I agree with what many others have surely already said. Best SC2 event to watch so far. It was truly the best players in Europe, and it was so cool to have them all at Take's house for post-game interviews and commentating and so on. Rotterdam did an awesome job too of course, especially when Take was off cooking dinner, he showed he can totally keep it going on his own. Hope we get some more events like this in the future :>

Rotterdam, while your point that the commentator should provide strategic insight into the events in game is fully valid there is another side which I feel sets the show yesterday apart from almost every other SC2/other stream I've watched: entertainment.

I've played various many different RTS games for more than 10 years at a decent or better than decent level, I feel qualified to understand what I am watching, if I just wanted to know what was happening the the observer wouldn't need a mic, just keep the production tab open and cycle through the players units continuously. I want to be entertained, I want to feel a connection: why do I play SC2? because its fun. Yes the competition matters, and the technical details matter, but if people aren't enjoying it, having fun, then its pointless, and that was the biggest factor for me, the whole event, not just the games and the strategies, was fun (and DeMuslim made a legendary recovery, not just in the 2nd grand final game, but coming back after you get 2-0'd in the first match up is really tough).

Haha I agree with you on that, I know it was a lot of entertainment, It was quite serious at start but the later we went the more fun/entertaining it got , nevertheless it doesnt take anything away from my orginial point of casting which is providing information :p, but I do agree, entertainment is atleast as important as valuable information , I guess finding a pefect balance between both would create the ultimate show :p.

Probably the most enjoyable SC2 tournament I've seen to date, just a shame I had to go out and missed so much of it (particularly want to see the Rotterdam/Demuslim casting people were talking so much about). Hopefully there will be VODs and they'll be up soon.

If anybody can link to me to any VODs (though I definitely wouldn't expect them be up) or replays, I'd be might glad. Can't find any replays on the ESL site.

edit: Nvm, seems final isn't up anywhere atm

Yeah RotterdaM, felt kinda sad when you said you didn't even want to cast this thing. Get-together at TaKes place seems like ultimate win. That being said, I obviously appreciate your want to understand the game better (as in, everything except for good proxy locations), but please hurry up because we definitely need more laid back casters who don't get flustered by every gas steal.

@Rotterdam: While your reasons behind this are perfectly valid, it was just the way you said it in the stream. Gave (at least) me the feeling that you didn't want to be there for a moment and took the entertainment value way down for some minutes, just because of how you said it.
May also be a misunderstanding but as i don't know you in any (personal) way, i cannot "read" your tone or intention.

Well, Im not sure if i explained myself well enough Dingtrold, like in general I reall love to cast, I think its a lot of fun and I love to share my " knowledge" about the game in a funny yet interesting way with the audiance, but somehow everyone seems to think hes a caster nowadays and listening to 9 out of 10 sc II streams nowadays hurts my ears, its annoying as hell to listen to people who play in silver league, like im not trying to be arrogant but honestly what does a silver player really know about indept strats? A good caster should not only able to tell you why something works, cause the people who watch the stream are not idiots, they can see what is happening , but a good caster should be able to explain _why_ a strategy didnt work, even though that doesnt mean the strat is bad by any means, it just ment player A did something better than player B, but that doesnt mean a certain strat is bad or whatsover, and tbh I think this is important to know and I feel this is the kind of stuff you only learn by playing. Right now im at 1400~ Diamond ladder but I still feel my game is full of holes, and who am I to tell White ra shouldnt do this, or Naniwa shouldnt do that etc while they have a damn good reason to do what their doing , a good caster is able to explain strats which didnt work on the moment, but still explan why a strat could work in potential, even though It didnt work on this moment or certain situation

Nevertheless I had a sick amount of fun today and I'm willing to continue this, combined with playing alot myself, cause its a lot of fun to joke around etc and we shouldnt take eachtoher more serious than it actually is, but now and then we should provide _valuable _ information as well, and then I don't mean speaking from the observer point of view but from actually playing these guys, cause thats the only way your gonna sound really convincing, not just to the audiance but to yourself as well , I just wanna make sure I know what im talking about before I start casting, but once more, was so much fun today, loved every minute of it , so perhaps cu guys soon once more .

while i agree with you completely, you will also learn a lot from just casting a ton of pro games. at ~1400 diamond, you're already above most of the casters out there and from what i could hear yesterday, you definitely have the fundamentals down. so maybe a healthly balance between playing and casting will benefit you more then just straightup laddering. anyways great job yesterday and i look forward to seeing more!

I just want to dedicate my first post here on teamliquid to ask Rotterdam as nicely as I can: Please continue casting!!!! Already loved your wc3 casts and you didn't diassppoint in sc2 as well, in fact it was the best cast I heard in a long time. =)
So please keep casting, I'm sure there are a lot of fans of you out there who did'nt post here but would still love if you cast other things as well.

Some amazing games and some very good commentary. Thanks to all everyone involved.

Congrats to Demus for qualifying and playing some epic epic games. I think Demus should get slightly drunk before every tournament now... ¬_¬

You have done your country proud man! I hope you go father than this and get some big tournaments under you belt.

I agree with Rotterdamn to gain more knowledge, not only will this increase quality casting, it will also increase quality indept humour when under the effect of alcohol.

Best event in sc2 history, reason being it was so relaxed and fun, and you got to see what was happening in the house at all times.

Imagine having Dimaga there as well, that would be so sick.

When rotterdam says 'decent time to sleep' he actually means, time to get in the bathroom @ 10 AM, lock the door, fill the tub with hot water, put on headphones, and fall asleep naked, scaring the SHIT out of the rest of us the next morning when we want to pee!
