Idra keeps acting like he has no sense of metagame. Why does he keep going fast hatch at foreigner tournaments? When Koreans go to WCG, you don't see them going 14CC and 12Nexus and what not because they know people are gonna cheese them. They know they have better macro so they can go with a slow expo and still have a better economy.

I know Stork once knocked Idra out of WCG with proxy gates (lulzy game where Stork tops out at 90-120 APM against like 300 for Idra). I dunno man... I do think it's sad about the map pools, though. I wish MLG would just randomly set them or something, because everyone just busts out the shittiest map for their opponent. I don't blame them at all but it bugs me that you can just be like "lol Scrap Station" if you are Zerg, or "lol Kulas" if you are terran, or "lol delta quadrant" against zerg, and so on. It's bad for the fans because we tend to only see good games in the first game and then unfortunate stuff after that.+

Everything else would have been absolutely stupid. If there is something to blame it is either Idra going for hatch first on delta or the size of the map.
Select did everything 100% right here!! Just as Naz did before. Why should people let Idra go into macro mode if they dont have to??? Do you think they are there to provide you with 30 minute games? NO. They want to win this whole thing!

I dunno why people complain, I personally find cheese sometimes really interesting to watch, it makes some intense games.

Select played better over the whole Bo3 imo(he could've won g2 without that one faildrop), but fanboys will always find something to complain.

I can understand some people thinking he should've tried to play it out, but Idra was so far behind it was pretty much unwinnable in any scenario. he never would've broken those bunkers with lings, the queen was dead, the expo hatch was screwed, not to mention select had orbital and could've salvaged those bunkers for 300 if he wanted.

yes, he had a bunch of lings but only tiny surface area to attack on the bunkers, which could've been repaired anyway. if he had made the queen in the main and creeped the spine crawler forward it might have been a different story, but he didn't.


Those lings could have killed the back door rocks though, and Select had no gas for stim in sight. Trying to push up into Idra's base without stim would've been suicide so I don't really see how Select could have closed that game or why Idra gg'd.

if he tries to expo and get to muta the game takes one of two paths: select goes heavy units and rolls him before he can tech up or select expands before him and explodes with mules. I think idra was acutely aware of this and didn't want to play a long match he knew was a losing effort.

Sigh, and I thought the metagame was shifting toward longer games with the bunker/depot/reaper change, but I guess it's actually flipped on it's head and early all ins are being favored even more than before the patch.

Will people stop whining about Select's strat? It is legit on that map against a greedy zerg. If BoxeR had pulled that off, you guys would be all jumping on his wishbone.

So tired of everything being "cheese". A guy makes a void ray 15 mins into a game "OMG OGM CHEESE". Blink stalkers were counterable. He proved that in g2 of that series. He was silly and went roaches, and couldnt repel the stalkers with the ledge abuse (which by the way was very smart).

Kyrix actually got a 3rd base as he attacked with banelings in some of his games.

I want you to look back at the early GSL2 games and count the games that went over 10 minutes. There were some fast games and a good amount of cheese and all ins. This is the state of the game, not just the North American servers, also many of these players are playing in Korea and succeeding.

it would be boring if no one ever cheesed and everyone went for the long game all the time. the variety cheese brings to the game is needed for many reasons.

and that aside, some people really call everything cheese (not saying bunker rushing isn't)
