Oh man, watching those videos from Startale got me even more excited for the NASL. I mean actually having Koreans put interest in a North American league is huge. Its only going to drive the west to become better so they can compete with them.

Seriously, you're telling me that July could be coming over to the United States to play in a sc2 tournament? Thats fucking awesome! Just by playing against Koreans in the league will make foreigners better.

Yes Yes Yes.
Some half-hearted competitors who somehow manage to get accepted will surely get baptized.
Even if it is one-sided, I want to see Korean vs Foreigner than other two combinations.

Agree so much with this, i love July and other top Koreans, but any foreigner able to knock one out of NASL (or TSL soon) will instantly become a hero to me.

Having some Koreans in NASL is just awesome for me, if they where totally barred from the competition i would not be able to take it as seriously. But limiting thier numbers i can agree with.

For any of you who played Age of Empires, you know the powerhouse that is Iamgrunt (Korean). He won multiple WCG's and had something like 95% win percent on the ladders. (In both AoK and AoE III) When H20 (American) beat him in the WCG it was electric. You know how he did it? He practiced his ass off. This is how it should be. I want to see the best Foreigners and the best Koreans in the NASL to compete and to foster an environment that improves the play of Foreigners.

As another poster said many of the 'top' foreigners are out for a popularity contest, instead of wanting to be the best and play the best. Of course this is a generalization and not 100% true. The foreign scene would benefit immensely if we had more people who had the determination of an Artosis.

I guess we will see the men from the boys in a few months.

NASL can probally gather around 30-40 top of the line non-korean pro players, the question is what you want to do with the last 10-20 spots. You can invite these cute players that doesnt stand a chance anyway but may have a stream on team liquid, be on a somewhat known team, be a talent or for some other reason have a name that people will recognize. Or you can invite Koreans.

If NASL wants to keep their integrity and be taken somewhat serious as a professional league with its best interests in e-sports there is no doubt in my mind that they should go with the Koreans.

Surely the b-players will cry their hearts out "they do it to take OUR money, and it's not fair that they enter a tournament on even terms(uneven, they have higher ping playing on NA servers even) cause they are so much better then us, we should not let them in".

Cheers for the Koreans and their awesome application videos!

I agree with this 100%, their "mission statement" even says "We needed the best players. Most importantly, we needed the passion and excitement that comes from competition at the highest level; from watching two masters battle it out knowing that only one will win.",

Inviting some popular player due streams or other reasons without any results at all over codeA/S player who want to play would be a disgrace imo

Having Koreans in the league will push the NA and EU pros to become better, I'm sure of it. Excluding Koreans from competing in competition outside Korea will only serve to make the skill differences even larger.

Besides, how would you rational accepting someone like Haypro and exclude all other people playing in Korea?

EDIT: This should be all of them since I went through all the pages of this thread and searched NASL on youtube to find as much as I could

The list on page 51 of this thread has been updated. The darkforce video has been replaced by the newest version on youtube. DREAM was listed wrong alphabetically and has been changed. ST videos put up. Sky's and NrGostojiy videos have been put up. Hope the OP or mod can use that to update the first post.

EDIT: Btw...can't hear sky clearly. What team is he on??

On a 2nd thought NASL could also have something like a Code S and Code A for later seasons. Code A to let the lesser known players and weaker but popular pros to play/improve and Code S reserved for higher skilled players currently (Koreans and top top foreigners). Viewers can tune in Code A if they want to see their favorite players/streamers/top NA 200 and Code S to see higher games in NASL

Goo Startale!

I actually really want these players to compete in NASL. This should force these college student to step up their game and motivation. It's not like you can't live off SC2 the way it was in BW.
I hope the NASL management handles these korean applications well.

Very cool to see ST players apply.

And yeah, I can't really understand Pokebunny's argument here. It seems to stem from a fear that the Korean players will dominate everything. And preventing players to participate because they're too good... well that just doesn't hold up. :lol It might be his personal preference to not watch Koreans/Europeans play but North Americans only, and that's ok (although it's quite clearly a minority opinion) - but not what the NASL is supposed to be about: an international online competition at the highest level, with a final offline tournament situated in NA.

That said, while having only the best compete is the ideal, it is not a possible reality. There has to be a healthy balance maintained after all. NASL will want to appeal to their fanbase, to their locale, and while it undoubtedly has to be an international tournament to allow the best to compete, there is (in my opinion) nothing wrong with balancing the continents out in advance, like TSL did with the Korean invites.

And just how they will do that is obviously up to the NASL people. Whether they make it 33/33/33 between NA/EU/KR or 50/25/25 or whether it'll be some other makeup, they'll probably have to find some sort of balance to prevent one server from being disproportionally represented in the 50 player league pool.

Obviously, all this only applies to the very first tournament, where they can pick and choose whoever they like. Future tournament pools will be based on results only anyway.

edit: updated the first paragraph because pokebunny clarified his initial comments a couple pages later

You need some koreans. I mean saturating NASL with 30-40 koreans is bad but 10-15. Makes it more interesting. I mean I rather watch some top level real games instead of some unknown 4.2k ladder toss. I mean comon ST_JULY. Who is gonna say no to him.

I agree that there definitely should be koreans but 10-15 are way too much. IMO 10-15 from any country is too much, even USA. There is a reason a lot of international sports cap on nationality.

But it's the NAsl after all so it's up to them.

Well initially there will be a lot of Koreans, but that might change in the future and become more balanced.

Just look at the NBA, it used to be full of white guys.

No!

Much better this way. It'll just help these young guys if they're forced to improve their English.

seeing someone like Ace or July or Squirtle, very powerful players, going up agaisnt Tyler or iNcontroL would be absolutely awesome. I think that it would be ridiculous to have 'Guy X who plays 4 hours a day and goes to college' in NASL rather then mofuckin JULYZERG! the badass God Of War Bonjwa!

my honest opinion is 20 EU, 20 US/NA, 10 KR or 5 KR/5 SEA players. that would be awesome

I don't think the NASL will attract code S players in its first season, I could be wrong though!

It did attract one Code S caster! (DiggitySC is the man).

edit: Hope I'm wrong!
