This thread is for discussing the games, not crying about balance. Thanks. |

Did any zerg managed to move up in code A and S? Besides July winnning against MVP the "god know how" way.
Also ZvZ doesn't count :p
And the only way July won was by doing gimmicky baneling busts. You can't be serious... July completed outplayed MVP in game 1 and got kind of lucky in game 2, but it would have been anyones game if he didnt lift the rax. I'm not saying MVP played his best, but give credit where credit is due. Theres nothing gimicky about a baneling bust, its a viable strategy and July's baneling bust timing is different from any we've seen to date as he explains in his interview.

Are there any games on here I shouldn't miss?
I had to turn off GSL a few nights ago because Kelly made the comment that scrap station is short rush distance. I really can't stand listening to her cast I feel like it makes me a worse player.

Poor Zerg. Tweaked fungal nerf/buff will fix their chances though right??

Game 1 of Maka vs Nobelesse, it was a short game with some cool strategy. Game 1 of ret vs SlayersM was a long macro game also pretty good. Didn't watch the last set.

Ughh game 1 was so frustrating to watch. RET HWAITING

huh. It was gimmicky. I don't think you can deny that. Not to take credit away from him. It was smart and effective. Gimmicky doesn't have to be negative.

I think Ret should leave Korea. Not at all because he can't cut it there, I think he's a total boss and could have great success there. However, there will be many opportunities outside of Korea and I really think he's on a much higher level than all but a few non-koreans. He could make a pretty good income just from prize money outside of Korea because there are many more tournaments to play outside of Korea.
|
I appreciate what GOM is doing to incorporate the foreigners into the Korean community; but it is very frustrating watching Ret, Moonglade and Haypro get a free pass to Code A and doing nothing with it when amazing Korean Zergs like DRG don't get a chance just because of how much of a crapshoot the qualifiers are. If anyone has seen Xeph's stream when he has DRG on it, he is constantly going up against Code S players and man handling them. I have probably watched 3 to 4 hours of his stream with DRG on it and I can only think of a few games he actually lost.

In game 1, July lost a ton of drones to MVP's hellions, he was all-in. MVP did not have his base walled off for some reason, so he could not stop the resulting all in. Did July out play him? Yes. But not convincingly.
In game 2, July sent the banelings up the ramp literally 5 seconds after MVP opened his wall to build add-ons. His attack would not have worked otherwise, as there was a bunker that he would not have had enough banelings to kill. Did July outplay mvp? Again, yes. But it was also incredibly lucky.
I am not sure July will get such easy wins when he runs into MC or MKP or Jinro.

After these Code A games I am against letting foreigners get a free pass into Code A.

didn't take long for Terrans to adjust to the bigger GSL maps by using a lot of drop harass
hope Zergs start adjusting by at least setting up a Nydus network between their bases because otherwise, it's going to take a whole lot of creep spread to connect some bases together
anyways, Jjob looks like he belongs in Code S

As a consolation prize for all the Ret fans:

in a theoretical sense phoenix should always counter muta. phoenix have a range of 4 while mutas have a range of 3. phoenix are also faster than mutas.
no player has perfect micro or multitask though, so a few phoenix aren't going to counter mass mutalisk unless the Protoss player devotes all his APM to just microing the phoenix

oGs JookTo really inspired me on Terminus RE...that muta strategy was seriously intense, I might sober up and try to beat any opponent seriously on that map ^.^

completely agree. GSL has a pretty poor payoff and since Ret won't be code S for some time to come it just doesn't payoff quickly at all. In the non-korean tournaments you can win regardless of some kind of class or not.
The only player for who it's really worth it to stay in korea is jinro imo as he is already in class S
|
wow didn't expect ret to go out first round. Yay for sangho though. He really needs to get code s asap
|
sad day. i hope huk is able to get to the up and down matches for code s. and i really hope, that ret will stay in korea and try at least one more time to play the gsl.
|
Man :/ Those korean terrans are really really solid. I hope Haypro and Ret won't loose their motivation.
|
Unfortunately for some coincidental reason so many foreigners (moonglade, ret, haypro, idra) pick Zerg, which is the least stable race (whatever balance imba crying, this everyone in their right mind should agree with). Hopefully a foreigner can actually get a toe in the door in the future code A/S matches as Zerg.
