It might be affecting the games, they don't have enough time to practice defending a macro build order against tons of builds so they play really safe mass units.

First semi is already tonight, and the quarters were 1 day after 4 of the players' Ro16s. I know they don't have much of a choice with their monthly schedule but I think that in itself is the whole problem. It should be 5 or 6 weeks instead. I don't think it's possible to shorten the earlier rounds because the casters would be exhausted and lose their voice leading to poor casting quality. After the round of 16, it should be at the very least 1 day inbetween games. Maybe split the quarter finals in two days to give the players 1 day. That would be : RO16 Group 1 (Monday) RO16 Group 2 QF Group 1 QF Group 2 (Thursday) Day off + weekend SF Group 1 (Monday of the next week) SF Group 2 Day off Finals Of course, counting the weekend, that leads to a weird schedule but it's better than having people play on two consecutive days in my opinion.

I don't think Tester really had a choice but to actually do a suicide run down the ramp if he thought (and pretty logically) that ITR would be expoing behind the contain. So the best Protoss micro player in the world has no choice but to take a certain loss over the chance of defending a push? ![]() Don't forget, he had an observer free. I'm not buying it. There was no reasoning behind that play that I understand.

Alot of people also watched to see the next evolution of SC2 since they Korea is supposedly ahead in terms of strategy. But all of the strategies that we say today are already in the NA ladder. If these are the strategies that are going to be dominant in SC2, the games are going to be alot more dull. I just thought that I would highlight this post. It is so accurate that it's scary.

He was out of ideas, and was giving up, but I think it feels weird (to both players and spectators) to gg out of nowhere, without having any battle. So he runs his units down and then types out. I think he just made a gamble but if so, he had to be really stressed to judge terran force down the ramp so wrong. Or rather he realized it too late and just gave up on retreating back to base?

The closest will be ensnare vs Hongun imo. Lol you got every guess wrong, and there was maybe one upset. But really all these players are top tier.
