Where I like the smaller maps/medium maps.

The thing with larger maps is that "every" game just goes to max supply with all upgrades and 4-5 bases.

I like the occasional excitment of "here comes the scvs" or "cannon rush incoming" or a push happening with the other player not having the time to get some of the later tier upgrades/tech.

Else i find myself just not paying too much attention to the game going "oh well, in X minutes or so the game will begin when both have all the bases they need and the tech they want, until then I can read some threads on TL".

That's why I think at least some expansions should be positioned 'outwards' rather than 'inwards', if that make sense. Keep starting positions similar to the way they are right now - but add more room around the edges, so that losing one max army battle doesn't necessarily mean an instant loss. A game that goes to max supply with no action then ends in one battle IS boring, I'm sure everyone agrees - but a game that goes to max supply, has a dozen big clashes, a few base trades, and ends with 8 mineral locations being mined out can be much more exciting - but is very unlikely to happen on current maps.

A few translated Korean netizen reactions from PlayXP

+ Show Spoiler +
"BoxeR's GF reports 2 second lag delay- BoxeR's missed EMPS weren't his fault"

"Really nervous about the lag delays"

"BoxeR's opponent is not even a Code-A calibre player"

"As an eSports leading country I somewhat feel ashamed that FD was taken out 2:0"

"WELL... we still have NesTea"

"Wow I just watched the games... connection is so horrible. BoxeR DCing -_- well, it is a "minor league" + Show Spoiler +
this comment frustrated me, seemed to be serious and not sarcastic with his "minor league" comment.

"I was wondering why boxer didn't control his marauders in game 2... I guess that was because cause of the lag..."

"BoxeR... you really need to step it up"

A little back and forth of 2 Knetizens:
+ Show Spoiler +
"If there was a delay of 2 sec, its impossible to play the game. if i were to feel 2 sec delay while playing, its absurd. that means the game reacts after a sec or two following the mouse/keyboard input. I did watch fd's games and i saw some effects of lags in his games too (maybe they were just mistakes). If it was a bit of like sc1 w/e but 2 sec is ridiculous"

"There's a good chance that people are lying about 2 sec delay, and every player has to deal with that lag. So i don't think it is appropriate to talk about who gets benefits/disadvantages from the lag. I personally believe if you are a pro you should be ready and able to deal with such problems."

"If you are a pro, you want to perform at a perfect condition. Even Tiger Woods, i think he was quoted saying he does not play unless he is in perfect shape. it's not a pros responsibility to perform at a top level in any situation. A true pro is whom is able to perform at his/her full potential given ideal conditions. i don't think many of you guys have played on foreign servers, but there is instantaneous lag rather than lag that is continuous throughout the whole game."

EDIT; seems to be many Koreans are focusing on the lag problems, specifically in BoxeR's set. I don't know if they are aware of the TL ruling on G1 or why it was made; I'll keep digging.

Here is the coped GOMTV Knetizen forum responses, as translated by Brobear here

Let me translate the GOMTV netizen comments for you guys. (Since the google translate button doesn't seem to work too well)
Most of the comments are negative in regards to the overall skill level of players in the foreign scene. Korean netizens are brutal...

-"ThorZaIN, who knocked out Fruitdealer, plays very well..."

-"Was that really Fruitdealer? Why is he so bad???"

-"Can't do much about it... They're playing in 2-second delay after EMP conditions..."

-"Fruitdealer's condition is terrible... I wanted Korean dominance..."

-"The Nightend and Boxer game is SO boring. Seems like a game played in Korea 6 months ago. I'm yawning while watching this after having seen MC's dynamic playing. Battles after maxing armies... This was the reason they reviewed sc2 to be boring before."

-"NightEnd protoss can't even go into the preliminaries in our country, right? Lol this is hilarious."

-"It's been a while since I've seen a protoss using colossi... It's still far away for the foreign scene to catch up to our level of play."

-"Boxer's skill level... So bad."

-"I feel for boxer's current state in the game... Don't know about the Terran's side of play, but there were a lot of points when boxer could've poked and done some damage, yet he couldn't. T_T boxer fighting."

-"Can't make strong definitive attacks... Can't even hit code A round 16 wit this type of playing level..."

-"Not just being a boxer anti-fan, but if you seriously consider boxer's skill level, doesn't seem like he can even hit code A round of 8's."

-"Are these really matches played by progamers? Did I watch it wrong?"

-"The EMP missed by boxer, the early marauder control in game 2, etc., are apparently all due to the quake in Japan and the lag caused due to it.

And a few comments regarding the bad commentator (I guess for the Korean commentator who dubbed it, since Chill and Day9 are freakin awesome).

I'll update it more tomorrow, if you guys would like!

I'd say the biggest argument against koreans winning this TSL isn't that foreigners are even or more skilled, but that the lag will simply be too high to overcome.

It's so damn depressing the that successor to SC1 has worse latency and network support.. sigh

I'm talking about the Chinese/Korean invites, as you can see at http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=192589 Sen isn't a part of that.

I was referring to Boxer/Loner/Fruitdealer.

Can definitely tell that the micro isn't at the same level as in the GSL games, and I don't think it's because of player skill, but because of lag. I realize there probably aren't any other realistic options, but to have KR and EU players play on the NA server is like purposely making them hold their hand in a bucket of cold water for 10 seconds before playing. As a viewer, it's frustrating that I can't watch the player perform as well as they can because of logistical issues. It really takes away from the validity of the tournament and the excitement as a viewer.

The music at the start of each VOD kicks ass, though .

You can get upgrades faster I suppose. (Don't know if he DID that.) Also more hp so safer from drops to snipe. Could also have been a mistake.
