Show nested quote + hey guys I am not supposed to say this officially but this is my opinion. the price does seem unfair and the quality may not be worth it. but hosting a server in US and provinding english commentary/subtitles cannot be done free. I guess many of you are not aware of gomtv's balance sheet past few years. we;ve been understaffed and underpaid for ages now. If we were hosting just one competition it could be done for free, but we have 2 more seasons just this year, and if we are to provide better streams for next season we need money. as far as i know no other gaming site will be streaming or if they do it will be illegal. I personally feel sorry how things turned out and although things might change in the future depending on the outcome, for now it can not be altered. I am not giving up though. i will continue to work to satisfy the needs of oversea fans. I don't buy it for a minute. Gretech bought the rights for SC2 in Korea. Knowing Actiblizz I am 100% sure it wasn't cheap. There's no way a company that is struggling would have been able to acquire the rights. They wouldn't be able to pay and I'm sure Actiblizz wouldn't be putting their property in such unreliable hands. If you believe this then I have some snake oil to sell you. As to the illegal thing, I'm pretty sure rebroadcasting OGN and MBC is technically illegal. The internet doesn't give a fuck. I don't see anyone not tuning in because of moral qualms.

And torrents are much, much harder to silence then restreamers and youtube accounts. totally true. i wont pay a cent, i will just wait patiently for the torrents, which wont take long =) how can you charge 20$ a month?? seriously i pay 6$ a month to watch all soccer matches in german league, and i guess having 15 matches a week in a big stadium is alot more expensive then having some guys playing in front of the computer....

(a) incapable of doing justice to SC2 e-sports on a global level. or (b) is committed to totally arse-fucking foreign fans thinking they'll make a quick buck out of it.

Assuming that the price would be something like 5$ instead of 20$, there would still be a lot people that don't even know how to sign up or aren't allowed because they are underage and what not... Seriously, this will hit Gom TV super hard, and i'm for sure going to watch on OGN or restreams.

It feels more to me that they failed to do their research properly, and they're caught in situation where they're damned if they do, and damned if they don't. Maybe they should've been a bit more conservative about the whole enterprise to start off with, as all the hype that was built up looks to bite them back doubly hard. Hopefully after failing to acquire almost any subscriptions in the first season, they'll come to see the folly of their ways and offer up a free stream. Though it's just not unlikely if they end up stopping the English service altogether. Poor Tasteless/Artosis though, I wonder what they feel like getting caught up in all this.
